So this lady at work flipped out on me because I went up to her and said (I can’t remember exactly how I said it but something like this) “Hey, I just put the last stack of register cards out for use”. You know those green cards you use for register mail? This lady orders supplies for the office. I just wanted to give her a heads up that we were almost out. I was very nice. I thought I was helping her. She looked at me and said “My name is NOT hey! It’s C*@()*#! I expect you to call me that! She was so mad she went to her supervisor. We now have to have a meeting over it. To me it’s so stupid it’s funny! :lmao: Heck this is the same lady that called me Toots! :confused3

Wow she has issues:scared1: I work in retail I respond to Hey, Yo, Dude, and even You might know:lmao:

I thought Hey was like saying Hi
I would complain about being called toots - if anything is not right it is that

I would refer to her as "you" from now on. I cant stand rude people, just because you have a bad day dont take it out on everyone else. Hey, is used these days as a standard way of starting a conversation, or to get someones attention.

Down here in the South, "Hey!" means "Hi! Howdy! How are you?"

I found out recently that some people think 'What?' is rude. :lmao: Nothing surprises me anymore. :sad2:

Geezzz.... I hope "hey" isn't offensive. I use all the time at work. Especially with emails.

She went to the superviser and you now have a meeting over this? Holy cow! PLEASE let us know how this turns out. I'm very interested how she makes her case against you.

I agree when you go to the meeting and she starts about you saying hey, you should just get mad and say this is coming from a person who calls me Toots, what exactly do you mean by that:confused3

If "Hey" is out, then I think I'll start all my conversations with " 'Sup?" and end them with "Cool beans.".

Hey, if someone wants to complain, let's give them a legitimate reason to, right? Cool beans.

Thanks for the laughs! I wanted to ask, just in case I was the crazy one!

We were going to meet today but Her union prep wasn't there. BTW: her union prep is my friend. She told me not to make her laugh in the meeting! :lmao: What a waste of time & money. Here we are facing lay offs and 6 people have to go to a meeting because I said"Hey!

I did meet with her boss and my boss instead. I told her boss that if she is this mad about me calling her "hey" she needs a mental evaluation! ans she (the boss) should be talking with her! not ALL of us. I printed out the Definition of Hey & Toots and give it to her boss. :rotfl:

We have to meet next week.

What a day to quite smoking! :guilty:

I agree, "Hey" is a greeting just like "Hi", "Hello" or "Whatzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzuppppppppppppppppppppp!!"

I say hey to answer the phone, no one's gotten mad yet. At least, not that I know of.

Using "hey" isn't as wrong as having a hissy fit over it at work. Tell to STHU and next time throw the cards under her desk.:cutie:

I prefer to signal that I want someone's attention with a hearty "'Sup foo!"...just check my sig.

In your meeting, you should apologize "profusely" stating "I mistakenly thought we had a more informal relationship since you like to call me Toots."

It depends on how it's used I think. If I yell at someone I barely know 'HEY! BLAH BLAH BLAH OTHER RUDE THINGS" Then yes, it's offensive, but so is everything I said after it.

But if I say to my husband "Hey babe can you please blah blah blah." Not a problem.

What you did would not have caught my attention in the least.
