I finally started packing for our trip! I had to wait for the weather to cool down here. This is our first family vacation so I am getting a little overwhemled with everything. Besides the basics like tylenol, band aids, and sunscreen for example is there anything I will need? Will I need bug spray? Is there something you wish you packed for the kids that you didn't? Any thoughts or tips would be great?

We will be there right behind you. We have gone every year at this same time and no bug spray needed. I also am packing and as I do I'll pay attention to if there is something out of the ordinary that I pack and I'll let you know.

Have a great time!! :bounce:

Will you be enjoying the MNSSHP? Where will you be staying?

We went in July 05 with DS 4 1/2 and DD 2. Strollers!! Bring one or rent it for both of them. Lots of walking. (Lots & Lots) We were able to cover alot ground at an adult's pace rather than a 4 year old's. We did bring bug spray but didn't need it. Moleskin was a lifesaver!! I did get a blister, applied the moleskin during our afternoon break and did have to think about again. Take the advice and take a break with little ones. The new "continous spray" sunblock is WONDERFUL!! I just brought with me and sprayed them down at the park entrance while waiting in line. No sunburns to report :cool1: Have a snack or two on hand just in case. I used small prepackage stuff...Mini Oreos, teddy grams, b'fast bars. Poncho In the camping section at Walmart. Less than $1 each. I took 4 - me, dh, and one for each stroller. I'll be happy to answer any more questions about taking little ones. We had an awesome trip!!! :wave2:

Sorry, meant to say i had NO problems with the blister after the moleskin.

r u flying?

stickers were great on the plane. so were pipecleaners. juiceboxes were convenient for the takeoff-landing and also for breakfast in the room.

we had a mesh bag for in the parks. you probably dont have one, but it was WONDERFUL with the bag checks at the gate. I had about a dozen security guys thank me for making their job easy :flower: I put diapers and wipes in a plastic bag (the kind you buy curtains in), so I could close it, and it stayed dry, but was also easily visible.

Snacks are always good, we took those 100 calorie packs things, got them cheap at Biglots

Glow Sticks were AWESOME! 15 for $1 at dollar tree. Totally worth it, I will bring them every time.

TAKE A CHANGE OF SHORTS INTO THE PARKS FOR DS. We had a leaky diaper, and NO WHERE sold shorts. There are a million places you can buy a cheap tshirt if necessary, but there were no shorts for toddlers anywhere in MK.

We are staying at ASmo and will be going to MNSSHP on the 20th. Thanks for all ideas keep them coming. I love the pipe cleaner idea for the plane. I already have 2 color wonder finger paints and 2 mini magna doodles. My sis is a flight attendant so she has been helping me on the plane aspect of the trip. I even had her double check that our carseat was an approved one. I did just get a box the the 100 cal snack packs from Big Lots there are like 25 of them for only like $5. I still need a poncho or 2 to cover the double stroller we are renting I forgot about this. We need the double now because DD broke her toe. I need to get my notebook to write all this down.

A couple of things I thought of...

For some reason my son gets the weirdest rash. Not sure if its from the sun or sun/sun tan lotion combo. (I've since read that other children have had the same thing happen) So we now bring children's benadryl with us.

Also ziplock bags. If you buy the mug at the resort and wash them out before you leave, it's nice to throw them in a ziploc just in case they aren't totally dry. Also anything else that might be unexpectedly wet.

With the age of your kids, maybe a night light? Slippers might be nice, since you will probably have your air on, it can get chilly in the rooms.

Don't forget any confirmation numbers that you have.

Since you will be going to the party, I will assume your kids will be in costumes, remember that it does get hot and the kids get real uncomfortable. I alway have shorts and a halloween type t-shirt for them to change into. (After pictures of course)

I packed each outfit for my son (shirt socks, shorts) in one ziplock for the way down, then on the way back we had all the baggies for swimsuits, etc.

Also, definitely bring cheap ponchos or a raincover for the stroller. I went back and forth about spending the $ on a raincover, and I am so glad I did as we used it every day at least once.

Does anyone have a master checklist? It is really overwhelming.
Thanks!

There is one that I saw on another site, it is way more than I would ever pack, but it's a great help.

Give me some time I'll see if I can find it for you.

wow...i had never thought about the mesh bag idea. I second the idea on the glow braclets. For travel, I bought the small cookie sheets at the Dollar Tree and the "ABC" and shape magnets to go with it!! We lost quite a few, but it was entertainment for a $1!! Small slinky...bad idea. Colors and just plain paper. BYW, colors with Cinderella on the box are at the Dollar Tree right now.

I bought one of those hang on the door shoe organizer

We put all our bathroom stuff and shoes in it. It was easy to find things and it kept stuff off the counters.

They did allow small donut rafts for the kids in the pool. We put our 3 yr old in one and didnt have to hold him all the time in the pool.

When we went in June I wished I had a sweat band!!!! LOL
I bought a visor there. It was HOT!

Thanks Magicaldisney, I just printed the ultimate packing list. I will definitely use it. We leave on October 22nd so I plan on starting to pack soon.

I always buy my kids the little disposable cameras, the cheapest ones from Walmart. We ran out and had to buy one @ Animal Kingdom. One in WDW cost more than all of them that I bought before going down there.

This is where you want to go. There is a major check list in here. Whatever you don't want to bring just cross off.
