Issues requesting two villas close to one another?

Hopefully the long term experts can help with a question. We are looking for two villas for an upcoming reservation. We would like to use a 2-br and a separate studio villa. Has anyone been successful in asking for two villas to be closer to one another?

It's possible, but not guaranteed. So you might be close and you might not be close.

When you make the reservation, have MS note "traveling with" on both reservations.

And they can have a sense of humor on what close to each other is. For instance, if they can't get you in the same section of BWV on the same floor, they might put you on different floors, but only a staircase away (which would be closer than on opposite ends of the hall).

We have always made that our first request and for the most part have always had it granted. AKV / Jambo was the only one that put our two units in two different wings. When we stood on our balcony we could look across the pool and see their balcony. What makes it stand out in my mind is because the CM at the check in desk asked us right off if AKV was our home resort then told us that we could only get requests granted at our own home resort. :confused3 Never heard that before. Good luck.

We once stayed at SSR in a 1 bedroom. FIL stayed in a studio. He had the reservation linked, so we were in the same building. We stayed one more night than FIL but had to move to a studio. I remember checking if the room was ready since my DD was sick. They said they didn't have a room since we had to be in the paddock section since the reservations was linked. I told them that the other family checked out we just wanted a room.

I have asked twice, and it hasn't happened. The first time was at BLT for my wedding, we were in a 2br villa on the 2nd floor, my bridesmaids were in a studio on the 7th floor.

The second time was at SSR. We were in a 2br in Congress Park, my ILs were in the Grandstand. We asked if we could be at least in the same vicinity, but "it was not possible".

I just don't ask anymore. In fact, for our next trip all together in October, we are in a Grand Villa at AKV to ensure we are close to each other!

There are only a few value villas, and with those, I have had much success in getting them near each other.

I've put off booking next years Flower and Garden show reservation because I just can't decide to chance asking for 2 studios near each other at BWV, or go with the 2 bedroom. There are only going to be 3 of us.

We came back from Kidani about a month ago. We booked a 2 BR savanna view, and a studio standard view. We were close in that we were less than a "bead" away from each other...rooms xx34 and xx25...on the same floor. So it wasn't too bad. We had "traveling with" attached to our reservation. We tried getting closer to the lobby, but no luck. I was glad we weren't on opposite ends of the building, or on different floors!

As Deb said it is possible and as others have stated, they have not gotten the request.

Just because it happened for someone else will have no bearing on whether it will happen again for you.

There are so many variables to consider that it is impossible to know.

For one thing it depends on the resort, occupancy levels, what is open on the day you check in, etc etc.

All you can do is ask and hope for the best.

^^^^ agree with the above...it depends on what rooms open up on the day your checking in...if there are no villas close to each other open there is nothing the front desk Can do....back when weekend nights were double the number of points as weekdays we had luck getting villas side by side checking in on a Friday.....I'd just link the reservations and hope for the best

It is not just a notation, it is a special # MS has to generate to make it a "travel with" reservation". We have done this successfully 2 times now. Be sure both reservations references the travel with # and follow-up to ensure they do.

We haven't made our 2013 reservations yet for a 2-bedroom plus a grand villa, but I did ask member services about how that would work when we go to make the reservation--at OKW, proximity is definitely a concern. She assured me that because we had over eight people we would qualify as a grand gathering and they would make sure we were near each other. Here's hoping the nice lady is right.

I thought Grand Gatherings were a thing of the past.

The Grand Gathering events are a thing of the past. But they are using the booking aspect to generate the Travel With #s.

And they will do this for less than 8 people in your party. We had a one bedroom and a two bedroom with a total of only 7 people at OKW and we were able to use travel with.

I was asked if I wanted my 2 studios notated with "travel with" for next year's F&G BWV stay, and I said, Yes! We'll see what happens.:goodvibes

We requested ground floor, fairway view at OKW and got it. The family we traveled with requested upper floor and got it. We had the "traveling with" number and our rooms were above each other (1st and 3rd.)

So, it worked out great for us!

We recently had 3 rooms with a "travel with" and they don't make sense to me but I have been told to use them if you want rooms close to each other.

We checked in and our room was not ready so we waited. The rest of our party arrived a few hours latter and their rooms were ready, one on the third floor and one on the fifth.

We couldn't understand why we were not given the room that was ready and the Front Desk told me it was because we were with a "travel with" so they don't make changes to the assignments. I asked when our room would be ready, it was 4:00, they checked and said it would be awhile. They told me that there were other rooms ready now but we would have to break the "travel with". I told them to give us the ready room which was on the third floor, the 'travel ready" room would have been on the fourth floor.

What about 1 reservation on points and 1 on cash? We are staying in on our points and our family is staying on cash? Any thoughts on this?
