I've read a lot of opinions on Bug's Life - but I still don't really know what actually happens that makes people freak out/enjoy the show so much?

Anyone fancy sharing their experiences?

I think that not knowing what happens probably enhances the experience. But with that in mind Try not to miss this attraction.
It is one of the best! We went early in the morning and did not wait at all.

My disabled daughter did not. We do Disney almost every year. the first time we did Bug's Life... she was in awe of it as she didn't quite understand what was happening.
Now she knows what it is she doesn't like it at all. I think however it is a sensory issue. It is really loud and people do jump and yell out.... but I wouldn't say it was scarey except for really little kids. Remember also that it is a dark venue so kids who have issues with being in the dark should probably avoid it!

I liked the show, but I think it is too short. The special effects are great & I can see how some kids would not enjoy this show. Remember that kids often have a hard time differentiating between real and make believe.

My 13 year old DD hates this but did it for my sake this time around. She freaks out around bugs. At the end, it feels like bugs are moving under your behind. She just sat on the floor when she knew that part was coming up!

It is dark and loud and if you have any bug issues, it might be a problem. I loved it, though. Bug's Life and Philharmagic are both just incredible shows!

My 3 year old DS likes bugs, but has darkness issues. He made it through PhilharMagic and MuppetVision with some hesitation, but he was ok. How does ITTBAB compare to these?

Almost exactly the same except for content. It also has a few of the physical elements of "Honey, I shrunk the Audience".

I guess I am just jaded but I have never seen anything scary at WDW. Nothing is real looking enough to be scary. I am aware that as an adult I process things differently than a child but I always just reminded my kids that it was all makebelieve and nothing was actually going to hurt them. It seemed to work.

My dh and I really enjoyed it, it was fun! We didn't take our boys to it last trip, they were 3.5 and 17 months. We felt it would be too much for them.

If you don't like bugs, then it's not the thing to do LOL. I'm not afraid of bugs, but rather they didn't touch me, lol, and some of the show made me jump and made my skin crawl, but it's all in fun! :)

The show is actually called It's Tough to be a Bug, right?

This is a must-do for us...we absolutely love it. We don't have kids, though. The one thing we can count on, however, is at least two or three families running for the exits.

We tried ITTBAB last year with DD11 and DD3 and they both freaked out:scared1: The effects at the very beginning did them in....I think all the people screaming is what really upset them. Luckily we sat near the exit and I was able to make a quick getaway.

We did it last week and my 9 yo Ds freaked out, I think if we could have warned him about some of the things going on he would have been OK. I think he was thinking just 3D like Spy kids 3D movie but it was a little more. We had to drag him into Mickey's Philharmonic after that.

:o Yes it is. I really do hate it when people get the names of things wrong *Hangs head in shame*. Why must we always become like those we hate?:teeth:

I think it is a great show. Actually, I think it is the best 3D show in DW (I haven't seen the new one at MK though). Its cute, the effects are great and it is funny as well.

That being said, I can see why it would scare a few kids off. I'm not scared when the "in your seat" effects roll through but I scream pretty loud!

It's a lot of fun, but just make sure your kids are ready for it. I've seen too many leave crying!

LOL! Well, I was sitting here hoping I didn't miss out on a new show!!

My DD5, who is as tough as nails and who loves Haunted Mansion and who also rode Test Track for the first time last week - HATES that show!!! We took her last November and she was on the floor covering her eyes and SCREAMING along with all the other little kids in the audience.

If you sit in the back you see more of the effects. Near the end it is dark, the lights flash and the grasshoppers come down from the ceiling - very intense!!!

I think it's a fun show, but if you only mention it to DD she says over and over that she will NOT go on it ever again.

That said, some kids will go to the show and have no problem at all.

When she was younger she thought the bugs had actually sprayed acid on her.

Our whole family enjoyed it and DD5 (who was 4yrs old our last trip) is pretty easily "freaked out"!

The part that has scared the kids the most is Hopper's dramatic entrance (on your far right of the stage) and the part that got me is when the bugs run under your butt:earseek: !

as an adult who hates bugs and get weak when she sees them, I did not enjoy the show. I felt it was too intense, and part of what made it bad for me was hearing all the little kids freak out. I will not be taking any of my future kids to this show until they are around 9/10 years old.

My DD 7, absolutely freaked out last week at ITTBAB. DH had to take her out. 3.5 year old loved it. Go figure. Went to Philharmagic a few days later and when she saw the glasses, freaked again. She made it through with her head in my lap and her ears covered, too bad because she would have loved it, but was afraid it might be like the bug show. IMHO the shows are way WAY too loud.

Our entire family loved it! My oldest just turned 4 and the twins just turned 2 and there were no problems. They didn't keep their glasses on though because they just don't like things on their faces, so maybe that helped. My kids love the Bugs Life movie and one of their favorite parts in it is when Hopper makes a grand entrance into the ant hill, so I think the attraction at AK didn't phase them because they had seen the movie so often.

I love this show...EXCEPT for the part when the smoke comes pouring out (not sure if thats the "acid" part) it makes me really claustrophobic when usually stuff like that doesnt bother me! I will still ride on it but I wouldnt be too upset to miss it for this reason. :(
