ITS COMING -Nov. 2014 Free Dining - waiting, watching, wishing & worrying thread

Yes you can make ADR's but you can make them at the 180 days out just like the rest of us. The difference is at 180 days before my first night on my reservation, I can reserve for all of my nights (up to 10) and you can only do them one at a time exactly 180 days before you wish to eat at that restaurant.

Does that make sense?

Ahhh! Sorry I gave out bad info! Maybe I was thinking 60 days for FP+

Totally-and now it clears up that whole +10 that everyone would always mention. I was never really sure what that meant-so double thanks!!

I can't remember if I chimed in earlier, but we are looking at POFQ from 11/29-12/6. It's been a few years since we took advantage of free dining, so I can't remember what the rules are. Do you have to check in while free dining is going on, or just be staying when it starts?

You have to check in on one of the eligible days for the promotion As long as you check in by the last day of the promotion, you are eligible for free dining your entire stay. Example: free dining 11/2-11/22. Check in 11/22 and can get free dining your entire stay (I believe, up to 10 days). However, if you check in 11/1, you will not be eligible, even though most of your stay is in the free dining period. Hope this helps
From my research... It appears that free dining has usually been available during thanksgiving week as long as you check in the Friday before thanksgiving or the Saturday after. Good luck::yes::

Here's another thought-what are the resorts that are usually included in the FD promo? We are looking at the mods-especially Coronado. . I'd rather book a place and be able to keep it, instead a having to switch if it does come out. Are preferred rooms ever included?

Another reason to wait, I suppose.

Now I am pretty nervous. I had started planning for 11/27-12/7 and I thought those dates were offered free dining in the past. I hope I dont have to change my dates.

I've ran the numbers so many times and that is the best discount for my family.

Unfortunately, I think your chances are very slim to get free dining with a check- in date of Thanksgiving day.
However, you could possibly check out on the day FD opens back up after Thanksgiving (assuming it is offered)... For instance, let's say that FD is avail beginning the Monday after Thanksgiving (Dec 1st). You could check out & then check back in to take advantage of the promo for the rest of your stay.
Hope that helps!!

I'm starting to feel pretty stressed. We are a family of 5 and I really need one of the POR 5-people rooms. Like NEED. And I've been watching air fare and so far, it's going to be about $1,600 for us to fly. I don't want to book our dates yet because I don't want to take rooms that will cause Disney to NOT offer any discounts. But I'm also nervous about NOT getting the room I need or the flights going up in price.
I'm so very hoping for FD but prepared for it not to be offered. I really want the dining plan, but for our family it's around $1,500. That's a lot (to us).
I'd even be happy with Stay/Play/Dine.
Any advice for someone who is getting jumpy? Our dates are Nov 13-21. The week before and the week after these dates and the flights are about $800 higher and we're priced out.

In your case where only one resort and one type of room at that resort will work, I would book my room. You can always add the discount (whatever it may be) to your reserved room but you can not create a room for a discount if none are left.

Ditto this. We are a family of 5 as well and POR is the only resort in our budget. As much as I'd LOVE free dining, we will be going even if it isn't offered. We will just pack lunches and have some quick breakfasts in the room if need be.

We also need the room at POR for 5. We have stayed there our previous 2 visits. We were lucky enough to get a play, stay and dine promotion in feb and free dining in September. Both of these trips were a little last minute and we didn't have any trouble getting a room. I am hoping this time won't be any different. However... I'm actually planning this vacation in advance and I'm nervous the November dates may fill up faster. I still haven't booked a room. I'm planing November 14-21 and REALLY need free dining!!! Keeping my fingers :worship:crossed:worship:

I'd book it. That way, you'll have the room. Since you know that you'll go regardless, it'll give you the peace of mind. Just my two cents :-)

Thank you for all the feedback regarding booking now vs waiting. Still thinking about it, but the advice is helping :)

Subscribing -- Planning POR for 12/1 - 12/8/14 and praying for FD. Our dates could easily change to the end of November depending on when (and if) FD is offered.

I'm in for hoping, but we are coming November 6-12 and that is during Wine & Dine. I'm afraid they won't be offering it or our week will be a blackout.
