Disboards??? Not to mention they were supposedly Disney experts. I called the Disney reservation line this week and I said something like, "I heard on the Disboards that POR is booked the week I want because of POP Warner." And the lady said, "Oh, I don't know what Disboard is." Huh? Oh okay. So the same day I called AAA and mentioned something about it again and the travel agent told me the same thing. How is that even possible? Do you think they were playing dumb? Are they not supposed to acknowledge that these boards exist? Just curious...I am wondering if I am missing something.

Of course, it's possible. This is a great site but certainly not known by everyone who has some kind of Disney association.

It is your mission grasshopper to spread the news and inform those without the grand knowledge of the disboards. :goodvibes

Yeah I'm surprised too. A quick Google search and you'll find it.

I haven't seen this site listed in the guidebooks, but have seen other sites listed.

But anytime I tell someone locally (NY) that we're going to Disney they always ask if I know about DIS.

Not only possible; but probable. There's not much in the way of good reasons why the average Disney employee would frequent these boards. We know some cm's do to ascertain guest's attitudes; but that a marketing tool. Also, some cm's do because of a specific interest. But with 55,000, or so employees at wdw, it would be a small percentage. The average phone reservationist wouldn't have any reason. Also, altho this is a active community, with about 165,000 members; that's about three days worth of visitors to the Magic Kingdom. Hardly a ripple in the total that visit the parks.

Hey Karmore where are you located?? I'm in the hudson valley too in Highland

I know in the past, some of the Disney's own reservationists at CRO are from out-sourced companies, who are just following a script and reading what they see on the computer screen. I had many on the phone who clearly knew very little about Disney World. :confused3 I casually mentioned the DISboards a couple of times on the phone, and the CMs never heard of it. They are just "internet sites" to them.

I think the previous poster is right on - there is no reason for them to bother or care. It's a job to them, not a fun vacation like for us! :teeth: And maybe it's pure hubris of us DISers to think most CMs have even heard of the DIsboards!

No one that I know that is considering a trip to Disney World would ever think to find a discussion group on the topic. The "normal" person would look at the official Disney World site and buy a guidebook or two. It's only when people really start to plan and get into planning that they look for other sources. Most people going to Disney World are casual guests.

Think of it this way. You are looking to buy your child a baseball card for Christmas. You know the player to buy, you look in the magazine at Wal Mart for the suggested price and then you go into the store to get it. Would you think to go out to the Beckett's message board and ask questions about getting the best deal? Would you know that there is a Beckett's message board that could help you?

I know tons of people who've been to Disney and NOT ONE of them knew about these boards. Of course as soon as I sent them the link they thanked me profusely!

Of course it's possible. If I worked at disney, why the heck would I troll the web for more disney information? :confused3 especially if I make phone reservation.

I work with a ton of folks who go to disney all the time, never visit this site and have a great time.

Many people I know that visit Disney on an annual basis have never heard of this forum. However, I do know that Disney upper mgmt. does monitor this and other Disney forums to see what guests are talking about, likes and dislikes.

Last time we were stopped in a park by a CM doing a survey , one of the questions was " Have you used DisBoards to gather information about your trip". That was the only time I have heard DisBoards mentioned off the boards themselves.

I am the only person I know that likes the disboards. I found out about this site actually from people on another site talking about how much they dislike this site.

the UG mentions disboards, but more highly recommends allears and other sites. Really, while there is plenty of great info about Disney to be had here, IMO its more for the real enthusiasts that cant get enough of all things Disney.

I didn't find this site until late 2004 and I had already been to WDW 20 times since 1999. So without disboards, I knew all the tricks (except renting DVC points - I learned that here, thank goodness!). I did visit a few other Disney forums so I wasn't without posting, but once I found this site it was all over with. I love it here! And frankly, I hope not everyone finds out about it. I like having this little "secret" in my pocket. But I'm selfish like that. ;)

Yeah! I was talking to a CM on the phone a while back and mentioned the Dis. She had no idea what I was talking about. So I said "gee, I thought all CM's knew about the Dis." She say's "what's a CM?" :sad2: Ahh, yeah. I called back and spoke with someone else.

I had been to Disney a ton of times and even on one Disney cruise before hearing about Dis. But on my last cruise I had so much more information and it went so much more smoothly and we had a whole group of "Friends". What a great experience in itself.

Our land concierge did say that some of them read the boards from time to time to see what is said about them.

I stumbled upon this board quite by accident while looking up resort reviews for our last trip (Feb 08). That was at least our 6th trip so it was quite awhile before I knew it existed... and thank goodness I did or else we wouldn't have enjoyed the DDP on that trip! :)

Why would they know about the Dis? I know we think the Dis is all that, but it's not required reading for working at Disney. Maybe it should be though.
I never mention a message board when talking with someone from CRO. I could just picture them rolling there eyes if I called in and said "well the people on the Dis said..."
