Issues at Boardwalk possibly due to Food & Wine going on?

We got home last Fri from a 2 week stay there, in addition to 3 nights start of trip at Dolphin(Wont stay there again, but thats a different story).
While at both resorts, there were at least 2 big conventions going on. The 1st one was rather tame, not so with the 2nd one. In fact, our last night at BW, a fight nearly broke out in the little, normally quite and subdued Belle Vue Lounge. I didn't see it all unfold, but my DW did. Convention fellows came in, one was way past runs, near the pass out stage. They tried to hone in on a wedding party txt wa going on, and before long it came near to blows. Lots of shouting and profanity between both parties. I walked in on the tail end of it, and it wasn't pretty.

I don't think F&W folks have as much to do with it as the convention folks this time. We have stayed at BW several times for F&W and never experienced the behavior as bad as this time
Wow, this stuff totally shouldn't be going on. They need to up their security or something.

Funny you mention Bell Vue. There was a big group that totally took over the patio that weekend too. They drove everyone else pretty much off it re-arranging all the chairs into one big group and glaring at everyone who "dared" to set foot on "their patio" They blocked the doors too and one poor lady had to push and shove her way out trying to get the chairs to move so she could rejoin her little group in the corner. (umm...fire code?)

We have also experienced this in a BW View room, I also don't think it has anything to do with F&W. However, we have also had this problem, after bar closing, in a standard view room, closer to the elevators. Those same drunks often stumble up the Boardwalk stairs, to cars, cabs, Uber's etc. And they are just as loud doing that.

We have stayed many times at BWV during Food & Wine and due to staying "standard," we haven't had issues during our sleep time. However, we have experienced the drunken guests around the boardwalk and on the walkway to Epcot. We also play the game, "Watch out for vomit!" on the way home and in the early morning hours to and from Epcot. Better safe than sorry. :crazy2:

We stayed at BWV only once, non boardwalk view, was pool view. No noise issues at all from Boardwalk during F&W. I am a light sleeper so Boardwalk View would not be an option for us. Loved the convenience of the BWV, yummy Boardwalk Bakery in the morning!:goodvibes

I've been trying to decide between boardwalk view and pool/garden view for our first BWV stay, and this thread has made me think pool/garden would be a much better idea for us. I'm a very light sleeper and I hate wearing earplugs.

We sat at the bar one night years ago with a CM who handles BW security - apparently weddings are a huge problem - year round. They had two bridal parties the week before get into a brawl - one set of groomsmen were hitting on the other bridal parties bridesmaids. But weddings make Disney a ton of money.

So not just Food and Wine - and not just recent - this was years ago. But its hit and miss - one stay it can be relatively quiet, the next someone at Big River is discussing their lovelife so loud that you open the door and yell down "honey, he just isn't that into you."

I just stayed at BWV in May/June and didn't notice any noise whatsoever.

Nothing will ever be done if you can' put it in writing to the Boardwalk GM and DVC mgmt. If they get enough complaints, they will do something about it. At least they will be aware and try to remedy this type of situation. If no one complains, it's not on Disney radar.

It was just this past weekend. I’m pretty much gathering from this that it’s a common occurrence now. Too bad.... I guess we will be trying for standard views more now, since it appears resort management must not care. Thanks for the insight! I guess we will count ourself lucky this was our first experience with it.

Just wondering how you can assume that resort management doesn't care. You chose not to inform them of the situation, how are they supposed to take steps to improve your experience when you didn't tell them?

OP,have you taken the time to write to guest services and the GM of BWV? If not, I suggest you do. They need to know how this is affecting people, and hopefully they will take some sort of action. So sorry this happened to you!

Also cc: DVC mgmt. I found I always get a response by adding as many VP's as possible. If nothing else, it forces the hotel GM to respond quickly.

I’ve stayed boardwalk view many times. The only time I had an issue was when I had a 1 bedroom above Big River on the second floor. It was in June and many people were out late. I heard one woman scream “people are trying to sleep up here”! I always request top floor and typically get 3, 4 or 5.

We did write to the GM as well as member services, and filled out the contact form through member services as well with a polite, yet detailed e-mail explaining how though we expect noise on the Boardwalk, this weekend was out of control. We’ve heard crickets back other than I got an e-mail back from member services that I had to use the online form only and not the e-mail (I responded saying we did, but heard nothing back)

I’d never dream of getting a boardwalk view for this exact reason.

I think the group of security guards and/or jellyrolls staff standing around talking at 2am ignoring the loud drunks was the giveaway, or the fact we weren’t the first to notice this (which is what I was trying to ascertain here. If it was a one off weekend or something we’d probably have sent a less detailed e-mail) Or the lack of a GM response to our e-mail.

We have stayed BWV and booked boardwalk view since 2008. We request high flood and usually get 4th or 5th floor. We have not had a problem with excess noise. There was some noise late at night on weekend nights. I think only once it was enough to disturb us with the door closed and the curtains drawn. Maybe we were lucky.

I had excellent luck with a response from the GM at the boardwalk after Our last trip. I misplaced my prescription sun glasses right before departure. I sent an email to the GM ( a letter with his direct email was in the room and I brought it home with me) the next morning, and I received a call from lost and found as well as a resort manager within 4 hours of sending the email. Received the sun glasses by UPS 2 days later.

Sorry to hear no one is taking the situation seriously. Maybe a follow up email addressed to Bob Iger, DVC president, or whoever is in charge of the WDW Resorts. Yes, I'm a pain if no one responds. I keep going up the corporate ladder. Squeaky wheel and all that. Hope you hear back soon from the resort GM.
