If we buy one DDE card (AP holder benefit) - is the name of the person who orders the card on the DDE ?

If DH orders the card - does his name go on it and then DW can not use the DDE card without DH being present ?

What identify's the DDE card to see if it belongs to you ?

We are NOT sharing the DDE card with anyone one else - we are not trying to rip Disney off.
I just want to know if I should buy 2 cards - $60 plus the $25 for spouse's card. Or can both DH & DW share the same card without the other present ?

Thanks :boat:

Yes the name is on the card. Is the raised lettering like on a credit card.

yes its printed like a cc. i selected my fh as the 2nd card holder. not sure how that works it the card holder isnt present, call disney & ask 407-566-5858.

It states on the back of the card that it is not transferable. If someone whose name is not on the card attempts to use it there is a possibility that it could be confiscated.

When did they start charging for a second card? You used to be able to get a second one for your spouse automatically.

January 1 and the cost is now $60 for the first card.

Starting Jan. 1, new AP holder price is $60, plus if you would like to order one for your spouse or DP, the fee is $25 additional. Go to the AP website and you'll see the new information. Print the application and you'll see the new information regarding the extra $25 for an additional card. My hubby and I both have our own cards (with our names on each), but will drop to one next year. Plus there is a new list of places that accept the card and several of our favorites are no longer on the list. We hope it's an error, but are waiting to see. There are no resort food courts listed anymore (All Stars/Pop/French Quarters). My adult daughter tried to use my card while we were both at the food court at Pop and they asked her for an ID, which she didn't have and I had to walk to the register and hand the card to the CM myself.

You must have had the same CM I did in Dec!!! I couldn't believe it when she asked me for an ID!!! When I told her I had never needed one before, on my previous 2 trips, she said..."Well, how do we know this is you? You could have just found this card." "Well, since I'm charging it to my room, isn't that an ID?" "No, because you could have found that card also!" Ahh, sure. So, of course I didn't have any other ID on me. I was grabbing breakfast for crying out loud. My license was back in my room!!! Only at Pop was I ever asked for an ID.
I"m curious as to how we will go about renewing our cards. I think that the cards will start expiring soon...probably the end of Feb or March? Anyone have a clue how we'll be able to renew them?

Back when DDE was limited to FL Residents, your FL ID or DL was always requested. In the literature that comes with the card it specifically states that ID is required to sue the card.

Is the extra $25 only for AP holders, or does it apply to FL Residents as well?

Anne

Our cards expire at the end of Feb also and just yesterday I received a renewal reminder in the mail.

I had already renewed on Dec 30 because I wanted the lower price and the additional card for free. I know I gave up a month (the new cards expire Jan 31), but since our two trips this year are June and Oct it didn't really matter.

We have been asked for ID plenty of time, and I am with Anne...ID should be requested all the time!

We've never been asked for ID using the DDE card. I even had my mom hand them my DDE card while I used the restroom. She used her resort card and my DDE card and the CM took it without question. I haven't seen the new info on DDE but does it apply to cards bought before Jan 1st or are we all to follow the new rules

The new rules will apply to renewals and new membership starting in 2006. You can download the application through the AP website.

I haven't had an ID asked for in quite some time, since they changed it to AP holders too. They used to ask all the time.

I've only given it to someone else once, for something for me at the Pop Century. My MIL was going to the food court, and I was getting a milk/orange and gave her the card to use. She used her room key, I think, for breakfast (we did the free dining plan), so they were like "who's Denise"? So after that, I went to the food court myself for my own stuff. :) I think that was the only time in 10 or so years on the DDE that I did that, and will be the last as well.

So if you want the card, know that you are the only one who can use it.

I don't see much difference in the list from last year to this year. I just went to the AP site and it still shows POP as a place you can use it, but I see POR isn't on the list (and it wasn't on my list the first time I printed out the list, but they accepted it

POR is on there! :earsboy:

Interesting, no counter service is listed for all-stars, pop or POFQ (what is listed for POP and POFQ are the lounges). That's pretty stinky. I hope it changes back (even though we have only used it at POFQ, we don't stay at the values).

And POR counter service has never been listed because of Boatwrights, but I know some people have had it accepted there.

We used the DDE card numerous times at the Pop food court last week (1/2-1/9) with no problem, although one cashier there did ask DH for ID (the first time this has ever happened to us after years of using the card).

I was going to say we used it at All Stars last week too (after the first of the year and up to about the 7th)

I'm sorry, I should have said, (which I meant) the food court isn't on the list (Riverside Mill), just the restaurant and the bar.
