Is this typical?

Am trying to add one person to a chef mickey's reservation on sept 22nd. So far nothing is showing (I am attempting to add a second reservation at the same time and ten either link the two or split the party if that makes sense). When I call nothing available. On a whim I checked for tonight and there is availability. I assume someone cancelled last minute. So should I not panic until I get to check in for my reservation? My backup plan is to let the rest of the party go in and eat elsewhere that night.

I've had to add a person at the last minute several times (when we travel with extended family, they are very flaky about their plans ahead of time). It's never been a problem, even did it at Chef Mickey's and other character meals before. I just told them at the host stand when we got there that we ended up with an extra person, and they updated the reservation without acting like it was a big deal at all. We were always a large party to begin with though - like going from 9 to 10, or 6 to 7. It wouldn't hurt to keep checking, but chances are good that they would accommodate you at check-in anyway. Thanks normally I wouldn't stress and just skip the meal if I have to but the addition is our latest foster daughter who will be meeting Mickey and the gang for the first time so I would love to see her face. If all else fails I can drag te crew through the line at mk that afternoon.
