I booked my room using the 40% pin code that came out. I called today because I wanted to add the DDP and tickets.

The Dis lady informed me that I could not use the dining plan with a discount room! Is this true????? Everyone who is using the dining plan is paying rack rate for a room??? I even asked, even if I book the room with AAA?

And she said yes, there is no double dipping and the dining plan is a discount.

I can't tell you how long I have agonized over these plans and which was right for us...:headache:

Hmmmm, I really don't know. I know you have to pay rack rate with free dining, but I thought you could still purchase the DP on a discounted room.

I just went through the FAQ and found something that says its not available with just any room reservation...and some AAA disocunts will work but now all...blah blah blah...How could I miss this??? I am sooooo not feeling the magic now:sad2:

Been this way all along. Disney doesn't allow you to stack discounts, so you have to pick the one that gives you the best deal. Sometimes its the 40% off, other times its the DP.

You'll probably make out better with the 40% off code. With all of the changes to the dining plan, it's not really a "deal" anymore. You are mostly paying in advance, which is, I agree, a huge convenience.

This is what I'm thinking for the next time we go to Disney, due to the lack of good kids' meals on top of the dining changes. I am going to take what I would normally spend on the dining plan and pre purchase gift cards form the Disney store. This way, my meals will be paid for in advance, AND I'll have more freedom when ordering off of the menu.

You do NOT need to pay rack rate to get DDP. I don't know about the 40% off deal. You might want to go check on the codes & rates board. If you want AAA discount with DDP you need to book with a AAA travel agent-you can only book room only AAA discount yourself with Disney CRO.

:wizard: Good Luck!!!!!

I had the same problem with my 40% pin. I called Disney many times, most CMs said they couldn't combine the ddp & tickets with my 40% pin. So I decided to try & email dreams unlimited & explain what I was trying to do & explain the trouble I was having. They had no trouble reserving a room for me at the Poly with the ddp & tickets with my 40%. for an excellent price. It can't hurt to email them to see what they can do. I was so frustrated with all the calls I made unsucessfully & dreams unlimited made it so easy! Good luck - I hope it works out for you!:)

I was able to book a package with DDP and tickets with my 40% off PIN. I did have to call twice because the first CM told me I couldn't. Of course, she also was quoting me rack rates and insisting they were discounted. So I hung up and called later in the day. I got a very helpful CM who was able to quote me truly discounted rates, and informed me that it was no problem to book a package. He said there are codes they have to use to put it all together and he had to search a little to find it in the system, but he found it and booked my package with the room rate discounted 40%. :cool1: Some CM are more knowledgable than others. It helps to call back and work with a different CM if you are having issues making the ressie.

The dining plan itself is not a discount...it's basically an add-on. IF you had a room only ressie w/the 40% code & not a package (ie park tickets), you cannot do that because you can only add the dining plan onto a package...not room only ressie. Maybe that's where the CM was confused? :confused

For example, I went through AAA, got the AAA discount on the room, 10 day PH & DDP package.

It wasn't an issue for me. In fact, I had been booked with AAA a while back at their discounted rate, along with the DlxDP. When I became aware of the 40% off room discount, I booked through CRO and got the DlxDP and the 40% room rate. I then called my AAA travel agent, who said that while she could not beat the price on the package, AAA would send me a rebate check for $50.00 on the date my travel started.

In either case, I had no problems booking th 40% off room rate with the DlxDP. In fact, I don't think that either DP is a promotional rate, and therefore, they are not combining promotions. Disney makes money on them, because more often than not, people order food than they would otherwise order!

I am using code from the "up to 40%" postcard and we are using DDP...

And the discount is there. It's not the full 40%, but it's about 1200 off 8 nights at BWV. That's still a great discount, in my opinion. :thumbsup2

The dining plan itself is not a discount[/B.

Technically it is. Most of us buy the plan to save money on our food bill, and Disney advertises it as a savings program. I'm not saying you can't get a room discount and the plan, but the DP is certainly a discount program in and of itself.

my TA had to call a few times to get a CM who said they could do the 40% offf code with the ddp, but she finally was able to. it's just a matter of getting the right cm on the phone. all i can say is don't give up. It was much easier to let maureen do all the work for me, but if you are doing it yourself, be prepared to be on the phone a long time. TA sometimes have better contacts than we ever would.

I posted this on the codes & rates board and they all suggested I call again, which I did this morning.

Renee, cm, had no problem doing it, although like someone mentioned, she did say she would have to search for the right code to use.

But she also kept saying what a great deal it was to get the 40% off and the ddp which is a 30-40% discount in itself.

So I was able to get the tickets and ddp and maintain the 40% room rate. So I am thrilled and the magic is back!

Only now DH who wants no part of planning is wondering out loud if I booked enough days...:sad2:

:woohoo: Congrats!

My DH wouldn't have to ask me twice to add more days.
