Coming from an Italian home, I know what good Italian food is. My friend booked it one night when we are there so that we can have a good view of the night time parade. I'm not looking for a gourmet experience, but I at least want to come out satisfied. Will I be disappointed?

DH and I went to Tony's last year. I am also Italian, and this is my personal opinion: Do not go here looking for authentic Italian. We loved the ambiance (right on Main Street, Lady and the Tramp theme...it's adorable). I had to have my picture taken next to the bronze statue of Tramp and Lady. The food, however, is americanized italian food. It's like Olive Garden food with a lot less variety. We had the Spinach & Artichoke dish which was ok, DH had the Chicken Parm which was good, and I had the Shrimp Pasta which was good. They also served bread and butter with the meal. I would not call anything excellent, and I would not call anything bad. It was all edible and good, and we were full when we left. Come to think of it, I don't really think there is an authentic Italian place in Disneyworld. :( Maybe the restaurant that will replace Alfredo's will have authentic Italian...yum.

I really think you will have fun if you don't go expecting authentic Italian food. Go to eat on Main Street, enjoy the atmosphere and the company of your friend. You'll have a great time! :)

DH and I really enjoy Tony's, and we do not like Olive Garden or Carrabbas. You'll get a plethora of varying opinions not matter what restaurant you post, so if the menu looks good to you, give it a whirl!

Did your shrimp pasta have a lot of carrots in it? I read a review that said it was full of them. This looks like the best thing on the dinner menu, but the carrots don't seem to fit with the dish. Do you know, if I could order it w/o them? TIA for the info. :)

You can order anything without a certain something. :)

I don't remember an overabundance of carrots. Admittedly, I like carrots, so that my be why. In any case, you can definitely order the dish without carrots no problem. :)

Thanks to both of you for the info. :) I didn't know, if the carrots were cooked in the sauce or if they were added at the time of assembling the dish. If they were in the sauce, you'd probably be stuck with them. I'm glad to see that's not the case. :thumbsup2 That's definitely what I'll be ordering. :yay:

OP,
Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I repost your question here, so you can continue on with the thread like I was never here.

We ate at Alfredo's it was ok. We ate at Mama Melrose and it was so bland. We ate at Tutto Italia and it was outstanding. We are going to try Tonys in August...not expecting it to be like Tutto but if it is better than MM I will be happy

We were disappointed in Tony's as a queenofhartz mentioned.

I'm not Italian but my sister is married to a first generation Italian and I've eaten at her MIL lots of times and Tony's doesn't even begin to compared to it. I live in Jersey where you can find lots of Italian places so maybe that "clouded" our judgment.

The atmosphere is lots of fun! We will not be eating there in our upcoming trip.

We've eaten here twice and were disappointed both times. IMO it's not worth wasting money or DDP for a TS meal.
