;_; its actually kind of sad. mickey's wand that sits beside spaceship earth is officially coming down. i came into work yesterday and there was a ginormous crane sitting beside it. also, spaceship earth is down until who knows when because the siemen's company is "updating" the ride.

so does anyone remember or had a favorite ride, "satue" or fixture that was taken down?

I loved the wand, and while I'm in disney spaceship earth is closed. I remember my first trip to disney I was so excited to go to it's a small world and when we went to go on it, it WAS CLOSED!! I was so sad! but my second time I went on it and I was so happy

Aww. :[ I liked the wand! Only 6 out of my 26 vacations to Disney World were when the wand wasn't up. I don't have a single picture without that wand in it.

I've actually gotten used to the wand. But, I do remember hating it when it first was put up! This is kind of bitter-sweet.

I'm gonna have to get used to it without the wand, it's been there for so long. We do get an update on Space Ship Earth. Hopefuly it's similar to what it was.

i have no idea when the crane will be gone, but i know that guests are complaining about it being in their pictures infront of SSE. i'll keep you posted when i find more things out ;_;. mansion is opening again on sept.12, and the wonders of life pavillion may also be the next thing to go.

Construction started on it on Monday and it's expected to be totally down by September (or November? I'll check on one of the 900 threads about the wand). Those dates translate into crane presence.

I personally thought the whole thing was cheesy, tacky, and gaudy.

ETA: It's supposed to be done by October 1st.

as far as ive heard, no. the wand was made for the millenium celebration and originally said 2000. but everyone loved it so much they kept it up and changed it to say epcot. as far as i know, thats it for a while. theyve also discontiuned the "leave a legacy" as well. so who knows.
