Hi, is it worth paying the extra $75 per night for the waterview at the Yacht Club vs. the standard view???? I can't decide. I'm also not sure if you request to be near the elevator, does that change your options for certain waterviews???? Which waterview locations are better????

We paid extra for waterview last year, and I don't think I'd bother doing it again. At the Poly, yes. At the YC, nope.

I would say no, to spending the extra money for a waterview at the Yacht Club. As I understand it, "waterview" means different things at the different Disney hotels. At the Yacht Club, a waterview means that you will see water-swimming pool, lake, etc., but this might not be a frontal view. The view might mean-go out to the balcony and crane your neck at a 180 degree angle in order to see some semblance of water. I wouldn't say it's worth the money. Just what I've read.

Definately worth it. Request a room in the 306# hallway. It has a back elevetor and a GREAT view of the lagoon, Boardwalk and Illuminations...no rooftops.

We just got back today from WDW. We stayed 4 of the nights at the YC with a waterview. We originally were given a view of the quiet pool but we asked to be changed due to it being my birthday and she switched us to a wonderful view of the lake and Epcot. But I really like the garden views also. Next time I'll go with garden view and save the money.

Can I request a specific room??? What do you mean by the 306# hallway?? Do you mean a room in that area or specifically Room #306?? Thanks for you info - I appreciate it.

Hi!
We specifically requested Room 3063, which we had on a previous trip. The room wasn't anything special, but it had the great view of the Boardwalk, lagoon and Illuminations... and there is only one other room at that end of the hallway, plus it had a back elevator that went down to the laundry room and back exit right by the YC marina.
By 306# I meant rooms 3060,3063,3065, etc...(the odd numbers would be the water view side of the hallway.)
WDW honored the request, I don't know if it's standard practice but we were on the Grand Plan plus it was our 5th anniversary. We also Disney-ed on our Honeymoon and 3rd anniversary, so maybe they were just being nice...?

I really don't think so. Some of the water view rooms overlook the quiet pool and some have views obstructed by trees & some of the standard view rooms have a pretty good view of the lake. I will only pay for a water view if the price is very close. In Nov. 2001 the difference was only $20 with AP rates so we went with water, (and got a room overlooking the quiet pool, but they did move us when we asked). Otherwise, I would go with standard.

If you can get a waterview room w/balcony with a view of the lake and boardwalk then YES! YES! YES! It's definitely worth it. And YES you can request a specific room # (the one the previous poster listed sounds perfect) I have always requested specific room numbers and have always gotten them. It is so relaxing to sit on the balcony in the early morning and late evening and enjoy the view of the lake and boardwalk. This may sound crazy but that was the highlight of my WDW trip, and worth every penny. However, not all water-view rooms are views of the lake, so make sure to request "boardwalk view". And I don't think all water-view rooms come with balconies either, but I may be wrong.

This thread has great info. We have stayed at the YC twice before but both times we booked standard view rooms with an AP discount and were upgraded for free without asking to waterview rooms that had views of the lake/BW.

I recently booked a waterview room at the YC with the comeback rate of $207 a night plus tax for our upcoming Aug/Sept trip because they did not have any standard view rooms avaiable. I am hoping that when the AP rates come out that there will be some standard view rooms at the YC avaiable. If not I will stay with the waterview and use the info in this thread to request a good room and hope for the best.

Thanks again for the great information.

I totally agree with WDW2000. Definately one of the best parts of our trip is getting a great room. Sitting on the balcony having breakfast and watching the lake and the Boardwalk come to life or having dinner during Illuminations is just so great! I have a totally awesome picture of my two-year old DS sitting in a chair on the balcony just looking out over the water...makes me want to cry!
He's four now and a hell-raiser!!
I hope nobody gets our room Halloween week 2004!!

I would say yes!:D The view of the Boardwalk from the Yacht Club at night is just beautiful!!

Except that not all waterview rooms have this view, and there's no guarantee. At the YC waterview can mean a view of the quiet pool, and nothing more. That isnt' worth $75 a night to me.

We've stayed at the YC 3 different times and had water views 3 different times. Have I learned yet, NO. But we have NOT been back to YC since, prefer the BC side.

1st. trip: Upgraded to concerige, no non-smoking rooms for a guarranteed (asthma) non-smoking room water-view. Best view we ever had you are up high enough the resturant roofs really don't effect your view.

2nd. trip: 3rd floor over back entrance, terrible tree view, they would not change room, had to get down on all 4's to see any kind of view. people coming & going out doors, and sitting on rockers with cigars all night, absolutely terrible location.

3rd trip. 4th floor roof's view partial water / pool view. ok location nice room but roofs do take away from the lake view.

Overall really feel that a water view is not all that its cracked up to be at the yc. Unless your really lucky.

 MKY

Mer,

I would definitely say yes as long as you can get a water view room that is looking out over Crescent Lake. My DW and I stayed at YC on our honeymoon back in 98 and we had a wonderful water view room that looked out over Crescent Lake towards the Boardwalk. We were able to view Illuminations fireworks every night from our balcony.

If you can try to stick with rooms in either one of these three blocks:

2157-2163
3157-3163
4157-4163

Alot of the others are correct in stating that water views could mean views of the lake, pool, or canal that meanders between YC and the parking lot.

...sorry 4157 is a Presidential Suite, so it would be 4161-4163 on the 4th floor.

On the past three trips, we have stayed 8 nights, with our first night at FWCabins. Then we scoot over really early to YC (BWalk for Honeymoon one year...we were right over the "Bowls of Fun" sign!)) and get our room and our passes.
First trip to YC, we requested a different room and got it.
Second trip we decided better safe than sorry, so we requested the same room.
Debating staying Concierge next trip, but the number of rooms on the fifth floor YC seems limited according to the floor plan, so the chances of a really nice water view seem not-so-good.
Last trip we were on the 3rd floor, but we had access to Concierge because we were on the Grand Plan...now renamed the Platinum Plan or something like that??
Debating playing it safe and sticking to the 3rd floor with Concierge access, or gambling and paying for 5th floor. Seems like kind of waste...
