JULY 28TH PART ONE: THE FINAL MORNING
Before I start this update, I just want to say that I feel like this thing is suffering in the quality department because I'm rushing to get it done. I'm terribly sorry for that. I mean, I'm not entirely sure this trip report has ever truly been quality, but you're all fabulous, wonderful, amazing readers/commenters/friends and you deserve better than a rushed ending. I promise that I'll make up for it with my next TR. I love you all!
OK...
On our final morning in WDW, for some unbeknownst reason, I woke up at 6:00 AM. 6:00 AM. I NEVER wake up at 6:00 AM. Because of my insomnia, I go to sleep at 6:00 AM more often than I wake up at 6:00 AM. So basically, I was extremely confused. I attempted to go back to sleep for another hour, but gave up after about 5 minutes and decided I might as well finish packing. My parents were already up and moving (because they are crazy people who wake up that early on a regular basis) and beginning to take stuff out to the car. After showering, brushing my teeth, and all that jazz, I headed out to the porch to enjoy one last Mickey Rice Crispy Treat breakfast. It was delicious. And also quite sad. I hate leaving.
I dont remember exactly how long I was out there, but I know that I was startled out of my breakfast serenity by this crazypants.
Youve gotta love her.
I came back inside and joined the family for one last sweep of the room. We definitely didnt want to forget anything. Ive never actually forgotten anything in a hotel room before, but it cannot be fun. While we were waiting for Katie to finish packing up, Mom shared with me some SHOCKING news: she had never ever eaten a rice crispy treat before. I know, right? My mind was blown. I was about to whip out my phone and call the hospital where I was born just to make sure that I wasnt switched at birth or something. Once I got over the initial shock, I shoved a Mickey Rice Crispy Treat into her hand and told her to eat. This whole Ive never eaten one before thing simply could not stand.
Heres a picture of that magical first bite
And the verdict? Well, she didnt exactly drop to her knees shouting, Im not worthy of eating such a delicious food item. She also didnt spit it out, though, so I was satisfied.
Once Katie was ready, we grabbed our things, said one last goodbye to our room, and headed out to the parking lot to finish packing up the car. Dads got packing down to a science, so we all just stood there while he meticulously managed to fit everything in.
Then, we headed back into the GCH and up to the monorail station to go over to the Magic Kingdom one last time.
I love the teal monorail.
A pretty palm tree AND a pretty trash can.
Walking down the MK monorail ramp. The Welcome Show was going on as we arrived. It was the perfect final morning welcome.
Upon entering, we headed straight to Tomorrowland as we were in a Space Mountain kinda mood.
The line was backed up to the Astro Orbiter, but once we started moving, we made it on the ride in no time.
This always makes me smile. Maybe someday Disney really will have a resort somewhere in outer space.
Heres our on-ride picture:
After exiting back out into Tomorrowland, we saw that Chip and Dale were out with no wait, so we headed over to get our picture taken. Dale (who has always been my favorite) gave me a big hug. Chip, upon seeing Katies cheerleading shirt, started doing some cheerleading moves. It was adorable.
Heres our picture:
I know that theyre going for a futuristic look, but I cant help but feel like Chip and Dale got lost on their way to a Lady Gaga concert or something. Paws up, guys.
After our character encounter, we headed back to Space Mountain. I cannot get enough of that ride.
Another on-ride pic:
Because there was no line, Dad, Katie and I rode for a third and fourth time. Mom wasnt feeling up to it, so she bought a diet coke and found a table outside to relax. We couldve kept riding because there was absolutely no wait, but that queue is long, man. It wore us out.
During our trip, receipts from certain quick service dining locations doubled as coupons for discounts at merchandise locations throughout the parks. Because the coupons were only valid before either 11 or 12 (I can't remember which), I decided it was time to head over to the Emporium to do a little shopping.
I thoroughly looked through the entire store (and saw 90454892234 things I wanted to buy) but I settled on some practical souvenirs.
I got several Mickey Mouse kitchen utensils which I brought with me to my house at school and used frequently. Using them never fails to brighten my day.
I also bought one of these Tigger mugs for my friend because shes a big Tigger fan.
I actually already own the Mike Wazowski mug, but I bought a Chesire Cat mug (which you can kinda see in the bottom of the pic) for myself. I love those mugs. They are MASSIVE, but, again, they never fail to brighten my day.
Katie also bought some stuff (though I dont remember what) and we wound up saving quite a bit of money, so thanks for the coupons, Disney!
After finishing our shopping, we decided it was time to bid adieu to the Magic Kingdom. We wanted to get on the road at a decent time so that wed get to my grandmothers house before rush hour. Plus, we still had to stop at Downtown Disney for some Earl of Sandwich and a quick trip to the 25 Days of Christmas store.
Heres one final shot of the Magic Kingdom:
See ya real soon, MK. Literally.
