expensive? Is there other places to stay that offer the same stuff as this place? I tried getting prices from their website and the dates won't go past January. I was trying to price for the summer. It's such a beautiful place and I know my family would enjoy it a lot.

Well, it could be. It depends what activities you all take part in. You can rent boats at the marina, go horseback riding, do the kid's activities (tye dye, crafts, etc.) and it will cost you more because they cost extra. But if you just swim, mini-golf, hike, etc., it shouldn't be too bad.

We went two summers ago and found a good deal on vrbo, for four nights mid-week, I think for $399.00? That was on the time share side though, you can go to both sides and use the amenities. There is an internal shuttle to take you where you want to go. It's a beautiful resort. The resort restaurants were semi-expensive if I remember right, but there is a deli that wasn't too bad that had sandwiches, smoothies, etc. Of course, Branson is only minutes away and they have tons of restaurants. And if you stay on the time share side, you have a kitchen or kitchenette.

Thanks guys! I'm looking on tripadvisor for ideas and stuff. I know nothing about Branson! lol

We went to Big Cedar Lodge this summer during the 4th of July week. We were making plans at the last minute and were only able to get two nights there and had to stay on the strip for the other two nights.
We LOVED Big Cedar and would go back in a heartbeat. We paid about $200 a night and then got an upgrade to the nicer lodge. It wasn't cheap, but I felt like it was worth it.
The restaurants that we ate at on property were pricey but good.

The lazy river was cool and the pools were nice. It was really hot so we did play one very warm round of mini golf and briefly visited the playground.

We thought it was a really nice resort and once you were there the costs were not too bad. many activities were included.

we went last new years and we stayed in the condo's at village point -indiana point (very close to silver dollar city) and loved it. we have a two bedroom condo overlooking table rock lake and it was just great. Our 3 boys; 15,12,10 just loved it.

There are many less expensive places to stay in Branson... tons of condos, etc. if you're looking for that. I'm a frequent visitor and I'd guess that Big Cedar is probably the most expensive place in the area (and it's not in Branson, but quite a ways outside it). Depends on what you want from your vacation... Big Cedar is more of a resort with restaurants and activities on site. It may be worth the money if that's what you are wanting.

I guess what I am looking for is a cabin in the woods over looking a lake with a boat slip (that would be a bonus). We would need to rent a boat, some water skis, stuff like that. Kids will want to do horse back riding and do a couple of shows along with sdc. I'm getting a lot of great ideas off of trip advisor. But like I said before we've never been there and it will be our first time! It just looks like so much fun!

Look on VRBO! I am planning on Branson next year too. It started out with wanting to go to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and stay in a log cabin. There are SO many to choose from there. Then figured Branson has many of the same things with half the driving. I have been hunting on VRBO and while there are not as many cabins to choose from, I have found several that meet our specifications. There also are not as many "out in the woods" as there were in TN. If you want to be on a lake, look at the listings for the areas around Tablerock Lake, I think.

We are planning on 1-2 days at Silver Dollar City, Dogwood Canyon, Dixie Stampede, and maybe one other show. Will hit the Laura Ingalls Wilder home on the way there or back, and maybe Marceline, MO boyhood home of Walt Disney.

My parents have a timeshare in Branson, so we visit about 2-3 times per year. If you are wanting a "resort," I am guessing Big Cedar would be your choice. If you are wanting a boat slip, on the water, etc. there are several places you could look into. Table Rock, Kimberling City, Indian Point (which is right by SDC).

We leave in 4 weeks for our annual Christmas celebration in Branson. Silver Dollar City has 4 million Christmas lights and is beautifully decorated. We love visiting Branson!
