It's a Small World - who have you run into at WDW?

Last summer, we were waiting to board out plan back home. The connecting flight was a few minutes late and the gate area was really crowded. We were standing, waiting for pre-boarding (had our DS 2 with us and DH is "platinum" status or whatever) and off the plane walks our neighbors who live in the other half of our duplex! Neither or us knew the other would be there, so we stopped them to say hi, and laughed saying "thanks for looking after our half of the house for us, we'll now go home and do the same for you!"
Now, my dad, he runs in to someone he knows almost everywhere we go! Its almost creepy!

We were waiting for Soarin' and scrolling thru facebook posts saw that a close friend was chaperoning her daughter's choir group. She had posted a pic of them in front of Spaceship Earth (they were performing at Candlelight Processional at EPCOT). Saw her daughter later that day as she was processing in for performance. Gave her a wave and thumbs up. As we were leaving that night we saw friend and the group meeting up to leave as well. Got in a quick hug and laugh before we both had to leave.

We met our local baker with his wife and children outside of the American Pavilion in EPCOT. He had told everyone, including his family, they were going to DLP but surprised them at the airport with the news they were off to Florida. :)

In May 2011 we ran into a family from our neighborhood in the food court at POR and in Aug 2011 we ran into a guy who went to college with my husband on the bus on the way back to POR.

This happened to me when I was there with my parents when I was a Sophomore in high school. We were watching the outdoor "pre-show" of the Tiki Birds, we turn around and saw my 8th grade history teacher. We caught up for a few minutes after the show before heading our separate ways.

I ran into 3 people with a stroller. Dont they understand I'm important!

:rotfl2:

We ran into my aunt and uncle and their kids at animal kingdom, we hadnt seen them for five years as they live in another province! Neither family knew the other was there!

I've run into people from college as well as other Disney brides that I chat with on our Facebook group.

My Dad's a high school principal at the same school for 20 years, every vacation we go on we wait for him to run into someone he taught, or someone who went to his school, or that he at least knows from town. It's almost odd when he doesn't see a former student. We have a running clock until Dad is off talking to somebody and the rest of us have no idea who they are. It makes him feel good that so many former students come up and say hello and are excited to see him. I guess you don't say hi to the teachers you didn't like.

We have run into my DH's dentist, the owner of a local restaurant we frequent and one of my oldest son s classmates.

Our oddest run in was very off season on the island of Capri in Italy. We ran into one of DH's co workers. Neither knew the other would be in Italy and we were, like, the only tourists there in March.

2 years ago we ran into one of my co-workers staying at same resort as us early in the trip....then on our last day of the same trip we ran into one of DH's co-workers. When we got home we also found out 2 other families from our church had been at the same time as us, though we never saw them there.

Happened to us in 2006. One night we decided to stop at Sci-Fi restaurant on a whim. ADRs were not nearly as popular as they are now so they walked us right in. Just as we were being seated we ran into our neighbors who also have kids the same age as our own. (DD was good friends with their daughter, but didn't know we'd be there at the same time). Turns out they were staying at POFQ and we were at POR. We had the kids all sit in one "car" and the adults in another. Very memorable moment and we have the pictures to prove it! :)

A few years back, I was riding on the Triceratops Spin in AK when I spotted a little girl & her Mom that I recognized from our weekly story time at the library. They were on the ground and we were in the air.

Last year, we went to Universal for spring break. While standing in line for One Fish Two Fish, I heard some say my name in a questioning manner. It was a sorority sister from college ... I had not seen her in 16 years! We live about two hours apart but had to travel across the country to see each other!

Last time we went down I ran into a family from our cub scout troop at POP and then again at Animal Kingdom. They happened to be staying in the room directly below us!
Another small world moment: While studying abroad in London I saw a friend at a show in London and then again at the bus station in Dublin. Years later he moved to Chicago and I ran into him at a movie theatre in Rochester NY, He was originally from Syracuse. Weird!

On the way home from WDW last year, we ran into my brother-in-law on the road in northern TN. He's a truck driver, and I knew he was in the area, but thought he was 40 miles or so ahead of us.

We saw a truck with his company's name on it (large company, it could have been anyone), passed the truck, saw it was him, and moved into the lane in front of his truck. I called him and, at the same time, we both asked each other, "what are you doing here?!" Stopped at the next rest stop to say hello. :)

We ran into our next door neighbors at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot. Neither of us knew the other was going to Disney that weekend...and we live next to each other! :rotfl2:

We have to go during Fall Break, and we see people we know every single time.

We took a Disney cruise during one Fall Break and there were two other families on the boat that we knew. We spent much of our Castaway Cay day hanging out with one of those families. The people we were set up for our meals with were from another town in Kentucky not far away from us.

It's gotten to the point where we wonder if we're going to have a park day where we DON'T run into someone we know.

A friend from college who came to our wedding and we went to theirs. Ran into him and his wife as we were walking out of AC in PI, just in time for the countdown and "New Year's" fireworks.

I ran into my ex-father-in-law. I hate him. He hates me. But the kids were with me so I had to put on a friendly face. Ugh.
