I'm certain the answers are here in past posts so forgive me.

We will be traveling with our 2 year old DGD this summer. Her few out to dinner experiences have been fine (so far) but you never know.

Question 1: Will they pick up your child from the restaurants so they don't have to sit through a long experience? We'd like her to be with us if possible but not sure if she could make it. Assuming this has to be prearranged. Just curious if she has a melt down during dinner and it's not prearranged if you can make a quick call for pickup if they have availability.

Question 2: Do they offer meals to the children in the nursery or do you have to provide something or feed them prior to dropping off?

Getting close to our being able to reserve time in the nursery so we want to plan ahead.

Thanks everyone!

I wondered about the food thing too. He eats regular table food, but I'm not sure if they do that in the nursery?

I am not sure about meals in the nursery, but I do know that there is no pickup service. Babies & toddlers must be dropped off at the nursery in person, and that time must be pre-booked to ensure space. Drop ins are allowed only if reservations have not filled up. AND if you drop off you have to give a concrete time you will be picking up your child, as it may interfere with later reservations.

Thanks for the info on pickup service.

Does anyone have experience with the meal situation in the nursery? Snacks?

Again... feed her before she goes or send her with a personal buffet?

No pick up for the nursery. In the past they would feed the children food that you sent with them.

Suggestion (if you want her to eat with you)...schedule a nursery time about an hour into your dinner time. Take her to the dining room and feed her there. Mom can excuse herself between entree and dessert and take her to the nursery.

From what I remember we had to provide food for the nursery to feed our ds who was almost 2 at the time. We would take food from Buffett and make him a plate. This time for our second ds who will be in the nursery in April, we will bring on board a lunch box with Tupperware type containers to make his meals more convenient in the nursery.

The only pickup service is for the kids clubs. The nursery is 3 years old and younger, not potty trained, and it is drop off only. As far as the meals, they will feed your child the food you give them. They will also feed your toddler food from the ship if you allow them and if your child is there during meal times. For example we have taken DD there before noon and somewhere around noon they had a lunch. They will only feed around meal times as that is when food is delivered (around noon for lunch and around 6pm for dinner). Because of health regulations they do not leave food sitting around longer than a certain period of time. Nor do they order a late lunch or dinner for the child, etc. They do have some snacks on hand but we usually just give them our own. If you want them to feed your child you just need to let them know what you would like them to do, they are usually very accommodating. If we are not taking DD till later in the evening, we usually do room service in the room or we take her to topsiders/beach blanket/cabanas for dinner. I know your question is about a 2 year old, but I just have one more note to make in case anyone else is wondering. I do not believe that they can provide formula for babies from the ship, when DD was that young we provided our own jars of mashed food or the necessary bottles for feeding.

Snack type foods like chips and cookies, or goldfish are allowed in the nursery as well as sippy cups or bottles.

But no hot meals from either the MDR or QS restaurants is allowed.

On the Magic (January 21, 2012) we were not allowed to bring in any hot meals. They provided food from the dining rooms. The reason they told us was allergies of (other) children. They always had chicken nuggets or pizza and fruit. I would provide milk and juice. They had water (for drinking or mixing with formula).

If you think you will be utilizing the nursery, then you MUST reserve ahead of time. We booked the nursery 6:30 - 8 pm every night for our 5:45 seating. The servers would bring out the kids meals (we had one in the nursery, one in the kids club) with our appetizers and salads. Then we would bring them to the nursery and club and then come back to finish our entree and dessert in blessed peace:rolleyes1. That worked really well and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't think their child would last for a 2 hour meal :rotfl2:

They will provide meals for the kids at lunch time and dinner time. Usually if you drop off at a certain meal time, they ask if its ok if they get that meal. I think our son always ate the meals offered...The nursery has always been a very nice experience and we had used it on all 3 of our cruises.

Thank you all so much for the advice and tips. We'll get a tupperware container with snacks and reserve space in advance.

You will be able to book a few spots online when you are eligible to book excursions, spa dates, etc. If you need more spots in the nursery, you can check after you board the ship to see what is available.
