Is your house to big, to small, or just right?

Too big for 2 humans and 2 felines, but when the family comes over it is just right.

Too small-- but we are lake front and the views make up for it!

Our house could be a little bigger, even if we just had a basement or an attic.

Our house is just right now that we added on another room to make it a 5 bedroom 2 bath house.

Just right, right now. I think we have about 1500 finished square feet for 2 adults. 2 bedrooms 1 3/4 bath.

Our new house will have 1900 finished square feet with an unfinished basement. 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. We hope to fill up the house with the pitter patter of little feet soon though.

Ours is about 2200 sqf and is about right for the 3 of us. I have told DH someday I would like to 'push' the back of the house out by about 10 feet and make the living room, breakfast area, and laundry room bigger downstairs and the master bed/bath bigger upstairs.

We love our neighborhood and our lot. We have a minimum one acre restriction and our lot ends at a creek in the back so we will never have neighbors back there.

After living in a house for 35 years I am now in an apartment. Lovely and spacious, 1250 sq ft, two bedrooms. Everyone assured us we were making the right decision. Simplify your life. You can just leave for a trip and just lock your door.

It took less than a year to realize it was a huge mistake. We have plenty of living space, but no storage space. We thought we would get rid of all our "things", but we just bought more.

Next month we are moving to a townhouse. Hopefully it will prove to be the happy medium. Otherwise I see another house purchase in our future.

Ours is fine for DH, me and the dog. No kids. We have 2 bedrooms....one for us and one that's a spare witht he computer and a bed in case someone needs to stay over., livingroom, diningroom. eat-in kitchen, small den, 2 full baths. It's a cape cod style, nice neighborhood, nice town.

We're very happy here.

Our house is just right for us.

Ours is way too small. DH, myself and DS12 & DS8. Two bedrooms, living room, tiny bathroom and kitchen. The attic is finished and that is where my "sanity room" is - aka my computer/TV room.

Ours is probably a little big for us now but we're hoping with 2 planned kids it will be perfect. We have 3 bedrooms and a huge bathroom upstairs and a good sized eat in kitchen, formal dining room, living room and my husband's office with another full bath down. It's about 1900 sq ft.

We just moved, and obviously we think this house is just the right size-1850 square feet for DH, me, and our 2 cats. Our previous house was much too big-that's the reason we moved! 3100 square feet-great when our kids were growing up, but with them gone these empty nesters wanted a smaller nest. And only a one story nest-these birds are getting "less young"!

Now that we finished out our bonus room, it brings our house up to 2966 square feet, just two of us, no kids or pets.

It is our first home, but we built it planning to sell within 5-6 years. We live near a good school, so I'm sure we can sell it to someone with a large family (it has 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath).

I don't think it is big enough. I wish I had more closet space and a bigger kitchen/hearthroom, because when we entertain, everyone gathers there. It is really not too bad to keep neat, we mostly live downstairs... Since we have been working so much, we hired a lady that cleans where DH works to come and "really clean" every two weeks.

I'm enjoying reading this post and checking to see where various posters live. It appears the southern folks like and have larger homes...just what you're used to, I guess! I think my house is too small...it's 1900 sq ft for the four of us. Three bedrooms, three baths, office, family room, kitchen, dining, and laundry. Really just wish for a play room and maybe larger bedrooms for the girls and THEN I'd be happy...right?

My house is a good size, though I wouldnt mind a bigger one. I have a big family room, but I wish I also had a seperate playroom.

Probably because there is more available land down here and it is also cheaper to build here. I guarantee my house cost about 2/3 less than what some of these 1200 square foot houses cost to build.

Case in point: my father in law is a home builder. He recently built the Shoals area "Parade of Homes" showcase home, the one they let people tour. It was almost 3900 square feet, every amenity imaginable, backed up to where they are building a new Robert Trent Jones golf course and it sold for $375,000.

He said the median size of the four houses he has going right now is about 2400 square feet. He is building one on the river in our hometown right now that has such a large great room he had to bring in a crane to hang the beams. I can't imagine!

We just moved and I love our new house! It's just right for right now, it'll be way too big when the kids are grown though. We do have one extra bedroom, but since we moved out of state we will need a guest room, it just needs a bed!
