Isn't this against the DIS board rules?

I recently saw on these CB's where a person posted on a thread and someone who was a regular on the thread told this person to leave the thread because of what their tag said. The regular told this person to delete their own tag if they wanted to post on this thread. Later, the tag was changed and the person tried to go back onto the thread and apologize, but the regular, as well as the others on the thread, totally ignored this person!

How mean can you get? I also read someone else's post (on that thread) that said something like the owner of the thread makes the rules.

I saw this yesterday and I can't get it out of my mind. For Shame! What would Walt say? Let's please be a lot kinder. Sheesh!

Well now you have me curious. It's going to make me crazy wondering what thread it was on.

If it was a tag that the Tag Fairy bestowed, I can't imagine it being illegal on the DIS. The TF is very law abiding.

It is mean to just ignore someone who is trying to apologize, though.

I would think that would be a personal attack (don't know what the tag said, or the thread in question).

It isn't my place to demand that you change a tag, siggy, user name or whatever just b/c I don't like it.

However--not sure if they technically violated anything unless it could be viewed as a personal attack.

If it was a Tag Fairy tag--the poster should be banned for evening suggesting removing the tag. That is Disboard blasephmy. ;)

i dont know the exact thread your talking about, but i have seen one of the "older" members on this board being so mean to anyone and everyone. I ended up pm that person and asked them to stop being so rude and mean to me. :grouphug:

!

So is the person who starts the thread ,the "owner of the thread?" :confused3

Sorry for leaving you curious. I don't want to mention any names or the name of the thread, because I don't know how the person would feel about it. But maybe the person I am talking about (the nice one) will come on here and say more.

The Regular on the board said the tag offended them and that until that tag was removed this person would not be welcome on their thread.

I also saw that later on , the regular tried to go back and delete the mean post, but someone had already quoted them, so their mean post was still visible on someone else's post.

LOL! That is so funny. There is no owner. OP can make requests to a mod if stuff gets ugly (I had to do that once--but when it resorts to personal attacks..you do what you gotta do). But the board owns the thread.

Often times--people try to take ownership if they don't like what people are saying that are perfectly within guidelines (like when their opinion is polar to yours).

But nobody can really make any rules for their own threads.

I agree. It is like some people think they are the aristocrats of the boards. I just want to say to them...if you have that many posts to your name and you are on the boards that much...do you have a life?? Then I think I must be charitable which is SO out of character for me!! :rotfl: There is no reason anyone should be mean and rude on here. I have experienced it too but just do not care. This is not MY life it is only the way to pass time inbetween whatever! Do not let anyone upset you when they post.

Yes, the Tag was definitely a TF tag. It was in red, and I remember when this person got their tag recently, they were really happy. And after this person mentioned on a couple threads that one thread took issue with their tag, the tag fairy changed it.

Personally I think you showing the thread isn't a problem. It is a public board and free to anyone who wants to read it. If the thread embarrasses the poster, so be it. He/she did it to themselves and maybe this would help future nastiness.

I really don't like it when people think this.

I have an active life (don't consider myself mean or anything either--so I'm not saying your comment was directed at me).

Some people are lurkers and some are not. High post count does not convey an aptitutde for meanness.

I saw someone this week with a very LOW post count--and my goodness--the posts coming from their fingers--just not very nice.

Sorry for the confusion. I meant I'm not sure how the NICE person would feel about it. When I hear from them, I'll find out if it's okay to post the thread.

I'm with you. :teeth:

No one owns the thread or the tags except maybe the owners of the site.

Some people are just all too full of themselves and their own specialness.

If someone told me not to post on "their" thread anymore, I'd probably shoot my post count up to about 90 million on "their" thread. But I can be cranky that way. ;)

Especially since I guess I am considered one of the "older" posters who has no life! ;)

I saw the poster, the tag, and the result... I am not part of that thread but the person you are talking about posts on threads that I also visit, and the poster was upset by this. They are much happier with the new tag, but its funny what the TF will post as a tag.

I know exactly what you are talking about. The tag was totally funny and not at all inappropriate. Some people on here are so mean--- like people who open a thread and bash it. Just don't open it or don't respond--- how hard is that? :confused3

For the most part, people on here are SO nice and So knowledgable about all things Disney, but there are those meany-weenies who (try to) ruin the fun!

I'm curious, too. All I know is that it had "assassin" in it. I tried searching, but didn't get anywhere with that.

As for posters telling other posters to get off "their" thread...that is ridiculous.
