Hi,

We will be touring Poly Tower with our guide shortly and I do plan on going over all my questions with her, but since I'm here....

When do Island Tower contracts expire? 2066 or 2075?
Can points purchased for Island Tower direct be used at other resorts or only at there?
Can Disney Rewards Chase Visa card be used with the 0% 6 month financing for a large part of purchase price?
Does the 11 month booking window apply to both the Polynesian Villas and the Island Tower? (I'm guessing yes, as are AKV for both Kidani or Jambo)
Is there anything I need to know before making this decision?

We are thinking of putting our AKV contracts up for sale in the near future to off set the cost of the purchase at Poly Towers.

TIA,

Dee

Poly will expire 2066

You can request to split payments over 90 days, once every 30 days. By doing this you can extend the 0% deal on your Visa card. Yes, 11 month applies to both Poly resorts. At 7 month direct points bought from Disney can be used at all DVC properties.

Just make sure, Poly is the place you want to be before selling one contract for another is my only advice. Consider a fixed week as well if you are not interested in trying other resorts. Good luck!

I just purchased Poly direct last week and they were only willing to do 60 days for payment. YMMV

Yes, it can be used for the entire purchase if you like. When I added on at VGF a couple of years ago I ran the entire purchase through my Disney Chase Visa to get the reward dollars. Since I was paying the entire amount immediately I didn’t pay attention to how the 6 month 0% worked.

Thanks. Got it. We were thinking of (if we buy) charging w the 6 months or 9 if it works, and getting it paid off before zero interest time limit is up. We just have to see it, really think about it, and mostly, consider how many years we will get out of it before getting too old to enjoy it and IF my kids would want to continue using it after we are gone.

Appreciate the info.

2066. It's all the same condo association.

DIrect points same rules as all DVC. 11 months at ANY Poly room, 7 months everywhere else in DVC.

If you have enough credit to charge it, why not.

Yes

Understand that points per night is very high at the Poly, so you will need more points there than at AKV to stay the same number of nights in the same rooms. Other than that I'm not sure what else you need to know.

As an owner at PVB, I would just caution you to be sure you are going to either be happy staying at the regular longhouse studios for awhile or willing to forfeit extra points for a theme park view (all rooms facing the lagoon are TPV) or preferred view at Island Tower, as there's not much inventory on the resort view side yet even at 11 months.

Suggestion if your just signing up for the disney Visa, you may want to consider the chase freedom unlimited instead.

It gives you $200 in sign up bonus points, no fee and 0% for 15 months as an intro offer. Better than the 0% on the disney card.

Remember that all the longhouses are studios so if you’re hoping to book larger rooms it might be competitive since all those original al Poly owners can also book tower rooms.

If you purchase there getting larger rooms should not be an issue if you book in 11 month window.

I bought a relatively small (110p) PVB resale with the intention to book tower villas, as studios won't work well for my family. If you are used to the '42-'57 resort point charts the difference at PIT is eye watering. I'm happy to stalk availability elsewhere at less than 7 months and will likely use these as my SAP+ stash.

Oof 110 is already a light amount of points for the longhouse studios, against 1/2BRs though at one of the most expensive resorts in WDW? Those points were never going to make it far.

It’s 1 of 5 contracts. My intention was 5 nights in a PIT 1 bedroom every 2 years. I already pivoted to Aulani this summer with the front loaded points

I appreciate the points made here. Especially the fact that the longhouses are all studios. A fact I was not aware of. We very rarely use studios (only the new resort studios at GF-we love those). Even when it’s just DH and I, or myself and a friend, we prefer 1bdrms. When we bring our DD and her young family, we use 2 bedrooms. That said, we will have to take a long hard look at the points charts again.

We own at AKV and BWV, but my SIL doesn’t really like to stay at AKV and they do a trip every 2 years. This was one reason why Poly Towers is appealing to us. We would be in our 90’s upon its expiration and our 80’s when AKV expires so part of our ownership (for the future) is about the kids.

For the last 25 years, DH and I have used the heck out of our ownership and hope to for another many years to come….but as age creeps up that won’t be the case forever.

Thanks again for all the great info. I am still excited to see the new Poly Tower…you never know.

Sorry to hijack this but do we know how many points the new tower added to the PVB association and I know it's still extremely early but how long are we expecting PVB to be on sale for?

According to www.dvcnews.com, there are 3,608,934 points in the Island Tower. As of December, 850K of those had been declared with 246K sold.

I'd expect PVB to be on sale for several years minimum at this pace.

Thank you so much! Idk why I couldn't find that info on there. I knew I had some time to purchase at bare minimum a year but wasn't sure how much more time beyond that.

We purchased a couple of weeks ago, and have 30 days to close with cash. He did offer up to 60 days too.

Polynesian contract is for the original and Tower, not just the new Tower :)
