mom2of2 said:at MK anyway! Went over today and they have the boughs up at the ticket area and wreaths on store windows. The biggest decoration so far is the huge Christmas tree over by the Rose Garden. They were also playing Christmas music.

It brings enjoyment to people who are visiting prior to Thanksgiving. If it is because you just don't like Christmas decorations early, then I suggest you don't visit WDW at this time of year. If it is just because Disney used to put things up quickly and they don't now, you need to realize that businesses change the way they do things. All businesses do this. It is not a static world. I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I just don't understand where you are coming from.
Sure in the days of only the MK, Poly and Contemporary the change to Christmas was done over night. However that has not been the case for a very long time. Disney now has to decorate the MK (with more decorations than when they did it Thanksgiving night) Epcot, the Studios, Animal Kingdom, dozens of hotels, and downtown Disney. Not to mention other things such as the water parks, golf courses and small touches such as the DVC lighthouse on Bonnet Creek parkway. It is far more than anyone could do in just one or two nights. Trust me when I tell you that the decorations have not been done all in one night in nearly 20 years. As for your earlier comment about no Christmas decorations during the food and wine festival, that is still the case. They have not begun any decorating at Epcot, and will not until the festival is over.Got Quattro? said:It used to be like christmas 2 times if that makes sense. you are there for thanksgiving, and when you go to the parks that friday, BOOM, it's christmas. It was a wonderfull way to kick off the christmas season.
Now we are all being bombarded with christmas in a gradual fashion from november 1 on. It takes some of the specialness away from christams to have it out there for so long.
I agree with you. I am so siked now that I know we not only will be in the world Thanksgiving day, but also that we will enjoy the decorations the whole week before. This is our last trip to DIsney at least for the next 2 years and I too think this only adds to the magic.4fosterkids said:I think it is so exciting that the holiday decor is up! For those who go in November and didn't think they would get to see any decorations, it is a great surprise. I enjoy every minute of the holiday time in the park,it ends too fast! You have to remember some people are just there for a short time on vacation and may not return for years, so this gives more time for everyone to get some holiday magic!!
