Island Hopping: A Highly Inappropriate TR. (Boom.)-- Link to NEW TR! 10/8

How did I just now find this TR? It's fantastic... I should be working but can't stop reading:).

Are you in the North Metro Atlanta area? I grew up in Roswell, but now in TN. My sisters and mom live in Roswell, Alpharetta, and Canton.

Just joining in :-)
:welcome: I'm so glad you are joining!

UGH your room at the Poly is gorgeous. And this is why I love deluxe resorts. I call myself a deluxe snob. I mean, I started being a deluxe snob at a very young age. Two to be exact on my first trip to WDW. I walked into one of the All Stars and I said "EWWW what is this place?!" Of course I dont remember that, but my mom does. Then we switched over to AKL and I said "Ooooooh I like it here!"

At two years old.

Anyways, welcome to the dark (and expensive) side! Not really dark but you get the point...
See? That will be my kids. And also it's me. As you'll read, I got pretty darn spoiled! The suites at AoA makes it okay to stay there, but really I can't wait to get to Contemporary!

Well, WELCOME!! We're in Canton, actually! You know, "it's a small world!":rotfl2:

Looking forward to seeing the Poly pics but there aren't any showing up? Anyone else having an issue seeing all the pictures?

Oh no, photobucket has hidden all of your (I'm sure) gorgeous pictures! I read the update but I'll have to come back and look at the pics once they are up again!

By the way, I have watched your family vacation video many times, but this is how much of a Disney-sap I am...go to 5 min 30 seconds and watch, the part where Brynn sees her face paint and kind of slowly starts to smile at her reflection...YUP, just made me cry! I mean..not sobbing, but I teared up! My vacation starts in 9 days and it cannot come soon enough!

SO SORRY about that! Apparently people actually started seeing my TR and PTR:lmao:, and I exceeded bandwidth! I did upgrade to Pro, so it should be fixed. See if you can go back and see the pictures now. And if not, try closing your browser or clearing your cookies.

I KNOW THIS PART! It gets me, too! It really makes me weepy as a Mommy because Brynn never really takes the time to look at herself...you know, REALLY look at herself...Julia prisses in front of the mirror all the time, but Brynn is just not like that. So when she took the time to look, and you can almost see it cross her mind that, "Hey, I'm BEAUTIFUL!" TOO MUCH. I tear up every single time.
I'm excited to hear about your vacation! Also, thanks for following me on Instagram! It's pretty new to me, but it's fun!

I love your trip report! I love seeing a family like us with quirks that just truly enjoys and embraces eachother. We went in November and are going back in February and I am getting so many ideas from your reports. I have been taking notes about what we want to do new from your tr.

Small World indeed. My BFF lives in Bridgemill and my sister lived in Bridgemill until last fall - she now lives in a subdivision right outside Bridgemill.

I know I'm reading way at the beginning, but I have to comment about your Chef Mickey experience. Same experience we had this past Feb. It's a trip tradition and I'm sure we will be back, but it is not my fav anymore. Food was still decent but all felt very rushed and we never got drink refills either.

We are definitely quirky, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm glad you're finding our adventures helpful!

That's five minutes from us, if that! Our elementary school is basically BridgeMill and our neighborhood!
So sad about Chef Mickey's. I don't think we'll be doing it again this year. I have it booked, but I'm pretty sure we'll cancel. Even the kids can't get excited about it after last year :(.

Just wanted to let you know you had another follower here! I don't think I have posted yet on anyone's TR, but I just couldn't resist the itch to quit being a lurker on yours! Just to let you know I have finished two of your TRs in one day. That is a record for me because I usually tire easily following one single person. I was extremely excited to realize that you were still working on this one and I would have the chance to interact! hahaha Your children are gorgeous! My daughter (4) and I had a great time watching your video. I had to hide my tears though, it was hard as she was sitting on my lap. You see she's a tender heart, she ever sees me cry for any reason, happy, sad, anything, she automatically starts crying. We are taking our first trip in October and I was freaking out till I read some of your reports. I see that you have plans and objectives but are still pretty go with the flow and still get what you want, that calms my nerves. :thumbsup2

I was wondering one thing, and answer or not totally understandable. Brynn (love the name btw.) and her dairy allergy, is it something she grew out of or can tolerate now? I just realized this cause like I said I read two of your reports and I know the other report I read you had to talk to the Chef's for almost every meal. Just curious to see if that was, for lack of a better term at the moment (hey it is 3 in the morning), "cured."

:offtopic: ( I don't get why the face is frowny because off topic doesn't mean bad) My brother in law was diagnosed with Asberger's when he was pretty young and his niche is technology, more specifically xbox 360. He can show you through anything on the computer and IPhones, anything. He is very sensitive to smells, and even still to this day (he will be 18 next week) has problems stating likes and dislikes so maybe we can try the thumbs game nonchalantly to see if that can help him. :thumbsup2

Though I just wanted to let you know I'm along of the ride (three paragraphs of rambling later. It must be the newbie nerves kicking in. :confused3:rotfl:)

:thanks:

I'm sorry that your service at Kona was less-than perfect, but otherwise, what a great start to your stay at Poly! Your room is gorgeous and it is always nice when you get your requests:goodvibes

Thanks! Looks good now. Going to start from the beginning!
AWESOME!!

You just made my day! I'm so happy you (and your sweet girl) are here and involved!!:dance3:
About the dairy allergy--she has mostly outgrown it now. She still can't tolerate yogurt at all, and she naturally stays away from a lot of dairy since she knows it messes with her tummy in large amounts. We were scared at first because they told us that if she was going to outgrow it, it would happen before her fourth birthday. Her fourth birthday came and went and she was still having issues. A few months later, lo and behold, we added in a little cheese and she didn't get sick. So we added cooked in milk, and she was fine. A bit later, we tried drinking regular milk, and she was okay with a few sips of that (she refuses to try more than that, and I understand--horrible memories, I'm sure). We have tried the yogurt several times, but she still gets sick from it...not sure why. I'm calling it cured, but just sensitive. We certainly don't have to look for cooked ingredients at restaurants anymore, and we don't worry about her consuming too much because she just won't. It's been a big relief, and keeping her away from yogurt is obviously easy. She was just a few months behind their four year deadline...but she marches to her own beat, so that should not surprise anyone:thumbsup2.
Brynn is a technology fiend, as well. She loves the iPad (LOTS of Aspies seem to...he school got a grant for ipads just for them!) and our computer. She enjoys that she can make things happen without talking to it. It's easy to communicate with technology--yes or no, I click this and you do what I say, etc. She's a great talker in general, but sometimes it's hard for her to find the right words. She also doesn't have to look a computer in the eye, and she can be in her own world and in charge there. It's very calming for her when she's hyper or lacks focus. She's one kid that I don't mind giving screen time to, because it seems to help her so much. My other kids are the opposite!
Anyway, I'm a big rambler as well, so you'll fit right in here! I'm so glad you're here!

Well, we DID enjoy the food and atmosphere a lot, so we didn't really mind too much about her island-time service. We were so happy with our room!!

Yay for the Poly!!! Your room location sounds great! And what a great idea to schedule a Kona breakfast for that morning! (Even if the service was a little slow)

Can't wait to hear more from you about your trip! I am feeling a little bummed because I decided can't afford WDW this year. However, that's mostly because I have several other vacations planned for this year. Much as I love Disney, sometimes I remember there are some other places in the world, too!
After reading about your Poly stay, I decided that when I return to WDW in 2014, I am going to do my first split stay, and start in POFQ and then...at least 4 nights at Poly! So excited, so thanks for planting the idea! Looks so gorgeous.

We just checked out about 2 hours ago. :-( reading your TR had us full of all sorts of new ideas this trip :-) (my dd loves the "no dancing" signs haha)

I have to say, until I read your tr, I had no idea how incredible that citrus tea was. Oh myyyy I have a new addiction. :-)

Sadly we are on the way home, both kids have already puked so hopefully they got it out of the way. Ugh.

Holy moly. I just read the rest of this entire TR. I think the last one I had read before I lost it was when Julia and Brynn did Pirate's League?! Loving it, loving it! Also, I watched the video and LOVE it!!! So much! I even sent it to my mom for her to enjoy! Also to introduce her to some people she will most probably see when we are there!!!
Anyway, I'm really enjoying your TR, I thoroughly enjoyed twirling through the world, and I can't wait for the rest of this one! I am definitely a fan of your writing style, and also how you don't sugar coat Disney, but still find the magic and pixie dust (sorry, I just got a little corny, but it's true)

Thanks for sharing your trip and your family!

I sent you a msg but it didn't appear to go thru. Sorry if this is a repeat to you. Just read the most wonderful book. 3500: An Autistic Boys 10 year Romance with Snow White. It is a free download on the Kindle and it is not to be missed. Since I work with autistic kids and love Disney it touched my heart. You must read it. Still loving your trip report!

Been lurking on this one too. I wanted to stay at contemporary in September as well but after a bad evening there in 2012 (just dinner, not staying there) my husband nixed it. So it seems we will be back to swan but I haven't booked it since the price nauseates me. Of course this is paying for upgraded view that then husband isn't willing to skip! Can't afford the Disney deluxes though have liked the two we've stayed in.

Also excited about taking our daughter before we have to pay for her! By the way she would follow your girls around and want to do everything they do even though she's just 2! She would totally adore them (can't blame her, they are adorable!!)
