Is USairways going under

I wouldn't book for next May this early. Even if they survive, they will probably be cutting flights. The credit card dispute is only good for 60 days after purchase.

I though the credit card dispute was good for a year? I used my Disney visa to buy tickets about 8 months ago for my October travel. Should I worry about this?

I'm wondering the same thing. Dh bought our tickets in January for our Oct. trip. I'm corssing my fingers and toes I can still use them for our trip

I called Visa(disney's thru bank one). They said they will credit the amount I paid if the airline goes under. Even if the order was placed 10 months ago. They said that as long as I didn't use any part of the ticket I would receive a credit.

So I would check with your credit card company. The rules may vary.

Thinking ahead, do you think it is safe to book with US air for next May?

Safe or not we have tickets for next June! (Cash & FF miles) I have confidence in USAir still being around next year.

I bought tickets for my sister to fly at the end of December (returning January). I hope they're still flying by then.

Ugh, I fly out of Avoca in NE PA and I have my fingers crossed that we make our flight in December. Which we paid for in August.

I have enough miles for 3 tickets but there hasn't been any seats available anywhere around where I'd be traveling. They are pretty worthless.

First Vacation Express leaves the airport now this uncertainty. Glad I booked my trip next November using DCL. Then it will be there problem!:teeth:

I have round trip first class tickets to San Diego for late October on USAir. I used FF miles to pay for them. I am only a little bit worried I won't be able to use them.

We have taken wonderful trips using our USAir FF miles. We have flown first class to Calif. twice and NYC 3 times in the last 5 years. I have never had any trouble getting seats on the exact dates I wanted.

I just have a feeling it will all work out and people's tickets will be ok. I know that doesn't always happen in the airline industry, but I have my fingers crossed. USAir runs the majority of the flights in and out of Charlotte and it would hit us hard to lose them.

I'd hate loosing them too. They are big in Philly. I've always gotten great prices with them. They have beat Southwest's prices for our past 2 trips.

We are going to Florida in May. So far USaiir is the cheapest I could find for our dates.
Southwest dates are not that far out yet.
Any suggestions on what I should do. Do you think the airlines will lower prices the closer we get to my dates?

I would keep watching fares for awhile. May is still pretty far away unless you are going at a popular time.

I would think by Nov or Dec. you will have a good idea what is happening with US Airways.

I heard that there is a hearing coming up in early October. This is about USairway and monies that are due to be depositted in the pension fund. I'm not sure of all the details. I don't think the airline wants to pay into the fund. I don't know how this will reflect on if the airline can survive long term. I hope we don't end up with disgruntled employees.

Thanks Safetymom. I've booked flights for my Sister and her family for December using the FF miles.

I don't think it will close within 90 days. At least I hope not.
