In Ct. only one box of Claritin-D is allowed for purchase and it must be signed for, along with providing an ID. No problem. I have bought Claritin-D there before, and they do have my driver's license on file. The pharm. asst. puts my driver's license into the computer and asks me if I am Deborah (same last name) No, I am Dawn. She went through the birthdate, etc and this person provided the same driver's license as mine. I showed her another picture ID and suggested that it was an "inputting problem". The pharmacist looked it up in his records and didn't think it could be an inputting problem because it was the exact same number. So then I asked if someone saw her last name and hit a "merge file" button. They told me that wasn't possible, and that I should be concerned and go to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles tomorrow. They are closed on Monday's in Ct. I leave there and go to Big Y, wondering if its a "Walmart issue, a DMV issue or a law enforcement issue".
I left my car, grabbed a cart outside of the door and went in a picked up a few things. As I am checking out, removing stuff from my cart, I lift up the flier that was in the child seat and found two packages of deli ham. Obviously this ham made it outside of the store without being paid for. I lifted them up and said, "I didn't put these in here, seems like someone forgot about them or was trying to hide them". Just then the cops pull up. Two cruisers. Apparently the busted a guy just outside the door for shop lifting a few minutes before. Just about where I picked up the cart. I am not so sure that I actually found the "evidence" because they weren't big packages. Hardly worth risking a criminal charge. I paid for and put my groceries in the car, and saw one of the cops come out without the perp. The perk came out a few minutes later. I asked the cop if I could ask him a question regarding the license issue. He felt that it was also a Walmart issue and told me to go back and see the manager. I went back to the pharmacy and they are going to resolve it. Right now I am in their computer with an 01 after my license number. Nothing like turning a 45 minute trip into over an hour!

I don't understand what the issue is with your drivers license. How is your drivers license connected with someone elses name? Did you ask them to see if the prescription history is medication that you have filled there? DH and I have both had our identity stolen in the past, and I would make sure to find out exactly what happened.

As for the thief---glad he was caught!

I don't understand the issue either. I don't have perscriptions filled there. I just buy Claritin-D there, which requires a driver's license to buy. Apparently the woman has a prescription history there. All I can think of is that they pulled up my last name from a previous Claritin-D purchase, which is the same as hers, or they pulled up her name with my last Claritin-D purchase and put my license with it. The police officer assured me that it was a mistake a Walmart's end and not a DMV or law enforcement issue. The pharmacist says he will fix it. I pointed out to him that I provided two photo ids and that he should just delete my license number under her name, flag the file and reverify it when she comes in.
Glad the thief got caught too!

Where I used to buy my allergy meds, they used to write your id number on a pad and you had to sign for it. If they used to do that where you shop, a person could have easily swiped your id # and name to use as their own. They'd have to have an id faked with your name, but for people who want to use those drugs illegally (for meth), they'd put forth the effort to do it.

Luckily most systems of tracking this are no longer on paper where they can be easily swiped by crooks.

at least you didn't end up buying a wal-mart or some such thing.....

So because Wal Mart's clerk screwed up, you were supposed to think someone had stolen your identity? Then used it for buying Claritin D. :rotfl:

Do you see an allergist or doctor? My dh solved all the issues he used to have getting Claritin-D by having his allergist write up a prescription for him (30 pills a month for a year). Life is so much easier now. We have go to Costco to get it filled; even with a prescription Target wouldn't fill it. :confused3

Geez, leave it to Wal Mart to take something so simple and turn it into a nightmare!
I agree that some clerk most likely took the last name and seeing the same first initial, just assumed you were one and the same. Should be an easy fix.
Holy cow!

Actually, it's not as far fetched as it sounds. The home made meth business is so big around here that people will indeed steal your drivers license and use it for pseudoephedrine purchases. :sad2:

I'm still cracking up over you using "perp" in a sentence. :rotfl:

Hope you get everything all straightened out with your driver's license, Dawn!

Exactly. The chances may be slim, and it's probably just a mistake, but I wouldn't want anyone else's name affiliated with my drivers license at all---for ANY reason---you just never know what can happen. Better to be safe than sorry. And the OP did say that the other woman does fill prescriptions there--so are those other drug purchases linked to her drivers license?

OP: I think your idea to solve this is a good idea.

You might want to check with the state and make sure all is well-i had a rather similar experience-some one with the same name and birthday-but different social got her liscense suspended for driving with out insurance-only they didnt suspend hers-they suspended mine-i have always carried insurance and have had excatly one speeding ticket since i have been a liscensed driver. It took three acts of congress or so it seemed-to get it straightened out-its hard to go to the DMV when your liscense is suspended and your husband is in an unnamed foriegn country.
Also-i thought you were on tri-care-get a sricpt and get it from an MTF-no charge -you can get 90 days at a time-and you do it with mil id. My PCM writes me a scirpt just so i dont have to hassle with getting it OTC.

There is someone with your same name AND birthday?? That is WAY too coincidental!
There are a few women with my same name at my Doctor's-but also same birthday -that would be too weird.

So, what finally happened? How can two people have the same driver's license number?

I was at Walmart today and was going to buy some Sudafed at the pharmacy but thought about this thread and decided against it! I had too much to do to deal with a robbery, stolen id, and whatever might get thrown my way! :rotfl:

Any chance Walmart has accounts under a phone number? If so, has your phone number changed in the past?

Whenever I go to Sears, they always input my phone number to bring up my account. It has the people who had my number before I moved to Florida listed on the account. I've asked Sears to remove them, but they tell me they can't do it. It makes me nervous to have these people connected to my account because they are total deadbeats. I get calls from collection agencies on a regular basis about them.

If Walmart somehow stores information based on phone number, it would be possible that they have your information connected to the other woman. Just a thought.
