I actually asked this question during one of our stays at POR and was told something very similar. I was actually amazed as to how much thought goes into safety planning at WDW. Still, having stayed in Magnolia Bend section, I can't see how this is a fire hazard as the entrance/exit to all rooms are from the outside.![]()
If the building is on fire, you need to get away from the building. Just being outside the room still doesn't provide you much safety. Now if you don't mind jumping over the side of the railing from the second floor..... What's a broken leg or two?
Getting to the ground level, from the upper level, without using the elevator, took a while. I can totally see how that would not be a good place to have more bodies in the rooms.
