We went to Everything Pop, bought our refillable mug, 2 waters and a snack for each of us. I bought nerds and Marc bought some mixed nuts. We also had the joy of trying our first slushie coke. Yum! DH toasted the TK clan for us!
On the way back to our room, I took some pictures of the 50's area.
I also spotted a fellow DISer's room window! Bentleygirl22. I was jealous of her mad decorating skills. It's not a great picture but you get the idea. I am too lazy to edit it and flip it the right way. Photobucket is not my friend recently.
Once we had gotten back to the room, we changed and went swimming. It had stopped raining. *Rolls eyes* The swim was very nice. I was commenting on the great shape of the pool and DH looks at me funny. Sigh. He didn't realize it was a bowling pin shape. How do you not see that? I asked him what he thought the bowling balls were for on the side of the pool and he goes, "What bowling balls?". Men. Pfffft. It was a nice swim, relaxing and the rain stayed away.
After the swim we showered and checked out the Pop food court for the second time for that day. DH got the Mediterranean Chicken Flatbread and I got the Chicken Fingers with french fries. We both got the mixed fruit bowls.
DH really liked his flatbread, I had a bite of it but thought the flavoring was a bit strong. While I liked it, I know I couldn't have eaten the whole thing because of the flavoring. The chicken fingers were okay, nothing great but edible so that's a plus. The fruit was really, really, REALLY good. It tasted so great and just really hit the spot.
During our trek through Epcot I developed a strong feeling about Vera and that was that she was not Disney material. Don't get me wrong, I love Vera, I even bring her to work everyday but she was just too cumbersome for the parks. I know. I know. DH now refers to me as the bag lady with bag drama. We ventured into the Pop gift shop to check out their bag offerings. We came away with a cute little backpack thingy for $19.95. DH informed me once I picked it out that he had a bag at home just like that and why didn't we bring it? I told him that I had no idea such a bag existed at our house and that he should have told me. Pffft. I happily bought my new backpack and also a $6 water bottle carrier thing. Ridiculous amount of money but it's cute. It's on a carabineer clip and it holds a bottle of water with a Mickey head shape doohickey. I don't know how to describe it. You are going to have to wait for pictures, we took some of the bag on the next day. I am not that nice to share everything all at once.
Another picture along the way.
After we got back to the room, DH noticed that our towel rack was broken so we called Mousekeeping/Maintenance and they said they would come by to fix it tomorrow morning.
Overall, we had a good first day. We were both very tired at this point and thought it was a good idea to come back to the room instead of staying for Illuminations. We had to get up early the next day for a certain park opening and an ADR. Oh and in case you were wondering, even though I was worried about not taking enough pictures because of the rain, my first day I took 122 pictures. It's a disease.
Does our wake up call work?
Do we make our ADR on time?
Who gets chosen to open a certain land?
