JULY 27TH PART 3: A SPOT OF HILARI-TEA!!
Our next stop on this GORGEOUS morning was another classic Magic Kingdom attraction, the Mad Tea Party!
Sure, its a bit lame, but spinning myself silly in a giant tea cup will never get old. Plus, the sound the ride makes when it comes to a screeching halt is one of my favorite Disney sounds. I know, I know. Your mind is probably blown right now because you didnt think I could get any weirder, and then I went and said something like "the sound of a ride screeching to a halt makes me nostalgic." Sometimes I cant believe myself either. LOL.
If youve read my PTR, youll know that, after a TRAUMATIC experience a few years back, I refuse to ride the tea cups with my sister anymore. She spins the darn thing faster than any normal human being should be able to endure. It's crazy. As were standing in line, determined to find the cup that spins the most, she will literally stare at the ride for several cycles attempting to pinpoint the fastest one. Its insane. And here is a photo of her doing just that.
Because being so dizzy that I cant stand up is not on high on my list of fun things, I made Dad ride with her while I rode in the Were Just Gonna Let the Ride Do Most of the Work cup with Mom and took pictures.
Before:
During:
I like Katie's hair action in this one.
I can just hear them bickering about the proper spinning technique in my head. LOL.
All smiles.
After:
Well, Dad made it out of there in one piece. I guess that's where Katie gets her super-human spinning genes from.
As we exited, I noticed that Alice and the White Rabbit were meeting and greeting, so Mom and I ran over and got in line. Dad and Katie headed over to get Fastpasses for Space Mountain. They may have also gone on the Tomorrowland Speedway I cant really remember and they didnt take any pictures which is normally how I keep track of what they did, so we're just going to assume that's what they did. Because it makes sense logistically. I think.
Anyway, I was really excited to finally meet Alice. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was one of the first REAL books I ever read and its had a special place in my heart ever since.
The line for Alice was a bit long, but PUSH the talking trash can came over to entertain us. He was really funny. His interactions with little kids were priceless.
Oh, funny story The family in front of us in line (who you can see in that picture) were wearing matching bright yellow (or I guess I should say maize) University of Michigan t-shirts. As you all know, I am a Buckeye. I bleed Scarlett and Grey. Just typing out the name of that school up north took a lot out of me. So, when we noticed their shirts, Mom suggested loudly doing the OH- -IO cheer. On any other day, I would have been like, Heck yes! Lets do it! But because we were at the Magic Kingdom and I was having a fabulous morning, I decided to just ignore their Michigan-ness. Apparently, Disney is the only place in the world where Buckeyes and Wolverines can co-exist in harmony. LOL.
When it was finally time for me to go up, I excitedly said Hello! and may have thrown something in about how Alice was my favorite. She asked how I was doing today and I responded Im wonderful! Thank you so much for asking! To which she said, Why I see you drank your tea this morning! in all her British-accented glory. Then she turned to the White Rabbit and excitedly said, Mr. Rabbit, did you hear? She drank her tea this morning!
It probably sounds really lame now, but at the time, I was internally flailing. I mean, I was having a conversation with Alice and the White Rabbit! The little girl inside of me who read her book over and over again was freaking out. It was just so cool!
Anyway, heres my picture
Again, I have my hand in a fist. I dont know why I always seem to do that in character pics. LOL.
We met up with Dad and Katie who were waiting on a bench outside of Cosmic Rays and headed into Tomorrowland.
I love this transition area where you go from shady Fantasyland into shiny silver Tomorrowland.
We headed over to another one of my favorite Magic Kingdom attractions, the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor!
Monsters Inc. is one of my favorite movies. It is perfection. I adore Mike and Sully and Roz and the adorable little Boo. I Didnt Have You makes me smile. I frequently burst out into rousing renditions of Put that thing back where it came from. So, basically, my Monsters Inc. love combined with the fact that I will laugh at the stupidest of things means that the Laugh Floor is right up my alley.
Anyway, heres a picture of the castle from the queue
This picture is blurry, but I love the The future of energy is a joke tagline. If only we could figure out a way to convert laughter to energy. Come on, scientists! Get on that!
Here are a few pictures from the queue. We didnt have to wait too long Maybe like 15 or 20 minutes...I cant remember exactly.
I dont want to spoil the show too much, but for those of you who dont know, they select people from the audience to put up on screen to play certain parts. The people they picked during our show were absolutely hilarious. They were totally game to play along. Sulley had a big beard and made the funniest facial expressions. Mike, when reminded that he only had one eye, cocked his sunglasses so that only one eye was showing. It was classic.
Oh, Laugh Floor, I just love you.
UP NEXT: Yew Nork, Space Flights, and A Whole New World
