ITIN US embassy help!

Hi I’m buying a resale contract via Fidelity and it’s an international sellers. I’ve been told I need an ITIN and have to get my passport certified by us embassy in London, is this correct? I’m not heard of any of this in my research

You need a US notary to sign it, doesn’t have to be someone from the US Embassy . You may have someone locally who can do this for you.

Did you get your passports notorised/certified by someone other than the US Embassy - if so were they accepted ok??? or did you end up going to the embassy??
