Is your name Karen?

Another Karen Marie here........ when I was in high school in the late 60's there were 5 other Karen's in my graduating class of 90 students.

I've taught first grade for over thiry years and have had only one student named Karen.

Nope! I have a really good friend who is named Karen. My name is Katholyn.

My name is different...do you think it sounds "old"?

My name is Karen and , guess what, my middle name is Marie! I was born in 1955 but I know quite a few Karens of all ages. I like my name, after almost 50 years (Yikes!!) I guess it's kind of grown on me.

WOW! There sure are a lot of us :)

I like it much more now too. It was just hard when you're young and everyone wants to be alike and fit in and people could shorten their names and make nick names and I always felt different. I really like it now, though.
What nick names have some of you had from the name Karen? I know the one poster said they call her daughter Kari- Cute! I always get Kare Bear, and the funniest one of all...

When my mom writes me emails, the spell check always corrects my name to be kernel, so now she calls me kernel! hahaha.

Disney1fan2002: Thanks, that was cool. I wonder if anything ever has the history for before 1990.

Thanks, just about everyone calls her Kari now, except for her brother! He ALWAYS calls her Karen. Lol. My sister also calls her Kare Bear, which I think is cute, too.

Another Karen :)

I was born in '76, and growing up, there was another Karen in my class. I don't remember too many other Karens in my school though.

I've always liked my name because it was unique enough that you wouldn't necessarily know 10 other Karens, but it is common enough that people know how to pronounce it or spell it. :)

This is funny.. my middle name is Marie too.. Donna Marie

I always hated my name. Most people named Donna I have known were usually at least 20 years older than me. i was born in the 70s

My name is Donna Marie also!!:bounce:

Yep, I'm a Karen too. Born in 1953. There were 5 Karens in my fifth grade class of 30 kids!

I didn't have any nicknames back then but I do get called "Grammy" now. My oldest granddaughter "Kara" started that when she started to talk.

My beloved mother was named Karin Marie and she was born in 1936. My daughter's name is Karin Rose, she is now 7 years old...and (to one of the previous posts)...my MIL is named June! I call her June Bug and she is a doll!!!

Although I have been cursed with an unusual spelling, I am another whose name is pronounced Karen. The spelling is Caryn but the pronunciation is the same.

:wave2: Another Karen here, born in 1964. I went to high school with one other person named Karen (out of a graduating class of 350) and in a relatively small church, I attend with two other Karen's.

My MIL's name is June. :D

Another Karen checking in. Until this year I had only met one other.

This year my daughters softball team had 4 mom's all named Karen.
