ITS COMING -Nov. 2014 Free Dining - waiting, watching, wishing & worrying thread

Yup...alot of upset people over that one.

I'm disappointed. It means no December trip to Disney for us this year. Similar to last year as I was up at 1am the morning free dining fall 2013 came out. At that time, I checked POR but all they had available with free dining were rooms for 4. I checked many, many times during the booking period and rooms that can accomodate 5 never opened up for free dining at POR. I was unable to book anything for us so we did not go last fall. Now POR is out completely and none of the other moderates or values will accomodate 5 (I know the value suites will, but a suite costs more than renting two regular rooms so for us it sort of cancels out much of the benefit of free dining).

With Disney resort rates as high as they are, I need a decent discount to justify staying at a Disney resort.

I am happy to see that Universal has opened the Cabana Bay Beach Resort which has rooms that can accomodate 5 and which has rack rates lower than POR. I am looking at a March 2015 trip with a stay at Cabana Bay. My wife is interested in Harry Potter, and Cabana Bay will have its own lazy river, so staying at Cabana Bay will be for more than just its relatively low price.

I am happy for those who are able to take advantage of the current Disney free dining package. Enjoy! I will miss lunch at Crystal Palace.
 
I called right at 7 and only had to hold for a couple minutes. now the actual phone call talking to the cast member took longer but I'm all booked now! Staying at CSR Nov 15-22 2 rooms 7 people Free dining saved me $2000! :cool1::cool1:

We are switching there too for those same dates!!
 
Are the free dining dates listed on the first post of this thread set in stone now? We check in on 11/9 so I was not originally expecting to be eligible for free dining since last year it didn't start until 11/11. Just worried about getting my hopes up and then my dates not being eligible. :)

Also, can you add the free dining option online if you are General Public and already have a package booked or will I still need to call in on May 7th?

So I spent 98min on the phone and had to switch from All-Star movies to All-Star sports to get the deal.. I was a little bit bummed because my DS wanted to stay at ToyStory area but I'm sure he will be happy walking over because it saved us $406

Yes, those dates are solid. No, you can not modify online - you'll have to call.

Just click the ticker in my signature and it will take you to the webpage to create one. Then copy and paste it in your signature via the 'user cp' link at the top of this page.

I always preview it first because I can never remember which code to copy and paste.
 
All booked, took about an hour of hearing "all phone lines are busy", but once I got through I had the whole thing booked within about 20 minutes.

So we are on our way(planning wise)...Nov 15-23(8 nights), 2 rooms for 7 people(4 adults/3 kids) at CBR! Price difference wtihout free dining over $2200 ...hope it was the right choice.!
 
Well, you could call Chase to get the info, although they're giving incorrect information for the most part. No, you shouldn't have to rely on anonymous posters but sometimes it's either that or not getting the discount. I refuse to let my indignation lose me a huge chunk of savings.

I'd say the majority if DV holders don't receive the emails. A lot of people here would be SOL if they didn't have the heads up.

I called and like others have reported you don't need a pin. I wouldn't go if the whole trip were free so I don't care about free dining. I got to vent to the Disney TA why I'm not going (nothing to do with FD), once again, so I got a little bit of Disney magic of my own making.:mic::lmao::cool1:pixiedust:

We shouldn't have to rely on rogue (non-DU) TAs posting here anonymously to get info for a card that we're paying for the rewards for. I don't care about an email either but it should be boldly visible for everyone with a card to see on the DV rewards page. There might actually be a "reward" that I'd like to spend my points on some day. It would be nice to know that we're being notified of what discounts we have as cardmembers. I'm here anyway so I know about this but...

Just saw the post about cutting the nose off to spite the face!:lmao: Not sure if that was directed toward me and my indignation but my issues have absolutely nothing to do with FD or DV regarding why we canceled our trip so if it was directed toward me, my nose is still where it should be.:thumbsup2

Congrats to everyone on getting a discount! Can someone who got the email verify that they are allowing bookings through December now. Also is ASMo out for sure? I do not have a Disney visa and I'm praying there are value rooms left when this goes to the GP. I've been trying to get back to ASMo for my last 2 trips and every time the rooms for ASMo were gone. O'well I don't care where I sleep I just want to go to Disney with free dining. I do need value rooms though so could you guys make sure to save me 3 rooms:thumbsup2

All-Star movies is out... I called its been excluded because that's where we were staying originally so we were moved to sports.
 
We're in for Nov.,10 nights CSR...took 45 minutes,most of it on hold,and had a pretty slow(but efficient) CM.:goodvibes Keep trying everyone,the phones are just jammed packed-use redial every couple minutes or so..you'll get through!! Good Luck!!pixiedust:

You should take your complaints up about the emails with Chase since that's who is responsible for sending them out. I didn't post the nose comment in the other thread, but certainly agreed with it.

If venting to a booking CM that has nothing to do with your irritation makes you feel better then more power to ya :thumbsup2 But floating around looking for reasons to be annoyed and calling in about discounts that you don't even plan on using makes about as much sense as a poopy flavored lollipop.
