It is too late for kids touring around the park. On many podcast I’ve heard they have seen parents with little kids out at midnight. (Leap Year Show) Just a thought if the kid is from the pacific coast it might be only 9pm to them. Know body seem to figure this out they think all people adjust to local time. Why not keep the kid to the hours they know.

Well the little children I saw if they were on west coast time weren't handling it well at all. :( Small children should be home and in bed at 9 PM no matter what coast they are from.

wow - that's a blanket statement if I've ever heard one.

When my kids were babies and toddlers and we didn't have to get up for school, their bedtimes were 10-11pm and we'd get up about 10am for the day. That was their everyday schedule. It worked well for our lives. Once they started school, bedtimes moved to 7/8pm....and then we were the parents groaning about our neighbor's kids being allowed to stay up until 10pm every night playing outdoors.

When my kids were little and there was a late late EMH (Like 1 or 2 AM) we had a strategy. We hit rope drop that morning and ate lunch around 11 AM. By 1 PM we were back at the resort swimming. By 2 or 3 PM we were back in our room with the curtains closed, room dark and napping. We would wake around 7 PM. At that point we would put on fresh clothes and head to a relaxing TS Dinner. (Nothing busy like Ohana or Chef Mickey's....low key like Grand Floridian Cafe) We hit the MK at around 9 and headed to the back of the park getting as far from the HUB madness as possible. During this time we rode anything without a long wait IASW, POTC, HM etc. We grabbed FP to the biggies if they were available. This was our strategy until the mass exodus around 11PM. After Midnight the place really emptied out and we walked on most rides, some multiple times without getting off.

The next day was always a "resort day" with Dinner at DTD. My kids did great with this strategy.

As for the 24 hour thing, no my kids could not have done that. I did it solo on leap day, and I must tell you that I slept until 4PM on March 1st. Losing a whole day that I had planned.

You can find an exception to every rule.

This is exactly that situation.

If your kids are having a great time and enjoying the parks at 11:00pm, more power to you.

If your kids are screaming, crying or sound asleep in a sweaty stroller...chances are they should be in bed.

One thing I wanted to add was that my kids did much better after dark then they did under the unforgiving July sun. Thats why we swam and then napped during the hottest hours of the day, returning after the sun went down.

My eldest son would alway have a tantrum if he got overheated.

I'd also add if your child is asleep to the point of comatose against a wall in the gift shop take them home. I saw this alot in Epcot on New Year's eve. At that point they are not going to remember.

But I agree there you can always find an exception to every rule.

Uh, *I* would have a tantrum if I got overheated! :rotfl2: Actually, when I get overheated, it sometimes escalates to tossing my cookies, and that's not fun for anyone! I've actually had it happen to me twice at WDW, so I'm a little more vigilant to the signs. I have to be careful not to overdo it at buffets, since that can trigger it for me.

I like the idea of taking a nap midday on days where the parks are open until 2am. I can avoid the hottest part of the day and be well rested to stay up that late.
