Other than two one day visits to USF in 1991 and 1996, we have not "done" Universal. We are arriving on Thursday, July 31 in the morning and will be leaving the following Monday night. Any thoughts and suggestions as far as a suggested itenerary would be greatly appreciated. We will be staying at the RPH. Various questions and background:

Do the crowds lessen late in the day?

Will the crowds vary from day to day?

Is one park busier than the other?

What shows are not misses?

Is CityWalk worth going to?

We are considering going to Animal Kingdom to eat at Boma one night and to visit the giant Buzz at the All Star Movies

On Monday night, the wife and kids will be dropping me off at the Contemporary for a business meeting, then driving to Miami.

Kids are 10, 8 and 5

Hi,

I will try and answer the questions that I can. If the search function is working on this board, search for things you are interested in and you will find a world of information. You can also just scroll through the messages until you see one that interests you.

Do the crowds lessen late in the day?

We have been to Universal twice during the time you plan to be there. As I remember, the crowds don't really get smaller later BUT since you are staying onsite and will have your room key card to use as an Express Pass anytime - the crowds really don't matter. You don't usually have to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes at the most for even the most popular rides. There is also an Express line for some of the shows. You have to get there 15 minutes early, I think, for priority seating in the shows. Truly, the crowds aren't really a consideration when you stay onsite. It is REALLY great!!

Will the crowds vary from day to day?

The crowds seem pretty consistent each day, to me, that time of the year.

Is one park busier than the other? Not really, to me anyway, someone else may have another answer.

What shows are not misses?

All the shows are enjoyable. We like Sinbad in IOA. There is an outdoor street show in Seussland that your children would like. I'm not sure if there have been changes for the summer, but the Wild West show and the Animal Planet show are good, too.

Is CityWalk worth going to?

You will go through CityWalk on your way to the parks from the RP. It (CW) is located between the two parks. And it is a fun place. There are fun restaurants - Margaritaville is one we never miss.

Hope this helps a little.

Nan

Texowl2,
I'll be there the week of July 13. I'll post a message on how the crowds are, etc.

You didn't ask about rides and attractions so I'm assuming that you already have a good idea of what you'll do.

As for Citywalk, it is really fun. My 10 year old liked it as well as I did I think. Great restaurants, a few good shops, loud music and a theater if you get the urge. Not to mention a Starbucks which made me happy. :p

I saw that you mentioned eating at Boma. Good choice but I just wanted to make sure that you knew it was at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and not Animal Kingdom. Be sure to get to the Lodge early so that you can explore and see how many animals you can spot from the viewing area.

Just an idea...since you all have to drive to the Contemporary anyway, why not go a little early and have dinner at Chef Mickey's? That way, the kids will get to see the characters if you would like them to.
