ah okay. I figured that was what it was called ive just always heard it called blue card. I do not qualify since i am buying resale
When you add your DVC membership to your wallet through MDE, it will give you an “affiliation”. Since you are a resale purchase and non-qualifying yours will say DVC-ND.

“Blue Card” members show DVC-Y

Congrats and welcome home, AKL is a great place to start. We were resale DVC members first before adding on at RIV direct. I actually made a few offers on AKL contracts to add on but none of them worked out so we ended up going direct for our second contract.

What would they be charging for though? Those don't look like they're big enough to be a lounge, and it makes even less sense to have multiple small lounges that you'll need to staff. I agree though, that it won't be open to anyone to access.
Again this is on the assumption that they are viewing areas connected to some sort of lounge I'm wondering what the capacity could possibly be. It would be jam packed every night I would think and I just have this feeling that it wouldn't be on a First Come First Served basis. Maybe it's Disney's recent business decisions that have me cynical but I just feel like this area wouldn't be a "come one come all" type situation. But then again would they both be a viewing lounge? Tell you the truth we're probably wrong about it being some sort of open lounge.

If poly was selling when we went (May) they may have gotten me direct but i am not a fan of riviera or cabins and those dues on the cabins are not okay. So i am hoping poly comes out with some decent incentives

Actually now that I went back to look at it the portal on the front of the hotel connects to the one in the back. Tell ya the truth it looks like an event space. And it would be a very beautiful and expensive event space. That's my final answer...lol

I think DVC-Y is a far more useful term than Blue Card personally. Blue card has meant a lot of different things at a lot of different times. If you have membership extras but can’t book the world collection with your points, are you blue card?

DVC-Y = eligible for Membership Extras. Simple, to the point.

First, I don’t want any details I heard to possibly go back to any CMs.

At this point, I consider them in the rumor category. Not worth anything unless Disney follows through on what WDI told them. Plans change all the time.
If only the internet had some sort of venue where people could share rumors…. what would we call it…. Some sort of fan forumn……

Even if they’re not directly connected, they could have some sort of evening dessert parties there that they charge a fortune for … set up a bar and some tables of snacks.

I agree I think DVC-Y makes the most sense as you can basically set up any DVC card color in your app, or not even have a DVC card logo associated with your MDE pass in Apple wallet but still have the DVC-Y affiliation.

We are staying 7 nights in December at WDW and own at Poly. Really disappointed we can’t stay at the tower on points for a portion of that trip. We want a 1 BR and cash prices just aren’t reasonable for the dates we are traveling.

We have a 1 BR at BRV booked for 3 nights followed by a VGF studio for 4 nights which is probably the best combo without the tower cash stay.

Additional photos of Island Tower.

Fun to see it from the Epcot monorail not long after leaving the TTC.
Also, some photos at night from the pier so you can see some rooms with the lights on.

One of the pictures is from almost the exact spot on the green area where the films are shown.

Additional comment. If you look down the Poly pier, the castle is directly over the middle of the island.

Great photos! I haven’t been over there in forever. I was going to swing by today and take a peek, but I got off the I-4 a couple exits too soon, and now I reek of butter beer and velocicoaster 😆

Maybe it’s a club level area, the poly sure could use another room category 👍🏻

I think from the pictures we have seen that there are also small areas connecting the different wings of the hotel, just small balcony type areas. If those drawings were correct you should be able to see the fireworks from them too. Disney wouldn’t be able to charge for those. Maybe they won’t for the portals either (which I have said from the start are just viewing/ambience areas.).

I have an issue with thinking these could be restricted to DVC-Y. At BLT you can’t get up to the area without showing your card. At Island Tower people could be right in the room next door but not able to access it. I am not sure that is a look that Disney would want. But what do I know?🙂

Is that one photo of a dude just chillin on the upper portal area after hours? Or is this place already haunted 🤣

They haven’t yet declared rooms or announced when point based bookings will begin.

You just can’t book the tower yet. Once sales start, I’d be surprised if they didn’t start bookings in December.

I just assumed it wouldn’t start until after December for points bookings but I guess they still have inventory that once declared can be booked with points for the opening.

I’m sure the morning it opens the DVC website will go down with all the traffic lol
