It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Has anyone seen any decorations/music up at EPCOT- and actually lit? I'm particularly interested in the International gateway arch- LOVE THAT THING! Is it up and lit?

Thanks for those pics from Saturday. Would love to see more. We leave in 25 days for our very first trip to WDW. I'm sure it's magical for the kids any time of year, but our two DDs (8 & 5) are really in for a special vacation!

I worked at Epcot last night.....no Christmas decorations yet....but I am sure they are on their way!

I have chill bumps. I am so excited. Thank you. My day has officially been made.

YEAH - I'm happy. :sunny:

i did not belive you untill you posted the pics.

it's a shame

disney used to wait untill the thankgiving weekend, and then an army would "install" christmas in a few days.

we were at the food and wine festival just last year and there were no decorations up at all.

in the 5 thanks givings I have been too at the world, they always wait.

it's just a shame, it's the further decline from how things used to be

We've been to Disney in Dec. but this year we're going for Valentines Day instead. I'm sure we'll have a very nice trip but there's just something magical about being in Disney with all of the Christmas decorations up! A little strange too.....being from Wisconsin and seeing all of the decorations in the warm weather!

Love the tree in MK being over in the rose garden area! Always find it too busy up in the Main St hub. Can't wait to see it in person!

I'm not sure I understand why you think this is a bad thing. Most business now start with Christmas decorations prior to Thanksgiving. Why should Disney be any different. It brings enjoyment to people who are visiting prior to Thanksgiving. If it is because you just don't like Christmas decorations early, then I suggest you don't visit WDW at this time of year. If it is just because Disney used to put things up quickly and they don't now, you need to realize that businesses change the way they do things. All businesses do this. It is not a static world. I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I just don't understand where you are coming from.

ITA Peg. Why I would give out false info is beyond me.
As for Epcot..I'm going there this afternoon so I will look and see if the decorations are up at the archway

I for one am very excited to see Christmas decorations.... we leave in less than 48 hours... I have never been able to convince my husband to go at Christmas time - he isn't even going for this long weekend - just me and the kids and my dad... we love Christmas and Disney - so what could be better than the two of them together!!!!!

THIS MAKES MY DAY WE ARE LEAVING SUNDAY FOR A WEEK WITH
DS(3) THIS IS OUR 1ST TIME DOWN THERE WITH CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
CAN'T WAIT ............... :hourglass

Just wanted to add (for those that are coming in december)... the Christmas tree will be in the Rose Garden until December 6 or 7th and then it will be moved back to it's normal spot in Town Square (by the flag pole). It is currently in the Rose Garden because of the parade filming December 3, they did not want to set it up, move it for the filming and then move it back.

Is the parade to begin filming on the 3rd or is it all completed on the 3rd? We arrive of the 4th!
TIA

The parade will begin filming on Dec 2nd. I would imagine it will continue until they get what they want. I do know there will be some pieces that will be telecast with the parade that will film prior to Dec 2nd. They will take place at locations around WDW.

I cant wait to see all the decorations!!! My little ones are going to just love all the lights especially Osbourne lights!! They get excited just driving around in the car looking at the lights on peoples house. Cant wait to see the expression on their faces when they see Disney!!

Can anyone help with this -- we arrive at WDW on 12/3 and were planning to be in MK by about 1:00 pm or so. Is the parade filming going to take over the park to the extent that we won't be able to get around or enjoy ourselves? I hesitate to change our plans now -- we're booked for CRT at 6:30 for dinner that night, but please tell me if I'm in for a horror show because of the parade.... Thanks!

Bleeps and DVCsmile... They are scheduled for filming the Christmas Parade December 2, 3, and 4 (as a back up day). The bulk of the actual parade filming at MK is on the 3rd. Bleeps it WILL take over Main Street, but not the rest of the park. Generally the filming begins very early in the AM (before the park opens) and wraps up in the early evening... last year the afternoon parade was pushed back to 5pm because of filming delays) If you take the train (or weave through the crowd on Main Street) you will find the rest of the park to be average. They only film on Main Street from the castle hub to Town Square. Basically what they do is they bring one float out at a time, they will film it coming down Main Street, full music, dancers, etc (whatever is associated with that float). They will film it over and over again, backing it up and brining it forward as many times as they need until they get the shots that they want. Then that float will leave and a new one will be brought out a few minuted later. It is a long, tideous process that takes much of the day. The "crowd" that is there is mostly extras that are there for the long haul (not something you want to subject small kids to, can be boring). But again, the congestion and mayhem is only on Main Street. Those that have been in the park on filming day in previous years have reported that the rest of the park is usually fairly empty (I work on the trains, so I don't see much of the interior park crowd to confirm that).

Kpulle: The Trolley show (which will not be running during parade filming) is really cute. They use the trolley (or the Omni Bus if they are working on the Trolley tracks). They stop 3 or 4 times along Main Street, starting in the Hub by Casey's Corner and working there way back to the train station. They do a song and dance welcoming you to Main Street USA (catchy little tune). The shows are generally presented daily at 9:25, 10:20, 11:20AM and 12:05PM. It's cute if you get a chance to see it.

Just returned from Epcot and no, there aren't any decorations up there yet. Since the F&W lasts until this weekend, I guess they will put them up after it is over
