Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

Like RIV, I am not a fan of the galley style kitchen. I think my favorite 2 Bedroom setup is what they have in an Aulani dedicated 2 Bedroom, BLT, or OKW/Vero. I also like the Kidani setup with the island.
I’d vote VGC with the moveable island in the kitchen.

On a lot of DVC kitchens the majority of counter space is covered with appliances and the cabinets are full with dishes and cookware….. Where do they think you are going to put all of the stuff that doesn’t go in the refrigerator and where is the meal prep space?

My first thought is that PVB longhouses might open up first when PVB existing owners get the jump on Tower rooms—but is it at least possible Disney could allow new PVB buyers a crack at the newly available longhouses before they start clearing a waitlist?

Poly owners can use their points elsewhere through end of Jan, so I think you might see some movement at the most popular WDW resorts if they decide to bring their points back home. Maybe more movement in 1 and 2 bedrooms elsewhere because they’re going to need to be point rich Poly owners to book most of the tower rooms.
I think we have a new acronym here “PRPO” Point Rich Poly Owners 🤣 as in “the PRPO took all the 2 Bedrooms over Christmas break” 😆😆😆

Now that the cabins are open, can we please get info on point charts, sale date and pricing? Pretty please?

My money is either on post August 12th (when Disney Visa deal expires) or post Sept 30th now, which would suck for me - was hoping to get on sale prior to mid Sept.

Maybe we get a week or so of Cabins PR and can move swiftly onto Poly? The Cabins aren’t magically going to start selling themselves.

I agree about the Chase Visa deal expiring.

My guide called me earlier (as I was drinking wine from my DVC wine glass). She said she was just checking in. I’m secretly hoping she was reconfirming her list in anticipation of some release of news.

I got a VM from my guide (Denise) today, too. I think it's primarily because I have an upcoming stay, though (SSR to PVB split stay in a few weeks!).

She knows I'm interested in the Poly, but they also have GREAT deals for AKV, SSR, and RIV... as for the tower there's "nothing new yet but I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything."

Imagine paying for a penthouse with views of… a golf course? When the other side of the hall sees Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella Castle?

I guess some people want the location and figure they’ll hardly be in the room awake, but the penthouse on that side is a weird booking category.

We hope to tour in October when we are there. Maybe a "small" add on LOL as DH is really interested in this one and we have one night at Poly before moving to AKV for four nights. This is the add on we've been waiting for since 1996!

I complained about our OKW view being a golf course and got an earful about how people love those views. It made me realize how golf is totally going through a "popular" phase. I had been sort of making fun of my younger cousins, there is a trend now to be into golf to prove you're wealthy I guess?

I think that’s been a trend for 150 years, based on all of the old country clubs that I see
LOL- I feel like I watched it die out for a while. My parents forced us into golf when I was a tween, even my rich stuffy/snobby friends thought it was not cool anymore. About 15 years ago I started seeing broke social media 20 year olds running around with their fancy knock off golf stuff, posing with putting greens. Then our school district started hosting a bunch of golf events and all the people who are constantly trying to prove themselves post endless streams.
It's funny, and I sort of feel bad for people who actually enjoy golf for the golf, as it's easy to lump them together until you see the score sheets. :rotfl2:

Popularity ebbs and flows over the years. It was definitely in decline before the C-word, but it made a big resurgence when people were looking for things to do outside and distanced.

But don't look at score sheets to determine who plays because they enjoy it, everyone pretty much stinks at golf 😂

Golf is a sport that people can play into their 80s and helps many remain active and social. It is also one of the only sports that can easily be played across generations. So, it’s about one’s mental, physical, and social health and not about trying to “prove your wealthy”.

Yes, there are people who enjoy golf.
As with many things, there is a crowd who are absolutely doing it to look upper class because it has that air to it. The "fake it till you make it" crowd.

Whatever floats their boat I guess, but there are WAY easier and less time consuming ways to flex if that's their thing 🤷‍♂️

But enough about golf. We REALLY need some Poly news. Throw us a bone Disney!

Wow, I opened a can of worms 😅

I don’t even mind playing golf (in theory, I’ve only played “real golf” once for a bachelor party). Just didn’t seem like an amazing bird’s eye view from that side of the building. I’d rather a nature view than groomed fairways and greens.

Monorail view on floors ~5-7 seems nice and interesting. Higher than that you’ll just be looking down on the tops of them. I’m thinking a sweet spot view wise though will be the rooms in the southeast wing looking towards the pool and the rest of Poly!
