Yes - Let the DINK buyers go to VGF !
I am holding out for BLT resale, as a SINK (Single Income Numerous Kids) :P
I am wondering, however, if after the PIT release if someone might move an existing reservation to the new towers that would open up something for me to switch to in January (at either PVB or BLT ) ???🤞
Family of 4 here that are very happy to be VGF owners.

What look to be inferior studios compared to longhouses with a lot more space and two bathrooms (well almost two, only 1 crapper).

I think in the end, longhouses will be in greater demand, but won’t know for sure until a few years out after opening. Being able to fit 5 in longhouse is also a big deal. 5 person families like ours wouldn’t be able to do a tower studio so it’d be 1br. Which is gonna be super expensive on points. Other option is longhouse which was great for us with the size and bathrooms. I really don’t see the 1br being a problem. 2br? I could see that being pretty hard to get for the high point owners.
I agree, family of 4 here and longhouse still work better for us with the extra sleeper as ours are already uncomfortable in the same bed and of course there’s the chance of getting connected studios.

If you are willing to shell out that many points why not spend a couple more to grab the 1 bedroom with the full kitchen and washer and dryer in the room?

You would have 4 showers over 2 and a better location with the longhouses but I would sacrifice that for my washer and dryer :)

Location and ability to lock the kids out are more beneficial than washer / dryer to me! My dear wife may disagree……

I jest with all this!

I know there has been a lot of concern with people “not buying” because of it being part of the current association and not wanting to compete with the current owners.

Do the majority of Poly owners have enough points to book the larger rooms? I would be very curious of how many points the average Poly owner has.

I own at GF, SS, POLY and when I bought points I loosely based how many points to buy off of what I needed for the room I wanted. Poly only had studios at the time, so I bought with that in mind.

So unfortunately while I much prefer a one bedroom, I don’t own nearly enough points for one 😭 (though that may change, if I can get my wife to promise not to kill me lol)

Also my family (especially my little guy) LOVES the GF. We enjoy staying at many resorts, but our yearly GF trip is always our favorite.

My original comments were based on the below feedback. I thought they were originally trying to help Poly owners with larger accommodations that are not bungalows. Obviously they are doing that to some degree but I just continue to scratch my head as to why they are adding so many new studios to a resort already dominated by them.
I honestly wonder if they originally intended for it to be a separate association, and changed direction late in the game once they concluded it would sell better as an extension of PVB (less confusing, get to market the bungalows, etc.)

If the plan was always to add villas to the studio-heavy PVB1 resort, I don't think this is the unit mix you would design. The resort as a whole would have been better-served if there were few or no dedicated studios, and more Duo Studios and 2BRs -- even 2BR Lockoffs -- instead.

The door to the main bedroom *does* lock, if I recall correctly.
Just sayin. 8-)

Uh, pretty sure you're on record as saying **checks notes**

"And remember folks, the Magic Kingdom is a family park, not a park for making families."

Okay, sure, your own hotel room isn't the same thing as the Magic Kingdom. Unless you're staying in the Cinderella Castle Suite. But still.

I think most people can swing it if they bank/borrow. Couldn't do that every trip but I'm guessing a lot of poly owners will be wanting to try out the tower for the first 2-3 years.

I'm in the camp of not wanting to buy direct and compete with all the existing owners. I hope I'm wrong and 11 month availability isn't an issue. Because then I'll be looking to buy some resale poly down the line since they will be good at the tower and not restricted, other than not being able to book RIV with those points. But I have RIV points for that 😎

I did try to figure out if I can swing it that way. If point chart is similar to GF I could do a week every three years.

For me I have other resort points, so I would be sacrificing 3 trips down to 2 the non Poly years. If I only owned Poly though I don’t think I would give up my annual trips for the nicer room.

This is torture though, cause I know If I stay in the new tower I’m probably going to love it. I have specifically avoided Riviera because I know if I love it there I would buy it and I promised my wife I was done after last years GF add on 😂

Great question. That said, I bet the data (and purchasing power today) points that most people figure on studios in general.

I just walked by construction after having breakfast at Ohana. There are barriers around walkways just outside Tonga now as a team is creating a wider path to transition from the tower to the longhouses. Also, Tonga is mostly club rooms for cash customers, right? I bet the people in the club rooms are overjoyed to have all the landscape torn up and active construction just outside their building.

I think that they will make a killing with add-ons.

If it were a separate association, I don't believe hardly any existing PVB owner would have bought points there.

This is probably true but I have to think @Cabius was on to something with them "shifting" to the same association.

I just couldn't rationalize them adding 97 dedicated studios. I can sort of see the 46 studios that are part of lock-offs but not the dedicated ones considering the amount that they already have.
