Surprise

All right, if anyone has read my past trip, Sept. 2008 TR, you’d know that I love everything about a good surprise. I love receiving them… and I love planning them. Well.. It’s been a bit of a tradition that I surprise dbf with something while in Disney… did I mention Dbf HATES surprises.. but he has come to appreciate them.

Now here’s the deal, the surprise itself happens in Disney but it certainly doesn’t have to be Disney related. Part of the reason why the surprises started was dbf is a ‘hater of all things Disney’ :scared1::snooty:.. I know..but I try my hardest to make our Disney trips full of new experiences and fun for him too… so for it’s working!! :)

Here are my current options and thoughts:

1. Aerosmith concert tickets
He’s mentioned that he’s interested in seeing Aerosmith and we have casually talked about it. He was hesitant because of the cost.

2. Switch our beloved POP to a Deluxe.
The only problem with doing this is that Dbf LOVES, LOVES POP… but I’d really like to stay in a deluxe! Maybe when we go back in May?

3. Specialty Cruise on The breathless 2 and watch Illuminations
I so want to do this, I think it would be extremely romantic but he says for the price we should just get another day’s admission and enjoy a whole evening in Epcot.

4. Private lesson at one of Disney’s Golf Course
He’s really starting to get into golf, especially with his work friends. I’m not sure if he’d want to actually do this, he can’t travel with his clubs and he’s a lefty ?? I don’t know. This one was on the top of my list.. but the more I think about it.. the more I’m not sure. He’ll have to cab it over.. and what will I do? And it would be on our very last morning in WDW…hmmm

5. Richard Petty Driving Experience.
We’ve also talked about this is in the past.. and he made some remark about how crappy it would be because all you do is go around in a circle:laughing: But… I think he’d truly like this experience.

If you read my trip, Sept. 2008 TR. He thought the Aqua Sea Tour (which I was dying to do) was going to be huge waste of time and money. HE LOVED IT.

6. Parasailing
This would be a little selfish, as it’s always something I’ve wanted to try. He’s an adrenaline junky.. so I know he would love it.. but it’s not necessary something for HIM only.

7. Wake boarding
All I can say is adrenaline junky.. but he could do this in Canada.. it’s nothing unique.

8. The Spa
Ohhhh.. it would be so nice to have a couples massage but again we can do that in a spa here in Ottawa… it’s nothing unique.

Any thoughts?

I would have to say that the privat golf lesson or the Aerosmith concert would be the way to go

Here's a hug for you and your grandma!

Oooh, love the luggage!

Whoa, such decisions! I like the Aerosmith concert or parasailing!

I vote for either the Aerosmith tickets (you could even figure out some cute way to tell him about them before you go on RNRC), or the parasailing, orrr the Richard Petty Driving Experience. No matter which you pick, they all sound really great & I'm sure he will love it :thumbsup2

I'm glad your Grandma's chemo is going well. I'll be thinking about her. I lost my Grandma to lung cancer two years ago, so I know how stressful it is on everyone.

I love your new luggage. I wanted to get a fun color when we got ours a few years ago but DH wouldn't hear a word of it!

I would go w/the cruise. So romantic!!

Thank you for the hug...

I really love my luggage too!! It's such a beautiful color.

Thats' two votes for the Aerosmith concert... I've wanted to do the parasailing at disney since our very first trip together in 2006.. hmm..

I am here along for the ride :goodvibes Love the idea of teh aerosmith tickets, DH would go crazy for a gift like that!

:wave2: Thanks, I'm so happy your here! Welcome!

That's 3 for Aerosmith... Dh is a fan?

hey.. i'm glad your still around. Thanks..I'm so sorry you lost your grandmother. She's the most important person to me.. My grams chemo is actually hit a turn for the worse. They live about roughly 4 hours away from us.. so i casually give them a call on friday night and turns out she's was in the hospital since thursday..:scared1::eek: NOBODY TOOK THE TIME TO CALL ME OR TELL ME....and she's in so much pain she's loosing it. (they ended up doping her up on a whole lot of pain meds and liquid only diet)

So we drove down early, early saturday morning and i spent all day saturday in the hospital with her. We sat on the bed together, i read her magazine, we looked through recipe books, we brought her homemade soup, we talked.... i talked.. she listened. It truly was a good day.. Then Sunday night i returned back to my grams house where i clean the kitchen and bathroom, did laundry and cooked dinner for my grandfather, water the flowers and did some gardening work.. it was a repeat of everything on Sunday. Except around 130pm, grams was released and sent home. She's doing better... she has a mild case of pancreatis (sorry about spelling:confused3 idk) possibly from the chemo or from having too much protein. hmmmm... I'm glad she's home.. and hopefully no more scares.

Dbf was sooo amazing during the whole weekend.. this surprise has to blown him out of the water..:lmao:

UPDATE: During the weekend.... I had another BIG IDEA for a surprise.. but until i get some more information from the third party.... i'll wait to post then. I"m really hoping this turns out.. He's gonna LOVE It!!!

I also like the idea of Aerosmith tickets. My DH is a HUGE fan and would probably pass out if I gave him tickets. :rotfl: I'm sure you'll make the right decision.

Oh sure! Just leave us hanging.....:rolleyes1

Oh, I know those scares all too well. We live 8 hours from my family so they would do the same thing and not call me until she was out of the hospital or been there for a few days. It used to make me so mad, but my Mom didn't want me to worry myself sick, but still, I wanted to know.

I'm glad she is at home. I know your Grandpa really appreciated all you did for him while she was in the hospital. :)

Can't wait to hear about the other option!!

I am here and just got current. Too much swimming in my head to reply on now. Sounds like a great trip - don't stress on the proposal, my husband actually showed me the ring box after he picked it up and then didn't propose for weeks. It drove me crazy but I actually ended up being surprised and loved the proposal. We're coming up on our 9 year anniversary

I"m glad your here... thank you for sharing your love story!!:cutie: I'm glad you were actually surprised and loved your proposal.. i hope I will be the same way.

I"ve actually been so busy with my grandmother, work, family coming up to visit, Canaday Day celebration, dieting and our mini trips.. that i haven't been thinking much of the actually proposal.. this blog is helping tho!!

I was def. thinking that would be really fun to do, involve the ride some how...no, not totally rambling.. I love the ideas...

Alright... so here's my other option...well not an option.. because it's a Green, light, GO!!

I wanted to get some professional photos taken of Dbf and I, we have NO good ones and i thought it would be an amazing experience to go through. I got to looking into some photographers in the Orlando area as well as Disney photographers... and I"ve absolutely have fallen in love with the Roots team. So, I've contacted Roots Photography, http://www.rootography.com/ and turns out they are available for my Date...:woohoo:

I guess all we'll have to do is hash out the details? The email stated that we could talk closer to the date.... and of course i'll have to find out a way to tell dbf. He's going to be sooo surprised. :woohoo::cloud9: I, also, want them to take a couple shots of us seperately.. that way he will have a couple he can give to his parents etc,. (who's been bugging him to get his grad photos taken for the past 3 years)

but because i've decided to surprise him with a photosession with roots... it doesn't mean that i'm scratching out all the other ideas.. Aerosmith is still on my mind... I may do both.. i'll have to see how my budget is going this summer...:goodvibes

That's such a fantastic idea! I adore the Roots' work, they are so talented. I bet you guys would end up with gorgeous pictures. Would you let him know before you guys left, or once you got down there?

Ohhhh that photograper looks amazing! As you know from my PTR, I LOVE pictures ;) If you get it done, I can't wait to hear all about it and see the pics!

Oh wow, the photo idea is great!! So you'd get the pictures taken soemwhere at WDW?

I love their work also... I'm so excited. Ahh... I'm guessing i'll have to tell him like a couple weeks before we go.. because knowning dbf he'll want to get his hair at a good lenght (not a fresh, too short hair cut) and he'll have to find an outfit.

I want to only tell him the night before.. but i think that may be cruel considering these photos will be around for a long time... and everyone will be seeing them.

When do you think i should tell him?

Yah.. they are really amazing.. I hope everything works out well. Roots often do DFTW including probably the most well known person for using the roots is Lurkyloo!! :cutie:

You do LOVE pictures...I"m really hoping everything works out great and that Dbf is happy.

Wow, I check out their website and they do good work. Great idea!

Thanks. I"m really excited..

Thanks.. I"m glad everything thinks its a good idea.. i'm def. excited to get some great, unique shots of the two of us. Well I'm hoping they will have some location ideas because as much as I love Disney, dbf does not.. and this is about him as much as it is about me. So.. I have no idea about a location idea...any suggestions?

YOUR LEAVING SOON:woohoo::dance3:

I think on the beach at the Poly would be beautiful! They could do some shots with the MK in the background and stuff and then some with just the water/sand in the background so it wouldn't have to be all Disney stuff.

I think telling him a bit in advance would be good so he can do any manscaping needed. Plus I'm sure you want to make sure he brought something other then park clothes. Are you going to dress up for the pictures or have them be a bit more casual?

I know you asked tinkgurl, but what about taking some pictures in Celebration? It would be a short cab ride from Disney and it is a seriously cute little area. All the pictures I have seen that the Roots have done there are just gorgeous.
