It’s Not Christmas Till We Visit The Mouse! Dec. 2006

I’m a breakfast person. Can’t start my day without it. Really, me without something nutritious in the morning is NOT a pretty sight. Oh me too I just have to have some Brekkie!

Guess what? We missed it.

Yep, we all slept until 8am and there wasn’t a chance of moving slow and slower (that would be Leo and Gramma) through the bathroom, into clothes, out the door, down the stairs and around the corner to Spoodles in 30 minutes. Oh no

Leo had his first Mickey waffles.
388268902_d197ac94a7.jpg

Leo just gets cuter, and whats with the little waffles? we always just got 1 big one!

Where was I? Battling my room-freshener-induced allergy attack. No way was I about to run in place while I was sneezing every 15 seconds. I was slumped against the nearest pole, sucking on cough drops and pulling out tissues. Poor you

but we did eventually get Leo all he needed to make a real Zippy Monster he could bring home.

OMG they're enormous, I thought they would be tiny!
Leo, however, became quite upset when Gramma and I sat down on a curb. “Get up!”, he said, “We dance! It’s DANCING lights!” Yes, he took my description literally and we were all expected to get off our hineys and get our groove on.

So we did!
316548005_58dddf09a5.jpg

So cute, kids remember everything don't they!
We danced, the lights danced, it was a super terrific way to end our (sniff) last (sniff) night. Oh no does this mean we're coming to the end!
Sorry I was lazy quoting. :rotfl2:

WoooHooo! an update and I am first! :cool1: :cool1: Ok, now I got to go read it. :rotfl2: :rotfl: See ya' in a bit!
Hey Allie, I'm sure that's not allowed you know you have to read before you post. :rotfl2: Anyway I would have beaten you but I was reading Dyson PM's. :lmao:

I love the LIME GREEN toenails on that towel elephant!

Awesome Stuff!!!!

Glad you are back... Now, I'm ready for the next installment :rotfl2: :hourglass

We were forced to do my almost-very-favorite vacation activity…. ROOM SERVICE!!! Call me crazy, but I just love paying way too much for luke-warm food to arrive on a little cart in my hotel room. Stop laughing, I’m serious. Don’t even get me started on the $60 club sandwich/Cosmopolitan combo on my last business trip.
Mmmm... room service. Hey, I love room service, too! Nothing is more relaxing than sporting your jammies and enjoying a lukewarm breakfast.
Awww...cute! Another carpet picnic for Leo!
I’d read about the Build-It-Yourself robots in UtahMama’s TR and knew, given Leo’s predisposition toward engineering and robotics, (me – I’m an Art History major. Have fun picturing me helping Leo with his math in a few years…), this would be a winner for sure.
Yay! I totally forgot about the robots! I'm taking Evan there. No doubt he'll love it too.
By running and jumping in place. In full public display. TFI.
Uhhh... that won't be a pretty sight of me!:lmao:

That was fun! I’m so glad we finally saw the MGM parade. We’ve really been missing out all these years.
We missed it last year, gonna try this year! :thumbsup2
I knew Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater were scheduled to make an appearance shortly, so we headed over to their destination and waited, along with about 300 other families.
Thank my lucky stars they have this at DCA, we don't have to fight the crowd for this one!
We got ourselves the obligatory hot cocoa, (mine helped along with just a splash of Chivas!), and stood in the center of the street to wait.
Adult cocoa.... yum-o! I mean really, is there any other way?:confused3
You go, girl! :dancer:
And, in case that wasn’t enough, look what was waiting for us upon our return to the hotel:
316547984_00cae3d3c4.jpg

Three for three, baby – a triumvirate of towel animals!
I didn't get a one on our last visit... darn Poly mousekeepers!
Coming soon: The End. And what happened before The End.
:scared1: Oh no... not the end!

WoooHooo! an update and I am first! :cool1: :cool1: Ok, now I got to go read it. :rotfl2: :rotfl: See ya' in a bit!
Shenanigans! Shenanigans!!
Great, another one!!! Have you been talking to Lauralee?
I guess I'm going to have to break out my DISboards rule book!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Hey Allie, I'm sure that's not allowed you know you have to read before you post. :rotfl2: Anyway I would have beaten you but I was reading Dyson PM's. :lmao:

Yeah, Allie! :rotfl2:

Shenanigans! Shenanigans!!
Great, another one!!! Have you been talking to Lauralee?
I guess I'm going to have to break out my DISboards rule book!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah, Allie! :rotfl2:

I thought my ears were ringing!!! My email notifications aren't working - AGAIN - so I had NO IDEA anything was going on today...I had to actually...GASP:eek:...WORK today!!! I thought maybe it was just a slow day on the boards!

Ok, ok, Allie...I've been told it's like Article 4 Subchapter 7, yada yada yada of the rule book that says you have READ FIRST, THEN POST!:lmao: Man, some people are soooo sensitive, eh???:rolleyes1

Day 6, Tuesday, Dec. 5
A little insight into my daily life…

I’m a breakfast person. Can’t start my day without it. Really, me without something nutritious in the morning is NOT a pretty sight.

I’m also not a morning person. Now, I’m not one of those morning grumps who just glowers and hisses in the direction of anyone daring to speak to them before 10am. I’m just not on my game until about 9am, so I use my 8am work start time to catch up on email, review my calendar, and see what Britney and KFed are up to. You know, simple things that don’t require much brain activity.

So you can see that a simple breakfast at home fits the bill nicely. Trying to get to a restaurant, let alone navigating a long menu, just isn’t something I do well early in the morning. But.

This is what I LOVE about vacations: I don’t always have to get up early, even at WDW! And if I can sleep a little more, I can go have a yummy restaurant breakfast later in the morning. And that, dear reader, is one of my favorite things to do on vacation.

And so it was that we had an 8:30am ADR for Spoodles the morning after our premiere MVMCP. Man oh man was I looking forward to that frittata.

Guess what? We missed it.

Yep, we all slept until 8am and there wasn’t a chance of moving slow and slower (that would be Leo and Gramma) through the bathroom, into clothes, out the door, down the stairs and around the corner to Spoodles in 30 minutes.

Anyway, order room service we did. Gramma had some eggs with various meat and grain side dishes, I had a lovely western(ish) omelet and Leo had his first Mickey waffles.
388268902_d197ac94a7.jpg

Since we only had 2 chairs, Leo copped a squat on the floor in front of the TV and had a little picnic, reminiscent of our room service meal at the CR last Sept. Let me tell you, luke-warm temps aside, it was gooo-oood! We all felt completely fortified and energized, yet relaxed at the same time.

The plan for the day called for some relaxing and exploring the hotel, followed by an afternoon/evening at MGM. But we were feeling so good, (and we’d frankly had enough of the BWI to last a few lifetimes), we decided to start out earlier and walked over to EP for a bit.

I’d read about the Build-It-Yourself robots in UtahMama’s TR and knew, given Leo’s predisposition toward engineering and robotics, (me – I’m an Art History major. Have fun picturing me helping Leo with his math in a few years…), this would be a winner for sure.

So we made our way past the UK and Canada, and made a bee-line for Innoventions. I located the Plastics area quickly, aided by the LINE of people waiting to build their own robots. No turning back now; I’d already promised Leo a robot and he’d gladly wait for the honor.

Seriously, that was the longest wait we had the entire trip. And I wish I could say it was worth it. Not so much. BUT, lest this dissuade any readers from trying it for themselves, it’s really much better for older kids and adults. See, the deal is you learn a little about plastics, (yawn), then go “build” a cyber-robot, utilizing your newfound plastics expertise. Once all 16 participants have their cyber-robots built and named, you race your creations over a cyber-obstacle course. By running and jumping in place. In full public display. TFI.

We were losing Leo on the plastics infomercial. He had a hard time making decisions when it came to building his cyber-robot. He refused to run and jump on his own, and wound up being carried while Gramma did all the work. Here’s his creation:
316548165_0dc2801be9.jpg

Where was I? Battling my room-freshener-induced allergy attack. No way was I about to run in place while I was sneezing every 15 seconds. I was slumped against the nearest pole, sucking on cough drops and pulling out tissues.

In the end, Leo’s creation, Zippy Monster, came in last place.
He didn’t care. He just wanted to build the dang robot already.

Our group moseyed on over to the building center. At last! With so many people pushing and prodding to get their parts, it wasn’t easy, but we did eventually get Leo all he needed to make a real Zippy Monster he could bring home.
316548156_2190175e49.jpg
316548153_0675c0ce94.jpg

Zippy in hand, we headed back out for yet another spin on Spaceship Earth, then back to the boat to MGM. The looooong boat ride. Not to China. To MGM.

We arrived just in time for the afternoon parade, another first for us. After securing a spot along the parade route, Gramma got us all some soft pretzels and milkshakes to enjoy as we waited. Breakfast had been so big, and so late, we just skipped lunch altogether and went with a snack.

As if on cue, the parade started up just as I ate my last bite of pretzel and we were on! Leo wasn’t scared at all this time, though he shrank back into his stroller when the villains came by.

He was very happy to see his pal, (not Pal), Mickey again…
316548139_4a9d704d2f.jpg

And we all said “Howdy!” to Woody…
316548127_127c4e128e.jpg

Leo’s a big Mary Poppins fan, so this made him happy…
316548117_309fccba67.jpg

But this was his favorite…
316548091_55b29f50bc.jpg
316548083_752c222dfe.jpg

That was fun! I’m so glad we finally saw the MGM parade. We’ve really been missing out all these years.

I knew Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater were scheduled to make an appearance shortly, so we headed over to their destination and waited, along with about 300 other families.

If you haven’t seen this yet, please allow me to illuminate for you. There’s no line. There are no ropes, chains, or straps to create a line. There are no CM’s hanging around to handle crowd control. Like the old WDW days, this is a first-come, first-serve, take your pics while you can and know other people will be in there with you kind of gig.

And Leo was NOT digging it.

We waited with everyone else, but when those vehicles rounded the corner and came to a complete stop, and the crowds descended upon Lightning and Mater, Leo quietly asked to leave the area. So we did. Still, he was happy to have seen them.

316548070_f4a0d0d9d4.jpg

After that, we rode Star Tours and visited the Muppets…
316548057_21349b0956.jpg
316548042_d046b8e63a.jpg

…before getting a bite to eat at Backlot Express. There, Leo finally found the elusive chicken nuggets, previously available at most WDW counter service eateries, but recently eliminated from the new children’s menus. My boy was in deep-fried heaven, I tell you.

Pretty soon, it was time to take a trip to the Big City and catch the Osborne Lights. I’ve been seeing the lights every year since they arrived in WDW, and it never, ever gets old. But. There was a time when the lights decorated every surface of the city and the suburbs behind it. Lawnmowers, bicycles, cars, swingsets, lawns, BBQ grills – all were covered in lights. And you could walk through the city and all around the residential streets, experiencing the lights at your own pace.

As anyone who’s seen the Osborne lights in recent years will know, the residential street is history. We’re now sequestered within the city street scenes and, while it’s still cool as all get out, it wasn’t quite as much fun last year.

But this year, we were offered the promise of DANCING lights! I kept referring to the “Dancing Lights” throughout the day. Keep that in mind, okay?

We got ourselves the obligatory hot cocoa, (mine helped along with just a splash of Chivas!), and stood in the center of the street to wait. In no time at all, the “snow” was flying, the music was blaring and the lights…. Oh, the lights were indeed dancing! It was fantabulous. We walked down the street and back up it again, then over to the San Fran side street to sit a spell and just enjoy it all.
316548018_9cf8679094.jpg

Leo, however, became quite upset when Gramma and I sat down on a curb. “Get up!”, he said, “We dance! It’s DANCING lights!” Yes, he took my description literally and we were all expected to get off our hineys and get our groove on.

We danced, the lights danced, it was a super terrific way to end our (sniff) last (sniff) night.

And, in case that wasn’t enough, look what was waiting for us upon our return to the hotel:

Thank you Mousekeeping, and Have a Magical Day!:wizard:

Coming soon: The End. And what happened before The End.

Ok, so I've just spent the last TWO, count em, TWO hours with Michael trying to write out Valentine's cards - ok, he was trying to write em, I was trying to resist the urge the snatch the pen outta his hand and write them all myself.:headache: He's the s l o w e s t writer in the whole wide world and we had 15 girls names to do, which we did FINALLY tonight and another 14 boys to do tomorrow, but imagine my horror :scared: in trying to get him to write names like Twanasja and JaDarrius in a teeny-tiny space...15 freaking times! :headache:

So now I've lost my valuable posting time as I have to get him in the tub, change the sheets on the bed, get him in his jammies, read the 3 nightly required books and get his butt into bed. Apparently, once your child starts kindergarten, any semblance of nighttime activities go straight down the crapper!

Anywhoooo....I was digging the carpet picnic...I too am a big lover of room service. Or even take-out-and-bring-it-back-to-the-room-and-pig-out-in-my-sweats-so-no-one-sees-just-how-much-Olive Garden-food-I-can-shove-down-my-gullet-with-no-one-seeing-service for dinner!:guilty:

And ooooh - robots...I haven't seen them yet, but had no idea they'd be that big...I'll be aiming that way this fall!

Glad to hear you got to see the MGM parade...it's Michael's fave and he becomes like a crazed fan, screaming out the characters names, but hey - it's get us attention and good photo ops!!

Loved the towel animals you got! They were awesome. We got NONE at Poly, yet at WL last year we got one each day:sad2: but they weren't as COOL looking and as big as yours! :thumbsup2 OMG - I believe I have towel envy!:guilty:

And how cute with the dancing lights!! What a doll Leo is!

Anyway girlfriend, gotta run....

I'll be back!!!:yay:

Hey Allie, I'm sure that's not allowed you know you have to read before you post. :rotfl2: Anyway I would have beaten you but I was reading Dyson PM's. :lmao:

That's ok. We'll let V decide who was first. ;) My trick worked. Side track you with the Dyson info, and I swoop down and be first. (J/K) :rotfl:

Those waffles are just his size!

I love Leo's robot! Dancing lights....Leo knew our peep rule...Keep moving!:yay:  :rotfl: Those lights are beautiful!

Those towel animals must have made up for some of the BWI trouble you had earlier. Sad to see your trippie come to an end. :sad1:

Oh no you're almost to the end :(
I can't wait to get to see the "Dancing Lights" on my trip later this year. And I'll think of you and Leo getting down :)

Let's hear it for overpriced, lukewarm room service! :cheer2: I'm a sucker for it too.

Sounds like a very relaxing day -- well, except for the robot part. Makes me glad we never found it. Leo, as usual, is adorable!

Sad that it's coming to an end. But that must mean there's another trip in the offing?

Of course you HAD to dance! The same thing happened to me with my nieces! Something about music & kids! It was fun though, wasn't it?!

WoooHooo! an update and I am first! :cool1: :cool1: Ok, now I got to go read it. :rotfl2: :rotfl: See ya' in a bit!
Sorry, I'm weighing in on this one - only a legitimate post may be counted as First. Please try again soon. ;) Please allow me to introduce this installment's winner...
Sorry I was lazy quoting. :rotfl2:
Hey Allie, I'm sure that's not allowed you know you have to read before you post. :rotfl2: Anyway I would have beaten you but I was reading Dyson PM's. :lmao:
It's all you Jo!! Congrats on being #1.
I love the LIME GREEN toenails on that towel elephant!
Oh my gosh, I totally missed that!
Adult cocoa.... yum-o! I mean really, is there any other way?:confused3
Somehow, I just knew I'd find another proponent of adult cocoa here! :rotfl:
Your son is so freaking adorable. :)
Love reading about your trip!!
Thanks so much Kim! :goodvibes

Excellent installment! My son also boogied to the dancing lights. :)
It was good dancin' music, wasn't it?!
I thought my ears were ringing!!! My email notifications aren't working - AGAIN - so I had NO IDEA anything was going on today...I had to actually...GASP:eek:...WORK today!!! I thought maybe it was just a slow day on the boards!
Excuses, excuses...

:lmao: At least your DS was interested in doing his own valentines. Leo huffed his way through 8, then announced "I done." and walked away, leaving me to complete the remaining 22.

And ooooh - robots...I haven't seen them yet, but had no idea they'd be that big...I'll be aiming that way this fall!
Yeah, I'd place money on your DS totally digging the robot thing! I was surprised at how big they were, too. Especially when I wound up carrying the thing half the time.

Those towel animals must have made up for some of the BWI trouble you had earlier. Sad to see your trippie come to an end. :sad1:
I don't want to sound ungrateful or anything, but I have to admit - the towel animals didn't really do it for me. Maybe it was all the ribbon and stickers. I guess I was expecting something a bit more like origami, or leftovers-in-foil-turned-swans. BUT, we saw our mousekeeper a few times during our stay and she couldn't have been more sweet, and our room was immaculate the whole time.:thumbsup2
Oh no you're almost to the end :(
I can't wait to get to see the "Dancing Lights" on my trip later this year. And I'll think of you and Leo getting down :)
Absolutely, you must boogie on down to the Dancing Lights!
Sad that it's coming to an end. But that must mean there's another trip in the offing?
Heh, heh, heh... you know me too well! More to come on that subject...
Of course you HAD to dance! The same thing happened to me with my nieces! Something about music & kids! It was fun though, wasn't it?!
It was sooo much fun! I tried to teach leo a few swing dance moves, but he was having none of that. We mostly twirled and hopped. :goodvibes

That is fine, I am happy for my fellow Peep to be first! :cool1:  Can't blame a girl for tryin' though. ;) :rotfl: I'll be on top of things next time. :thumbsup2

Hope you and Leo have a Happy Valentine's Day!!

V,
Your TR is too far off page one! I had to get it back up there.

Loved the installment, and super glad you didn't finish up while I was gone. And those robots?!?!? I just finally convinced my bites to let me toss the bunch we made two summers ago. They were fun to do, but we quickly realized what a nuisance they become...funny how the bites refused to carry them through the park and DH and I had to juggle 5 former soda bottles whose 12 parts refused to stay together longer than the exit.

And Leo and his waffles is just the cutest picture in the world!

Hey sharkB8:wave: Welcome back! How was your trip?

Thank you, thank you! Finsh?! yeah, right. I've had the flu-turned-pneumonia for a week so seriously nothing in my life is finished right now! :rotfl: I'm back to work (and DISing!), but am utterly devoid of creativity. I'm hoping it comes back soonish... I have a paper to write for school.

So glad you posted, too, 'cause your TR is gone from my subscription list AGAIN. I jsut don't get it :confused3 I'm following your link to see what I've missed!

Ohh I am loving your TR so far, I am not quite caught up yet but soon I hope. Your little guy is too cute!
