It's early, but what's for supper?

DH is making Sausage and Wine Sauce (yummmm, my favorite food of all time) and garlic bread. The kids don't care for this, so they will probably have frozen pizza. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

It is family night at the bowling alley.....it comes with free pizza, so bowling alley pizza it is, lol.

Please Please excuse my stupidity!! But what is a crock pot???

9:45pm here so had dinner some 4 hours ago. tomato & orange soup with hot crusty rolls DFi had Chicken wrapped in bacon, in a BBQ sauce I had mediterranean veg wrapped in pastry served with baby potatoes and salad and DD(5) has macaroni cheese.

We'll be having pizza. Im soooo not in the mood to cook today. And Im feeling a bit lazy so I will probably have it delivered as well. Will get 1/2 sausage and pepperoni, other 1/2 sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms.

But what is a crock pot???

A crock pot is a low-heat, dutch oven-sized (at least ours is) piece of equipment. We use ours to do beef stew, turkey breast, ribs, venison, etc. We usually load it with the ingredients in the morning and let it simmer all day long. Meat falls off the bone by the time dinner rolls around.

Would you mind sharing your recipe? :teeth:

I have hamburger thawing out, but I'm still undecided what I'm making for dinner.

I don't have an official recipe but this is the way I make it. I make a pretty large batch so you can make a smaller batch if needed!!

Cheese Potato Soup

You will need about 2 1/2 pounds pototoes (I prefer Yukon Gold but almost any potato other than baking potatoes will do).I peel them and then dice them into small cubes. Next I fill a big pot(think dutch oven size) with the potatoes and fill with water between 1/2 full and 3/4 full. I boil this with a little salt and pepper and sometimes a little minced onion until tender.Next I add a roux(1 stick butter and enough flour to make a 'sloppy paste" and add that to the potatoes and stir. Next I add milk..probably around 2 cups. I let this simmer and thicken and then I add some Velveeta cheese (or american cheese) and make sure it is melted and then I add a little dill weed. The dill is not needed but it just adds a different taste to it. I only add a little..maybe a teaspoon or else your soup will have a dill pickle taste!! Also sometimes I will add some crunchy bacon peices(real stuff) or some finely diced ham. Also when it is served we sometimes sprinkle somed grated cheddar cheese on it.

Pretty simple really. The salt and pepper is just according to your own taste. I don't add alot of salt because the cheese and butter will add salt. Also to cut time you can use canned potatoes and just cook them a little longer but it is much better using the fresh.

Not quite. It's litterally a pot, that's electrical, that you can make stews, chilli, meat, etc in. Some people call it a slow cooker. You can put a post row in it in the morning and it'll be ready for dinner.

We have 3 extra kids over tonight so I thought I couldn't go wrong w/ chicken tenders, mac & cheese, & potato wedges.

Just put it in the oven: pork roast in a malt vinegar/spiced cider glaze with potatoes and carrots.

We've already eaten! We had rigatoni in a nice home made ragout, side salad and garlic bread.

I made this great chili/cornbread dish. It's a layer of cornbread (cornbread mix combined with creamed corn, milk, eggs & shredded cheese), then a layer of chili, then another layer of cornbread on top. Not only did I have dinner tonight, but I'll have lunch tomorrow. And I'll freeze the rest so I'll have future lunches or dinners. It's something that my dad doesn't like, and since he's in Florida (he's a snowbird), I'll get to enjoy it! It was perfect for a windy cold day like today.

There's a lot of pork going on today. We had pork roast, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut with apple crisp for dessert.
