It's a-LIVE, a-LiVE...Trip Report, That Is

My kids are looking forward to Animal Kingdom. I hope we get some close ups like those giraffes when we go.

Also, side note, your trip report has influenced me! I made the ADR for Yachtsman today for date night! Yummo, can't wait.

I think you will definitely enjoy it! Bring your appetite!

Great report! :) I kind of want to do my own live report for our trip in October, but I don't know if I could keep up! About how much time do you spend each day working on it, if you don't mind me asking?

Happy Anniversary! I have never followed a live trip report or any trip report but I am enjoying yours!

We also love the Pop and most likely will be staying there next year for our 20th anniv.

I usually do the text parts a little bit at a time throughout the day, usually as we are waiting in line. Then I put the pictures in using Photobucket when I get back to the resort because the cellular connection is wonky at the parks and won't always let me upload. It probably takes at least an hour to finish the day's posts, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the amount of pics I have to post.

Thanks for following! Disney is a great place to spend an anniversary. Did you marry in the 90s? If so, you should request the 90s section. :-)

This morning we headed to DHS, planning to get there as close to rope drop as possible. When we arrived at the bus stop, there was a bus there, but it was already full. When it pulled away, there was still a long line of people waiting. It took at least 15-20 minutes for another bus to get there, and in the meantime, three MK buses came, even though the first MK bus at the bus stop still hadn't pulled out. It made me wish they could just switch over a bus' destination if they saw another bus stop was packed.

We made it to DHS right around nine and headed right over to Tower of Terror. I snapped a picture of the sorcerer's hat on our way back.

Luckily, there was only a ten minute wait for Tower of Terror.

After we got off of Tower of Terror, we checked to see how long the wait was to get back on. It was about 35 minutes, so we decided to get fastpasses and head over to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

The wait for RnR was listed as 35 minutes, but we only waited about 20 minutes before loading into our "limos."

After RnR, we headed back to use our fastpasses for Tower of Terror.

We were certainly glad we got them, as the standby wait was now 70 minutes! We were able to board within five minutes with our fastpasses though! :woohoo:

By the time we got off of Tower of Terror, it was time to head over to Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater for our 11:10 lunch reservation. More on that in the next post!

We arrived at Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater just before 11, and were seated within ten minutes.

I had never been to Sci-Fi before, so I was pretty impressed with the theming of the restaurant when we first stepped inside. I loved the cheesy old movie clips they play, as well as the dim lighting and 50s decor.

In addition to the normal soft drinks served at most restaurants, Sci-Fi also has several specialty drinks included in the price of your meal on the Disney Dining Plan. We each decided to get one of these drinks. I got the Oreo cookie milkshake. It was sooooo good!!! I like my milkshakes nice and thick, and that's the way they make them. My husband got a cherry flavored coke.

For our appetizers, my husband ordered the chicken wings, and I got spinach and artichoke dip. Both were good.

For our entrees, my husband got the angus chuck burger, and I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with fries (instead of the cucumber salad it originally came with--I can't stand cucumbers!) The portions for each were huge, so I only ate half of my sandwich. Both entrees were pretty good.

I was so full by the time we finished our entrees that I almost didn't get the dessert I had been looking forward to--the peanut butter chocolate cake. (I love the combination of those two flavors.) However, my husband suggested I just order it anyway and take a few bites. I did, and I am glad; it was delicious! Still, I was only able to eat about 1/4 of it!

My husband got a hot fudge sundae, which he said was very good.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Sci-Fi. We wanted to try it since we had never been there before, but I had heard mixed reviews and was slightly apprehensive. We thought the food was decent, though, and I loved the atmosphere, so I think we will definitely go back sometime in the future.

Stay tuned for the rest of our afternoon!

After lunch, we were going to ride Star Tours, but the wait was almost 40 minutes, so we decided to try back later.

Instead, we headed over to Muppet Vision 3D. This show has been around since I was a kid, but I still love it. I am a HUGE Muppets fan!

We were thinking about heading back to the resort after Muppets, but we thought we would check Star Tours again to see if there was a shorter wait...and there was! We only had to wait ten minutes.

We hadn't been on it since they switched the ride to 3D, but we greatly enjoyed the change.

After Star Tours, we headed to the bus stop to go back to our resort for a couple of hours. Amazingly, once again, there was a Pop bus waiting for us. There is almost always one there waiting or loading when we leave the park. I don't know if we are just having great luck, or if the Pop buses are just that awesome.

We arrived back at the resort a little after two, with plans to rest for a couple of hours before heading back to DHS for dinner at The Brown Derby! More on that later!

Thanks for posting the pictures of Sci-Fi. We are looking forward to Sci-Fi on our trip; know it doesnt always get the best reviews but we loved it when we went last and LOVE the atmosphere!

We headed down to the bus stop at about 5:15 and found a bus waiting there for us. :woohoo:

We arrived at DHS a little past 5:30, and headed towards The Hollywood Brown Derby, stopping on the way to get a Photopass picture. We arrived at Brown Derby about fifteen minutes early, so my husband ran over to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster to get us some fastpasses.

We checked in for our reservation around six and were seated almost immediately.

When they brought out the drinks, they also brought out this yummy crusty bread.

For our appetizers, I got the blue lump crab spring rolls, and my husband got the Cobb salad. Both were pretty good.

For our entrees, my husband ordered a marinated pork chop dish, and I got a stuffed chicken breast. (The names for them were a bit more wordy than that, but I didn't write them down.)

My husband greatly enjoyed his pork chop. My chicken was okay, but not quite as yummy as I anticipated based on the description. Plus, the potatoes were lukewarm. I liked the entree I ordered here last year better.

For dessert, I ordered the chocolate three ways, and my husband chose the banana-white chocolate toffee tower on cocoa-almond cookie and bananas "Foster." They also brought us chocolate mousse with candles in it for our anniversary.

The chocolate three ways was good; it had a very unique taste to it because one of the layers was chocolate-orange. It was very rich, so I only ate about half. I also had some of the mousse, which was also very good but rich. My husband also really liked his dessert. I tried a bite and thought it was good too; it was much less rich than my dessert or the mousse.

Overall, we had an enjoyable meal at Brown Derby, even if I didn't love my entree.

Next up--Rides and Fantasmic!

I know--I don't know why they get bad reviews. Maybe they just have bad days sometimes?

After dinner, we headed over to Toy Story Midway Mania to redeem fastpasses we had gotten earlier in the day. (We had gotten them around noon, and the return time wasn't until a little after seven!)

The standby line was 90 minutes, but with the fastpasses we only waited about ten minutes. :woohoo:

During the short wait, we snapped a couple of pics of us in our 3-D glasses:

My husband swore he was going to beat me as payback for my beating him on Buzz Lightyear at the MK. I thought he was right because he usually kills me at Toy Story Midway Mania. However, I was wrong! I totally kicked his butt on it. (He was player 1, and I was player 2.)

I love the theming around Pixar Place, so I took another picture on the way out:

The cast member in charge of the pre-show movie did some funny ad-libbing to go along with what Steven Tyler was saying.

Fun fact: I am pretty sure the guy working the recording studio controls in the pre-show movie is Ken Marino, an actor from a few TV shows I watched like Veronica Mars and Party Down.

Next, we headed over to Tower of Terror.

My husband had grabbed fastpasses for this before we got on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. We used them, but we didn't really need to because the standby line would have been just as quick. I took this picture of one of the nifty signs they have hanging up in the lobby as we waited in line.

When we got off, the standby line was still rather short, so we rode a second time without any real wait. By the time we got off the second time around, we only had time for one more ride before Fantasmic. Any guesses as to which one? Stay tuned for the answer in the next post.

Before heading over to Fantasmic, we had time for one more ride, so we chose The Great Movie Ride.

There really wasn't any wait, and before we knew it, we had boarded our vehicles and were waiting for the ride to start:

Throughout the ride, I took quite a few pictures. As you will see in the photos below, we got the gangster rather than the cowboy. (I can't remember if we have ever even had the cowboy, but I know I have seen him mentioned in other trip reports.)

I love the movie clips at the end. It always makes me a little emotional when I hear the Gone with the Wind song. I am not sure why; it just has that effect on me. It's such a beautiful song, and I love the movie too.

Well, that's it for The Great Movie Ride!

Next up:
Fantasmic?!?!?
(Note the question marks...)

Love the pics! I've never been on TGMR, but I want to try it next time. :) Come on, did you make it to F! ?
