It is unanimous!

In a VERY rare occurance for a new attraction, show, etc. at WDW,it appears that "The Magic, The Memories, and You” is receiving UNANIMOUS rave reviews!:)

There haven't been such glowing reports like the ones on MMY in a long time.

With the recent "less than stellar" reviews on the "new" DHS parade and the "heaviness" felt by many over the closure of SWSA,this Home Run couldn't have come at a better time!

KUDOS to the MMY Team!:)

Wow... Unanimous? Really? I think it's awful, and I've read plenty of other Disers offering similar sentiments.

Don't get me wrong - the projections and effects are stunning. Then they ruin it by turning it into a massive digital photo frame full of people I don't know and don't care about, all more or less doing the same things. BOOOO-ring.

I am not a fan from watching the video but I will be there Friday and see it in person to make a judgment.

I think it evokes emotion, I've watched the video twice and teared up both times-but I'm mushy, lol.

I think that it shows all of the fun and magic that Disney is about. As a fan I "get it", I can relate to those happy smiling faces because of all the great times I've had there. Not all things are for all people though.

It has my vote and I can't wait to see it in June :thumbsup2

There will never be unanimous support for anything. Someone could find a cure for cancer and someone else would find fault in the production methodology, or the impact on the environment - or something... :upsidedow

I can't tell if the OP is being sarcastic or not? :confused3 But as far as projecting pictures onto the castle, I really don't care about that. :rolleyes1

Wow this got just theoppsit of what I expected!!. I thought we would all be gang busters over this(at least I was), but alot of nagtive feed back:confused3
Ok my 2 cents:rotfl2: I thought It was pretty cool and the whole color thing was nice. Anything to Inhance the night show can not be a bad thing, and if you do not want to see It,well there will be short lines to splash Mt. See we made everyone happy:goodvibes

It is permanent in the sense that it will be around for years.

It was launched with the current promotion, but they are already talking about what they are going to do different when the 2011 promotion is over.

The castle projection show is now a permanent part of the Entertainment at Magic Kingdom (like the daily fireworks), but the images, music, and show names may change throughout the years just like all of the other Entertainment offerings around property.

Heck, the celebration theme ended in the fall, yet they're still running both of the celebration parades (CDCT and MiSiCi).

But the thing that seems to draw negativity are the photos, and presumably that application of the technology is specific to the Memories theme. So while the projection aspect is here to stay, eventually it will probably be used in a different fashion.

That's a big part of why I like to so much - I too could live without the strangers' pictures aspect but the technology itself is brilliant, the photos are a much smaller part of the overall show than I'd imagined, and I can't wait to see what they do with this technique next!

the ones who hate it probably wouldn't if their pics were up ;)

Sorry, I don't agree with this statement.

The concept of this new promotion was discussed on these boards at length before the actual projections started. It seems people were strongly for or against it then and now.

Personally, we would NOT want our photos on the castle at all. There are others who feel the same. It seems some folks are very open to the idea and would love to be included while others are very private.

I think there are very few who are saying that they don't like it but are "secretly jealous" and want their photos up there.

I'm not interested in my family or anyone else's family photos on the castle. (I also can't stand people who rope you into viewing their home movies or slide shows for hours like you are going to be as interested in them as they are.)

Some of us simply prefer disney characters, movies, etc. and professional actors depicting the disney magic rather than the family next door.

I watched the video and I LOVE the whole thing. As someone said earlier, it makes me feel like we're all connected at WDW. I can't really explain it.

I was against it before I saw it. Now, I will watch it. The projections look really neat but I don't care for the pictures. I'm sure this is only the beginning of these kinds of shows. I don't think those gawky projectors all over the place are going anywhere anytime soon...I can't wait to see what the future holds.

I watched the video too and thought the animation (or whatever is going on up there) looked amazing. But after about 5 minutes I got a little bored. I hope it's more exciting in person.

I actually love it! The pictures AND the projections are beautiful...I think it's probably just me, but I find such joy in seeing the happiness in others, especially when it involves Disney World! The new TV promotions for MMY with the surprise videos make me cry.

I havent seen the show other than some on youtube. The people that make the comments they dont care about the pictures because its people they dont know, seems rather selfish to me. Those people are YOU. You never saw your child happy with seeing Mickey, you never felt joy riding on some ride?

I think, it has potential..lot more than when they first mentioned the idea.

They better not replace wishes with it, but at the same time, its nice they are adding some new things to the park

I've read several reviews -- all positive. The only negative opinions I've read were here in this thread.

We're looking forward to seeing it during our July visit.

After seeing this video on Friday I suggested to my daughter to go see the show on Saturday, as she was going to be in the park that day. Her vote was that the pictures of random strangers she could do without, but she loved everything in it, esp the part where the castle is burning and when they turn back time. She went with 2 other 20-something year-olds and they (guys) both loved it as well. FYI, the show preceeds Wishes, it does not replace it.

My son, who is a bit of a technology freak, wants to go just to see if he can figure out how they do it. I have agreed to take him if he can light my house out like that...

I'm not a fan..

personally, I don't really care to be seeing other people's photos when I'm on vaca with my family.

I agree. I don't even want to see my family projected on the castle. :confused3

Tough crowd here :rotfl:. Based on negative opinions on the DIS, I was expecting to hate it before I watched the video and was pleasantly surprised. I LOVED it! I watched it in the library and was embarrassed to cry over it :sad2:. I'm sure it will be even better in person. I"ll be seeing it in 3 weeks and will write about it.

As far as the pictures on the castle, that dosn't bother me at all. Its not like its a religious shrine that's being defiled :rotfl:. I enjoy watching families have a wonderful time at WDW and seeing those pictures of happy people just makes me feel good. Like watching a disney commercial.

I don't think it will ever be unanimous because people are different - and aren't we glad they are :goodvibes? But this fan loves it and I think this is one of the best things Disney has done for a long time.
