It so cold in the South.

I feel for you all, but I'll be thrilled if temps are colder than normal on half-marathon day! Besides, it'll still feel better than it does here right now (13°, not including any wind chill effect). I'm trying desperately not to absolutely crank the heat but I might have to give in soon.

Its 53 right now, at 8Pm...in Miami....I can't imagine what it will be like at 5am when I have to go to work.:headache:

cold in the SOUTH!? it's 12 degrees here, took DH 45 minutes to shovel his way out of the driveway this morning, we got 3 feet of snow!!

it's good motivation for me to tell myself "we WILL be moving away from this crap in the next few years"

Too darn cold for me!!! I live in Miami for a reason and it's surely not the cold! Bundle up tomorrow!

I am freezing here in Ga. I'm in bed with my cold nose and feet. I'm going to have to jump in the shower to warm up! I think if it's going to continue to be this cold, it might as well snow so they can cancel work tomorrow!;)

I just walked the Chihuahuas and there is a lot of wind blowing out there now, so that it feels much colder than it did this morning, even though it is 6 degrees warmer out there right now. The dogs are so miserable out there, I just don't have the heart to play the "Mama doesn't care if you are cold right now, you need to go Pee AND Poo" card. Thank God for potty pads!

It is currently a nice 43 degrees here in Orlando. But I'll take that over the 18 degrees it was in Nashville before I boarded my flight home this morning!!!

I am reconsidering my plans to move from FL. Low 40 temps are cold, but nothing that will keep me from going out and about. The 18 degree and lower crap makes me want to sit inside and do nothing all day - I don't think I could handle that all winter!

I just watched the evening news - In Nashville - it will 10 degrees in the morning. 10!!!! With a windchill of 6!! This is for people who think 40 is cold!

40 is cold if you're not used to it and I'm not. I don't like cold weather!

The last few years have been a bit chilly, with 2009 a particullary cold year. Now 2010 is starting off cold too. Another couple years of this and we'll all be panicking about another ice age like they were in the 60' and 70's.

By Friday, with the windchill, it's supposed to feel like -1 degree here in the heart of Dixie.

Y'all better be worried....if the heart of the south freezes, there's not much hope for the rest of you. :lmao:

I just looked at the Weather Channel map and it's only blue, pink, purple, and white. A friend in FL told me that classes are canceled at her school because the heating can't keep up.

i live in NE alabama, and my heat pump has been on ALL night. when i went to bed, it had been on about 40 minutes, and i got up to check it and make sure it wasn't malfunctioning, and it said 69 degrees, which is where we set it, so i thought it would go off in a minute. 5 minutes later, it was still on, so i got up again and checked it and it said 68 degrees! it just can't keep up! it was 23 degrees here at 10:15 pm last night. WAY too cold for this southern girl! c'mon spring!

I'm in East TN and am freezing inside the house too. I notice it less outside I guess because I'm moving around or hopping right into the car.
I'm a former Long Islander so I guess it's just what you get used to. I remember just a couple years ago standing in a snow drift waiting for my daughter's school bus, think I'd collapse now.

And my brother was complaining how cold it is in Northern/Mid Florida right now. So I guess it must be really cold there :lmao:
As of this moment, it's a balmy (:rotfl2:) 40 degrees, but wind chill is 35. AT NOON. IN FLORIDA. (I'm in Gainesville). The LOW tonight is 22 freaking degrees!

Why is it so cold all over the US this week?

Global warming, remember? :rotfl2:

Trust me, neither could WE! This is some sort of weird abberation. We'll be back to shorts weather in no time - bring your money and stimulate our economy down here. :thumbsup2

A friend in FL told me that classes are canceled at her school because the heating can't keep up.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Make it not be true! They've been home for weeks, it's time for them to back to school so we can have some peace! :hippie:

Of course it's cold. That's because I am coming there soon.
Yep, same logic applies to me when I am ready to go somewhere, but it's rain instead of cold (I hate driving in the rain).

Ugh, I have an old concrete block house that was built in the 50s and holds COLD really well. PLUS, the people who put the addition on the house before we bought it didn't know what insulation was, so there is no insulation!!!! I am in Bath & Body Works socks, fleece lounge pants (from WM), fleece sweatshirt, under a blanket WITH a space heater in my office and I'm still cold.... I'm ready for a WDW cruise! Maybe it's warm in the Bahamas...

Time for the old joke.

It was so cold today. I even saw a lawyer with his hands in his own pockets!

What happened to global warming?

SHHH, DISboard rules. We can't talk politics or religion, and global warming qualifies as both.
:)

I live in Alabama and I can tell you that it is cold here. It's 31 out right now & it's going down to 18 tonight. My heat is running non stop. It's going to be cold all week and we could even get snow in Thursday.

We have an outside cat and we have brought her in for all of this. It's to cold for her out there. She is not happy, but she is warm.
