ITS COMING -Nov. 2014 Free Dining - waiting, watching, wishing & worrying thread

I'm hoping we book next week. Still trying to decide whether to stay at Art of Animation or pay a little extra for Port of Orleans Riverside. It isn't much more and seems like a lot more appealing to us. This is my 6th time but my husband and younger DD's first time. My husband is singing along to the Mickey Mouse Club House Hit a dog song as I'm typing this! Lol

We were deciding between the two as well, but AoA is more expensive for us since we have 5. I'd love to get a cars suite! If there is free dining if go with POR though for the TS.

This is our first time to WDW. We did DL for our oldest eighth birthday 3 years ago. We're hoping to drive a friends RV and stay in Fort Wilderness. And a free dining plan would be icing on my son's birthday cake! What level of plans do they normally do?
I don't believe you can get free dining for the campsites.

We were going through this last year. Chose POR and will definitely be back (we typically stay at Pop). We really liked POR and the table service plan was a good fit for us...I couldn't eat QS for ten days!

I was on the phone with a Disney rep, asking about promotions that might be going on (we are planning our Disneymoon for Oct 30- Nov 11) and the nice cast member hinted at free dining!!! fingers crossed (she did say that it would most likely NOT, she stressed not, be an AP or regular hotel discount...)

I understand not an AP discount but I'm not sure what it would be if not a regular hotel discount.

Did she say WHY is wouldn't be an AP or "regular hotel discount" (whatever that is)? Weren't both toom-only general public discounts and AP discounts available for those dates the past 3 years? I realize that there's no guarantee, but I'm curious WHY they might not be offered this year. If they need the free dining to lure people in, you'd think they'd also need some RO discounts for those who aren't interested in a dining plan.

Just making a guess here - maybe the rep meant that the free dining offer wouldn't be good as a annual pass holder discount or a room only discount.

Free dining, as far as I know, has always been a package discount which means that you have to purchase both magic your way tickets and a minimum amount of room nights.

If someone is a pass holder they usually buy base tickets for their party for their stay and actually use their APs, saving the base tickets to trade in for credit toward their next AP renewal. That's if they want to take advantage of free dining.

Again, just making a guess that this might have been what the rep was referring to.

She had said she couldn't get into specifics, understandable, she isn't allowed to say one way or another. I had asked if it would be worth getting an AP for hotel discounts and she immediately said that there would probably not be a hotel discount. I think she meant a discount for non AP holders when she said regular...not sure. I just hope its the free dining!...not just a free memory maker like right now.. granted I would still take the free memory maker hahaha

Can anyone tell me what the chances of getting free dining for a check-in date of Nov 22 would be? If there is free dining that is...I really want to upgrade to deluxe but wouldn't be able to justify cost unless I get free dining!

Let's say that there is a slim chance you could catch a break on free dining. Last year the November offer expired on the 23rd which was a Saturday. The week immediately following that was Thanksgiving week, a week when free dining is never offered.

This year the 22nd falls on a Saturday. Again, the following week is Thanksgiving week. As long as your check-in date includes free dining, then the rest of your stay regardless will include that offer. If I were you and it we possible I would plan on arriving on Friday just to be safe.

We have a package booked for Nov 13-18 POR with tickets. If FD comes out, will I have to pay the increase in ticket prices to add the promotion?

OMG!!!!!! Thank you for this post!!!!! I am trying to convince my fiance to do a FAMILYMOON the first week in November!! The free dining would be a BLESSING!!!!!! Let's say a prayer... :cool1:

Think she meant it wouldnt be a general public offer at all? Like maybe FD for non September fall dates would be available by PIN only?

Well I decided to get the Disney Visa card and it arrived today!!! Free dining is offered to Disney visa card holders before everyone else. It'll only get me a few days head-start for free dining when it is offered to the general public but hey, maybe that means I'm not on hold for as long.:confused3 I can't wait to use it while i'm there. pixiedust:
