Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows

I definitely saved points for the poly tower opening. I’m currently booked in a 2 bedroom for 7 nights at the grand Floridian for the end of February. I plan on switching to the Polynesian 2 bedroom once it opens (I own pvb, so hoping for a few days/weeks home booking priority to make the switch easy). However, if for whatever reason it doesn’t work out, I’ll happily keep my stay at VGF.

Love owning DVC.
This is what I am contemplating for the 2nd week of Feb. Except I have 2 2BDs booked cash and am wondering how many points I would need for 2 PIT 2beds 🫣. I've got 350 2024 pts I'm waiting to be loaded once DVD adds the contracts and am planning on buying 150 direct. I have an accepted offer on another 160pts PVB and I'm debating if I am overbuying since I also have VGF points.

They’ve taken about 7 lightyears for the boardwalk corndog stand…

All this construction got me thinking about what % of a contract’s life is affected by ongoing construction. 25%? The uncertainty it causes - both in terms of scope and duration - is a serious issue too (again, go read how folks who booked at 11 months are getting moved from BWV due to the longest refurb ever).
I believe that the companies who build the boardwalk restaurant locations are NOT part of any Disney entity. They are independent contractors hired by the restaurants themselves. I know this is true for Cake Bake. It wouldn't surprise me to hear the same was true of the corn dog stand.

Thank you

It was a combo of boredom & impatience.

I find myself going to this thread constantly & searching the internet just to see if there’s any new info out yet…but no nothing. Then I just fall down a rabbit hole searching plus very boring weekend for me, lol.
I even find myself periodically reaching out to my DVC guide just in case he forgot me (even tho he is excellent and never would!!)

I think I'm buying a favorite week in December - not sure yet on room type, but will decide just as soon as DVD releases the point chart.
Back to back FWs? Cabins > Poly or reversed? Either way sounds fun!
I'm eyeing week 49 myself, depending on the costs, but I'm also debating Week 45 due to monorail access to Epcot for F&W and saving Week 49 for the dream that "River Country Lodge" aka Reflections might actually come back.

We've been slowly acquiring FWs - we just picked up Week 46 at RIV in June due to some great incentives offered on the DVC Member Charter Cruise to Lookout Cay; this time I blame DH because I was going to pass (because I was holding out for Poly) and he convinced me why we should do it. And now we have Thanksgiving covered even in years when it falls on week 46, and the very tail end of F&W if it runs as late going forward.

Now we have 4 FWS:
Week 44 - special Wine & Dine runDisney Fixed Week at CCV Studio (they no longer sell runDisney event FWs with the special perks)
Week 46 - RIV Std Studio (end F&W, Thanksgiving every now and again)
Week 47 - CCV Studio (Thanksgiving most years)
Week 48 - CCV Studio (start of Christmas season)

I would plan on PVB’s 2 bedrooms to be similar to VGF 2 bedrooms. Assuming that’s the case then you’ll likely need 825-950 points for two 2 bedrooms over 6 or 7 nights.

This is a pretty spectacular list...Week 45 would be SO tempting!!

I've been thinking about Week 1 at Poly (I have Week 52 @ CCV) and love the idea of back to back weeks around the holidays w/out having to deal with marathon booking madness...(this is all a dream b/c in reality I should be selling points, not buying!)

Thanks for this!

I was wondering so I could plan for a fixed week. There seems to plenty of regular deluxe studios but not that many duos. I'm sure those obviously will be popular not only because of the decreased quantity but the lower point buy in cost. 1BRs at PVB.. I imagine after the 10% increase for a 1BR it'll probably be at least a 300 point contract using VGF as a baseline which is probably more points than I want/need/can afford lol so probably have to go with duo or deluxe studios 🤔

That's what I am thinking too. But then I am also wondering if it's even worth trying to accumulate that. I could just borrow from my 25's into 24's. I am assuming they would only allow people with PVB points to book during the existing owners window even if it was within 7 months but is that accurate to how they have done it in the past.

Oh, I am jealous of the thought of those weeks! I had originally been tempted to get Week 52, as I love the post-Christmas season and the NYE Fireworks, but DH is so not a fan of going to Disney with those crowds. Since I'm a HELPER, I say you should get week 1 so you can back-to-back.

It will be many years before we'd use all of our FWs all at once. We started with FW 47 & 48 because we wanted to do Thanksgiving every other year in Disney as my SIL and family live in Florida, and I wanted to guarantee without worry we could get a room. :)
(Of course, that was before we stayed in a CCV Cabin, and now we try to get the Cabin for at least part of the week...). And I love Christmas, so I wanted Christmas week for the off year we aren't doing Thanksgiving... with the thought that once the kiddos are grown, we could do the two weeks back-to-back ourselves. Then we added on Week 44 because we enjoy F&W, and my husband likes to run, and so the special perks of the runDisney week seemed worth it, and some years it is early enough that we'd get Halloween and we love MNSSHP. I sometimes wonder if we shouldn't have done the Princess runDisney week, though, as we have come to like Festival of the Arts more than Food & Wine, however. And, as I said, DH convinced me to swap out some of our other contracts, pick up RIV points, and have more Direct points for things like Member Cruises. We were just going to get 2 75-point contracts, but then decided to get Week 46 to cover Thanksgiving in years it doesn't fall in Week 47 and to get the tale end of F&W... but also, the dream of 3 weeks straight in Disney someday. :) If we picked up Week 45, I could at least Dream of Spending 5 weeks in Disney, right??

Anyone have an idea of when we can books rooms with points at the Poly Tower? December is not that far away.

They have not even declared any of the units into the PVB association yet so that sales can start. Many of us are watching the comptroller's site daily to see when that happens, and that might give us an idea of when it will open up for points based booking.

Some of us now believe that sales wont' start until October 1st (when current incentives end) so not expecting bookings to start before that time. I am not even sure anymore we will see points based bookings for December.

For construction to now run through 2026, I can't see this being the Island Tower.

Might this be the rumored work at the Poly office/storage building? I forget the name of the building. It was a restaurant and arcade in the 80s. I recall some posted they may tear it down completely because of asbestos.
I walked past the back of that building the other day on the way to the TTC. The gates were open, and I could see that the whole back side was full of push carts of clean laundry. 🤷🏼‍♀️ they must store it there until mousekeeping needs it

No other resort has come close to the short initial booking window PVB received in 2015. Point booking began Feb 18 and the resort opened April 1.

If DVD repeats this approach with PVB2, point bookings will not start until November. Very late, but Disney seems less concerned with these issues at Poly than any other resort during my DVC years (2009).

These are definitely FW goals!!

3 weeks or 5 weeks - can't really go wrong with either!! :earsboy:

I'm also a runner - which is partly why I picked Week 44 @ Riv (Halloween + Food & Wine were nice bonuses too!).

Let's do it! And then we can get back to waiting on Poly news!!

That would be nice. We’re not runners, but DD is, thus our GV for the Marathon in January. I’d love to get her more interested in regular DVC visits for runDisney weekends.
