Day 3 Our supposedly rest day

Today we decided that because we were having a late night at the Halloween party that we would have a rest day today and just take things easy. So we woke up as late as we were allowed by Seth who had slept through most of the party so he wasn’t utilising the opportunity for a sleep in. Why do kids not realise the benefits of sleeping late arrrrghhhh. We didn’t have anywhere to be until our 4.00 pm reservation at the Coral Reef Restaurant at EPCOT so we had a nice leisurely breakfast and decided to go and do a spot of shopping at the Florida Mall so I looked up the map that tricky little map and worked out where we needed to go. It was raining as we set off and we congratulated ourselves (somewhat prematurely I might add) of deciding to have this day as our rest day.

Then we hit a traffic jam, it would appear that everyone had the same idea as us this day and thought they would get a jump on their Christmas shopping as the road was hardly moving. Anyway the kids had woken up from their nap and where getting a bit hungry so we decided to stop at a Wendy’s for some lunch and then go and have a look in the massive Walmart near it. WOW did I have fun. Got stuck in the Christmas ribbon aisle brought a whole lot of Christmas type ribbon and some packaging with my poor husband dispearing on how we would get it home. Luckily for him I changed my mind on the toys I had picked out for the kids. Everything is so cheap over there compared to here it is just so frustrating having to pay double for it here and we don’t have nearly the same variety of stuff. We did a bit of shopping picked up some more nappies and wipes for the kids and headed off home to unpack it all before heading to EPCOT for dinner reservation. Upon arrival Doug and I went and got fast passes for Mission Space while Grandma and Pa and the kids walked over to Nemo. We got back and got into line for the ride and the kids enjoyed it again, when we came off the ride we wandered around the aquarium, we were going to get a photo in the Bruce’s mouth but the line was way too long. We then went and checked in for our meal at Coral Reef, we had a very small wait before being shown our table which was the second tier next to the tank. So it was a great position, no body could crowd our table to get close to the tank to see but we were facing the tank with nothing in our way of the view. There was a fabulous massive turtle sitting right in front, which was a great debate of whether it was alive or not. Cullen and I both had drinks with the flashing Captain Hook and Tinkerbell in it, I had the standard drink it came with and Cullen had sprite, he took a liking to lemonade every time we sat down at a place to eat, he would look at the waitress and say straight up lemonade and chips (fries) please, didn’t matter if it was breakfast, lunch or dinner he just thought that is what you ordered.

We didn’t have starters here as we weren’t really hungry after our supposed light lunch at Wendys. Grandma had a starter for her main of Land and Sea which she said was lovely. Doug and Grandpa had Blackened Catfish, which Doug loved Grandpa found it too spicy, I had grouper on a scallop and mushroom risotto and it was heavenly, tied with my meal at Californian Grill for best meal of our trip. Cullen and Seth were to share the Grilled fish of the day which was suppose to be salmon but they came back and said they didn’t have any I can’t remember what they replaced it with. They ate a little bit but both kids were quite tired and weren’t really interested in eating. Well Seth was but he just wanted milk, and there wasn’t a lot of room in the booth to get him on my lap. He was a little cranky but did ok, he did eat a little bit of his fish when I mixed it with my risotto. Dessert was a must and Doug and I had the Chocolate Wave and the Creme Brulee and shared half each, can’t remember what the others had, I remember liking my desserts. Seth ate the fruit yoghurt that came with the meal and we ordered ice-cream for Cullen to eat. The waitress, was ok she seemed a bit busy and flustered and given it was only 4.00 I had a feeling the rest of her shift wasn’t going to go that well, I remember asking her for something and she didn’t seem too happy with the request. Obviously she got her tip as we were a table of 6 and it was included and her service wasn’t so bad that I wanted to ask to see the manager and get it reduced.

After dinner, we thought we might ride with the kids on Ellens Energy Adventure as we missed it on our first go round at EPCOT. So we wandered over there and walked right in. Now while we were standing around watching Ellen DeGeneres do her thing the kids were not doing well. We also didn’t know if this was the entire attraction and we would have to stand up for all of it. They then mentioned you could leave so we did. Grandma and Grandpa rode while Doug and I took the kids outside. They said they enjoyed it but it was a wise decision not to ride with the kids. Doug and the kids played on the grass outside the ride and I went shopping. Got the kid their first soft toy Mickey Mouse toys. The line to be served was massive. When I arrived back the kids were filthy with running up and down the grass well Seth crawling up and down the grass. Grandma and Grandpa arrived out just after I got back and then took the kids to Innovention while we (Doug and I) headed for Mission Space. Now I was all keen for the Orange side not one that scares easily by the time I got to getting into my spaceship I was quite worried that it was going to be very bad what with all the warnings being announced on your walk to the "ship". Well it was fabulous the best ride I think at EPCOT. Hubby not as keen on it but he is always good to try something once but I wouldn’t have got him on it again well not that day anyway. I would like to do the Green side to see what the difference was. Now I did feel a bit sick afterward but by golly that wouldn’t stop me from riding it. Did I mention best ride I did at EPCOT......

After our ride we went and collected the kids and Grandolds from Innoventions, Cullen was having a fabulous time (from memory) he was pushing buttons????? (may not be right) To make a door slam. What ever he was doing he was having a great time. Seth was done in by now and getting a bit cranky so we said goodbye to EPCOT and headed out and home. Yes we got lost but we were getting better at finding our way back home it was certainly taking less time.

I think your little ones did exceptionally well at EPCOT (often regarded as an adult park). Sounds like everyone found something to enjoy. Glad you tried Coral Reef and other than your less than bubbly server, found it a good experience. Coral Reef is on my all-time favorites list. Have to smile when I read a UK DISer being enthusiastic about Wal-Mart. I'm sure it would have made Mr. Sam proud to know he's an attraction for vacationers at WDW!

We loved Coral Reef, it was so nice and I actually found the place quite relaxing, I think it helped having a very early dinner time.

Walmart can't say enough good stuff about the place. I love US shopping, we bought two new suitcases to bring it all back to the UK well it wasn't all from Walmart I did do alot of shopping in other shops as well.

Apart from your waitress sounds like you had a great time at Coral Reef :)

Im loving your report !!
We had issues with our waiters too. I actually thought that bcause we were a party of 6 and they knew they were getting the tip anyway that there was no incentive to serve us as wel as a table with less on it !!
Hey u had a good day and thats all that matters !

great that you enjoyed mission space. i think you either love it or hate it.

sounds like a fab day

I think that it is a bit of a laugh that you known as a table of 6 with a baby, he didn't eat or do much. But anyway it made it easier to work out the tipping thing, we just paid what they said. Would have worked it out at 20% so they lost out a bit. I was being stubborn as I didn't like their silly rule. So I never added extra than what they said I "had" to pay.

Yeah hubby wasn't too keen on it.

Hubby, was more worried when I went off to couple of malls on my own, I always buy heaps when I have great sales assistants, in the US they bring you the stuff, you don't have to put on all your clothes again and go and find the right sizes.

you are brave riding mission space :scared1:

You should do something every day that scares you. Give it a go I dare you. ;)

You should have at least one go, you might love it. Or go on the green side and work your way up. ;) You should also eat at the Coral Reef, it was very nice.

Lovely day, shame about the waitress
I suspect the rest of her shift wasn't that good, maybe she was having a bad day, it happens.

Oh yes I can believe your excitement it was great. Bring on American shopping.

They loved that sort of stuff. He was so excited when his Daddy and I arrived from our Mission Space journey to show us how he could slam the door.

Coral Reef looked lovely, shame your shopping trip was cut short.

Good on you for giving Mission Space a go.

It isn't one I have done yet, and don't really have much intention to - but with my DD never say never.
Good TR - thanks

Well done on Riding Mission Space, Im not keen myself:scared1:Great day:goodvibes

Another lovely day. All the reports about MS put me off it as I didn't want any of us to be poorly all day. We go on the green side which is fine.

Oh my goodness this tells it all:

Day 3 Our supposedly rest day

How cool that you found ribbon and things you liked at Wally World!! I can't imagine that you have to pay twice the price at home! Ouch!

Your coral reef picture is great!! I'm glad your day turned out so nicely!
