I am finally ready to start posting. Photobucket and I are not on good terms, but I will do my best. I usually am quite witty if I do say so myself, but the meds the doctor put me on, have me blah

, so please excuse the blah report, they should get better as we go along!
Kona Cafe - 2/13/11 ADR time 7:35pm, arrived 7:05pm, not seated until at least 7:45pm. They were taking walk-ups. I think because many tables that were being seated late (with small children) were leaving.
Kona was hopping on this Sunday night. I was really surprised. I was even more surprised that people were leaving and getting tables at Ohana. I couldn't believe the number of people who had ADR's at both restaurants and were just going back and forth to see which one would seat them first. It's amazing what you do notice when you don't bring the kids with you. DH and I were not in any hurry, so the wait was okay.
So you have to start with the perfect picture....
Okay, DH took it, not so perfect...hehe! And this was our view from the table looking out...
So not everything can be perfect, but you know what, it was just wonderful to sit and enjoy the meal with no one looking in at us, so I will take it!!
The waitress we had was not happy that I wanted to order my meal slowly, we ordered our drinks and waited for them before ordering anything else. Note we are pretty boring when it comes to drinks, and cheap... So I had an un-sweet tea and DH had a coke.
This came out with the drinks:
I love this bread and the butter which is whipped with honey and macadamia nuts, we went through 2 loaves...
We started with the sticky wings for 2. I had to fight with DH because he really wanted pot stickers and our waitress wouldn't make an exception... But the "it's my birthday" card won out!!
Hmmmm they were tasty!!
The wings were wonderful, totally beat out Ohana wings. And the waitress provided hot towels, a really nice touch!
Our main course was also very good. DH had the Teriyaki-style New York Strip and I had the Pomegranate Barbecued Pork Chop. DH looked at me like I had two heads. See I am a creature of habit. I never change up my meal. I always have strip, but I promised myself a few new meals for my birthday. I am glad I made the change. The pork was moist, cooked perfect (I kind of freak

at pink, and no pink showed). DH's steak was cooked perfect, and he only had a little bit of tough in there. I find that happens to us often at Kona. Not enough to ruin the meal, but enough that DH gave it a 6, because he only could eat 6/10th. of the steak.
No meal is complete without dessert!!

I had the Banana-Chocolate Creme Brulee and DH had the White Chocolate Cheesecake. This is where DH totally went against his norm - he is a Chocoholic, and White Chocolate doesn't count in his book.
We shared bites and both desserts were wonderful. I really didn't like the actual banana on the dessert, but there was so much of the brulee it didn't really matter.
I have to give props to Kona, only one of three restaurants that recognized our celebration. They brought out really cute cupcakes for us, and then the waitress even boxed them up for me.
(sorry, had the hardest time getting a picture of them).
Overall we gave Kona an 8 out of 10. Yep, a few things were a bit shaky, but the meal was very good overall. This restaurant is always a keeper on my list. I am glad we can count on it each trip to at least be consistent.
Once again, sorry I am a bit boring here,

, it should get better, or at least I hope so.
