I have done daycare for this family for 6 years and had all three of their kids. Well the youngest one will be in kindergarten next year and they go all day here. They have hired a school girl to watch all of their kids so it is the little girls last day here. This is the first child i have had leave that i have taken care of since she has been a baby. I didn't think it would be this hard for me, but it will be different not to see the child or the family anymore. Sorry, just a litte depressed right now and had to get it out--thanks for listening!!!
Pam

I'd be a little depressed too. Six years is a long time and this seems so final because you won't be seeing her siblings/family anymore either. Do they live in your neighborhood? Perhaps you'll see them out and about. If not, I'd definitely make arrangements with the parents to keep in touch! ::yes::

I'm so sorry. DH and I have a private nanny for our DS 20 months. She also took care of DS 10yrs. When it was time for DS 10yrs. to start school she was devestated. Well, she came up with a perfect solution - on some weekends he will stay over there for a night. She is MUCH more than just a nanny - she is like my children's grandmother, they both call her Nana - I know she loves them both as if they were her own.::yes:: :sunny:

I know right now it is tough on you and it probably will be for awhile but try to look at the bright side...sounds like you had a real good relationship with the child and family. Think of ALL the good you have done for the child. That should cheer you up plus what you have done over the years will NEVER be forgotten by the child or the family or you. You have been and ARE a truly great person and I'm sure it's not going un-noticed.:)

Awwww, what a big and beautiful heart you have, Pam. A tough day for sure. And some wonderful thoughts here too. A long distance  You sound so nice.

 I'm sure you'll be OK....:D It is tough seeing them leave though...

I'm sure that must be so difficult, Pam.
You were such a large part of their lives. I'm sure they will remember you always for this.
Hang in there. :)

Thank you for all the kind words you all gave to me! I knew you guys would make me feel better! It is Sunday right now and i know it will be different with out her tom. but our oldest kids are in the same sports this summer so I will be seeing them at the parks but as you know it will not be the same.
Just wanted to drop a note to thank you all!!

I know exactly what you are going through. I also owned a home daycare before I had children- years ago... and I also went through watching a brother/sister for many years and then when they got old enough for school they moved away... tore me up!

In fact- so much so that I stopped the daycare then. I had a few others (the rest of the children I was caring for at that time) old enough for school that year so I just didn't bother getting new children to care for. I think in my case though- it was because we were unable to have children for years and I'd grown a little too attached to some of the children.. including the brother/sister that moved away when they were older.

I'm sure they'll remember you! But I know the feelings you are going through right now. :( *hugs*

I used to work with infants in Montessori preschool. They come to you as babies and you take care of them for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for over a year usually. You grow to love them (well, some of them), then they leave your class. Our center only went to age 2-1/2, so after that we didn't see them AT ALL usually. It is very sad.
