Blimey well so much for our extra hour in bed the wind blew our alarm loose so it thought it had been tampered with and off it went at 8.00 this morning - I bet the neighbours weren't too impressed either.

Very windy here in Essex:)

........ reporting in from East Herts! Yep! It's a gale out there - we have had fencing come down overnight and just watched a huge gust wrench more fencing down - and this was pretty sturdy fencing too.

I can't believe my son's football match is going ahead in this weather! The ball will probably find the goal net itself without any help!! Problem is it'll be the same net whichever way you play :teeth:

Reporting in from the heart of the country, the west midlands is wet and WINDY! We have hale at the moment, such a horrible day. Our fence has blown down too and its was only put up 2 years ago :( also my driveway is covered with berrys and branches from hedges and tree's. I sure hope that this was the worst of it.

Its an absolutely gorgeous afternoon up here. Clear blue skies, although cold. The boys have just been for a long ride on their ponies!

LOL Mo :teeth: ! Good to hear you are getting some good weather North of the border :) !

Bit of a blustery day down here in the south too!! :) We went to a Halloween party last night and Carys nearly took off with her witch's cape and broomstick!

Rather pointless brushing my hair this morning too!!

Have to agree with Mo, we have also had beautiful but cold weather today. Its raining now but it was lovely all day.

Yep - fine, but cold.

Just back from the Dunblane Hydro - celebrating my father-in-laws 65th birthday & retirement :bounce: - loads of wine, food and beer:)

Had a walk round the town and Cathedral on Saturday - sunshine & mild - no jacket required.

Today was less sunny and colder - but still fine.

There could have been a force9 on Saturday night - but I'd never have noticed it had it happened ........hic .... hic..... :bounce:

Did you hear the one about the inflatable tank?!!!

This is absolutely true!! Yesterday the wind blew away a Ginormous inflatable tank used by an army training division in Wales!!!! I listened to a report on the radio last night and this REALLY embarrassed Sergeant-Major said that this thing is enormous - needs 3 men to pick it up apparently and costs a fortune, and it had blown away and maybe landed in someone's garden! He was appealing for help in retrieving this thing! Can you imagine! Looking out of your window and thinking the army are doing manouevres on your back lawn :teeth: ......... DH & I cracked up when we heard the name of the Sergeant-Major.............. Sergeant Major Pratt :teeth: !!!!!!

Well I am back! LOL

We had dreadful weather, Gale force winds gusting upto 95 mph plus. Trees down everywhere, fences, hedges....everything. The roof blew off the Tesco's at Bury st Edmunds.

We were without electricity for 22 hours yesterday round until 8-30am this morning and it's been a bit iffy all day today.

We had no hot food yesterday as I am all electric so we warmed some soup on a camping gaz cooker that we have and managed to get some hot water for tea, but the rest of the day it was sandwiches. We had a roaring log fire and done some toast by it. Didnt think till this morning that I could have put some Jacket potatoes in foil in the embers! Doh!

We were quite lucky though - at least we had the fire, and some candles.

I wonder how Jules is - anyone heard, she is in Norfolk and futher north than us?

I really feel for you being cut off for so long! 22 HOURS :( !!Especially when it is cold and the nights are closing in. I hope you are spoiling yourselves with lovely hot food and hot drinks tonight and the heating turned up!

We are just reeling from the estimate for our fence repairs .... £800!! ( ... and it isn't covered by the insurance!) Thank goodness the whole lot didn't come down!

Eight hundred pounds for fence repairs! Yikes, Shirley! How much fence do you have?

Sounds as if you guys had a hurricane. Saw something on the news about a little boy dying trying to save his brother. Sad. :(

...... there are people STILL with no power! 65,000 homes still waiting! How awful for them :(
