It looks like it started last Sunday and runs through Saturday, April 23rd.

I bought 8 packs last year but it was a pain using all of them during my trip (I also can't use them to pay on my Disney package as the minimum amount you can pay on their website is $20). If you do plan on using them during your trip, I would suggest only taking a pack or so with you at a time to the park and wrapping the last receipt around the last used card. Rubber banding the "good" cards together is helpful too. I immediately threw away cards after I had used them to buy food, but kept the ones for purchases in case I had to return the item during the trip. I've heard that you can use them over the phone to pay for a package, but I never tried that (and seems time consuming if you have a lot of cards). I plan on just buying 1-2 packs this year.

Multi-Pack? Multi-Fun!

So, if I buy these, I can use them around the park for souveniers and snacks? That would be great. :yay:

Thanks for posting this!

Is there an activation fee?

Safeway is running a special this week if you buy two $50 Mastercard gift cards, you get $5 off your next purchase. So I went to buy two $50 gift cards (since you can use Mastercard anywhere) and there is a $4.95 activation fee with each card. I told them no thank you.

No there is no activation fees on the "store" cards only Visa, MC, Amex, Green Dot, etc

What is the value of the Disney pack? $30? $40? I looked at my weekly ad, but the pic is too dang small for my old eyes to see. If anyone knows, please post! Thanks.

I bought some of these last year, and it was a package of 3 $15 Disney gift cards. It was a pain keeping up with all of the $15 gift cards at the parks.

Yep, those were the only denominations available at my Kroger too. Kroger affiliates (Giant and other stores I can't remember right now :) ) also ran this promotion last year so I assume they're doing it too.

I only plan on buying 2 packs but if someone doesn't mind the hassle it can be a decent money saver. I saved $40 last year.

matdamom - yes, you can use these all over Disney (anywhere credit cards are accepted, which is pretty much everywhere).

Last year the $5 coupon they printed and gave you was only good for a short time after you purchased the gift cards, around 2-3 weeks I believe? I'm going by Kroger tonight after work so I'll find out if this is still true.

I bought a pack of gift cards last year, would come back the next day and get another pack and use my $5 off coupon for the next pack. Some cashiers would say this wasn't allowed, others never said anything. I don't know if they have an official policy on that.

I like that they're offering double fuel reward points too! :)

Yay...and I may try using the $5 coupon on a 2nd, then 3rd pack. We have 3 kids, so I could give each of them 1 card for snacks and 1 card for souvies. This is over and above what we were allotting. And I could write names on them, and this would be a way for them to buy whatever snack or small thing they wanted without snacking me out of cash.

Can you call in to Disney and use the $15 ones to pay on your balance? (Someone said the website only took $20.)

That's a great idea. I was on a solo trip so keeping up with them was all on me. The nice thing is the receipt they give you always tells you how much is left on the card. Also, if you end up getting them confused at some point, the numbers on the card are somewhere on the receipt if you needed to match them up.

Some of the cards weren't a hassle to use. I bought a ticket at the front desk at Kidani for MNSSHP and used up a whole pack. I was trying to use all of the cards for the larger things and cash for the things that were under $5. Just remember if you have to return anything they will only put the returned money on the gift card, so keep the cards that you purchase things with (I kept a Ziploc bag in my purse and wrapped the receipt I purchased something with around the gift card and kept them stored in there so I wouldn't get them mixed up with the cards that still had a balance). I did buy a Kaki Gori, however, and had $7 and some change left on a card. I used the card and didn't look at the receipt until I had walked away. She had charged me for two Kaki Gori's so I took the receipt back and she gave me cash for the difference. I don't think that's the norm though.

If I buy multiple packs can I use only 1 of the $5 coupons per order or can they all be used at once?

Thanks!

Thanks. I might do this for spending money on our Fantasy Cruise. Hm. I bet it would be pretty easy to have these applied on the first night as OBC wouldn't it? Thinking I could just take the stack up and use these to pay for excursions and whatever else.

I don't think you would have any problem using them at the front desk on the ship. I had planned on using mine originally to pay for the dining package with my room. I had rented points and added dining but I had to wait to get there to pay for it. I called and asked if I could use more than one gift card and the CM said they can apply as many as I want at the front desk. I removed the dining plan before I went though so I never used them for that purpose.

Last year the $5 off coupon specifically said only one per order.

I did this the last time, and thanks to my AWESOME TA at MouseUnlimited, I was able to use them all towards my trip balance! Wish I had a Kroger now where I lived!!

Does Kroger still make you pay cash for gift cards? I've gone before and they've made me pay cash. Would love to get Disney Reward Dollars on top of this. haha.

I was able to use a credit card and I also stood there and bought one used coupon, paid and repeat. I was able to get the $ 5 off each set. I also did the General Mills gift card deal in seperate transactions and used those towards the gifts cards. Then I needed gas I was on E and I was given $1 off per gallon.

We don't have Kroger but we have a Kroger affiliated store called Fred Meyer. Does anyone know if this is being offered at FM? I can't find anything about it so probably not. :sad2:

I was able to use my credit card too. Also, you may have to hunt for the Disney gift cards. It looked like there were no Disney gift cards but after 5-10 minutes of searching I found a ton of them behind other gift cards.

My Kroger last year didn't have this advertised in their weekly ad. I found out about it on the DIS. When I got to the store there was a teeny, tiny sign at the very top of the gift card display area that showed the same offer.

We plan on going to halloween party need 4 tickets mailed to us. Could I purchase the tickets each as 4 separate purchases, have them use the cards from kroger to pay for them and then have them all shipped to us in one envelop? TIA
