Is this where use year becomes critical?

We are scheduled to leave next Sunday. If Ivan takes control of the situation, and we have to cancel (ugh, I don't even want to think about). From what I've read, in this situation for Charley & Francsis DVC has been great about restoring points without penalty. We have a December use year. So if ours got restored without penality would we have to use them before 11/30 because the banking deadline is past?

You're right. A cancelled trip this late in your use year could cause points to be lost. But Disney was very good with those who had to cancel this past weekend so maybe they will work with you so you don't lose the points.

As you can see from my countdown clock I am scheduled to leave next Sunday too. So far I am taking comfort in the reports that say that if Ivan DOES hit FL. it won't until early next week. I don't care if I am "STUCK" at WDW, I just don't want to have to cancel. I'd rather be at BWV watching the rain than home in the sun! I sure hope we don't have to deal with getting our points credited, I want my WDW!

Karen to answer your question -- if no special circumstances are allowed -- yes, you would have your points returned to be used by the end of the Use Year (11/30). They can't be banked and reservations have to be made 60 days or less in advance.

The Use Year part -- we are fast approaching the last 60 days of your Use Year. September 30 would be the last day that you could make a non-DVC reservation using those points. You could travel in October/November, but not make a reservation.

If you were not within 30 days of your reservation starting, you would still have until the end of the month to be able to bank up to 25% of your total number of points.
